"Puzzles are like songs - A good puzzle can give you all the pleasure of being duped that a mystery story can. It has surface innocence, surprise, the revelation of a concealed meaning, and the catharsis of solution."

- Stephen Sondheim

For this "Still Life" composition I used natural Geranium branches affected by plant albinism, that I found at one place in my neighborhood. Plants with albinism occur when they don't produce chlorophyll. Emergent albino plant seedings will have a distinct white color without any hint of green pigment.

Even the hardest puzzles have solutions.

Sometimes it is quite a puzzle what you have to do and also what you shouldn't do!

HANAYAMA - Infinity puzzle. Called Infinity not only because it looks like an infinity symbol when assembled, but because its movement continues endlessly until the pieces are taken apart.

inspired by lara jade, and kind of rankin too i guess.

i was buying these buttons with my mum today and the woman had a bit of a puzzled look on her face, cause i was going "and i'd like 3 of these, and 2 of those and only one of those" so my mum said they were for my face and completely embarressed me.

also, i think i've completely freaked my brother's girlfriend out!! she was in the house whilst I was walking around with a button face.

fun times :)

I'm thankful I have this puzzle now I'm doing. The governor has closed all restaurants (will be take outs at certain ones) and bars as of 3pm today. I went to the PO this AM and the town is deserted. No schools, Churches and the Library is shut down.

I'm thankful I have Flickr to communicate with others here at my house. I wish everyone to be safe..............

I'm not convinced that Night Heron is the most appropriate name for this bird as all the ones I have seen have been active in the daytime!

It was the only wet day during a week in Hungary's bird-rich Hortbagy National Park when I encountered this heron - just 3 metres away behind a glass-fronted bird hide. I was ferreting about in the bushes outside the lakeside hide (looking for caterpillars!) when I saw this heron parachute in. I had a feeling it had landed on or near the reeds in front of the hide, so I entered as silently as I could and my camera was already mounted on a tripod ready for action. As I clicked away, I knew the bird could hear the noise of the camera - but was puzzled because he couldn't see me behind the one-way view glass. It's a shame it was raining and the light was poor, but it was an unforgettable moment to be so close to such a special bird.

Thanks for taking the time to view and comment on my photographs – it is greatly appreciated and encouraging!

An icy scene in Northern Norway. I was reminded of puzzle pieces while crouching down in the snowbank for this one.

Puzzle - to offer or represent to (someone) a problem difficult to solve or a situation difficult to resolve. For example: Where are my keys? Where is the key to this lock? What does this key fit? I forgot my key, I'm locked out! 🤔 😕

The Temple of Wadi el-Sebua. Lake Nasser, Egypt

Wadi el-Sebua Temple was built by Ramesses II in Nubia on the west bank of the Nile. The temple was dedicated to the worship of god Ra- Hor-Akhty, Amon, and Ramsis II as a deified person. It is built out of stones except the sanctuary and the inner vestibules which are carved into the bed rock. The temple consists of a sphinx avenue, an entrance, 3 pylons, 3 courtyards, a hypostyle hall and inner sanctuary. The walls of the temple are decorated with many religion scenes and important relief.

During the Christian Era many parts of it have been converted in to a church. The temple was moved in 1964 as the waters were rising in Lake Nasser after the High Dam was built.

Medical update - I have two very rear forms of cancer according to my family doctor and that the neurosurgeon should call in a day or two. He said at the least I will be talked about throughout the medical community. The facts about both are above the knowledge of my family doctor so I will wait and see. I will probably be referred to the cancer center immediately and more treatment will be done on me.

The lump removed from my chest is a real puzzle.....he said. The two cancers are not related to each other which is great.

A lovely day, so I got my next puzzle out into the garden. Also Graham has sawn off a load of excess board for me which makes life a lot easier.

This isn't one I would have chosen, but our friend didn't have many left when I collected it.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

It is inspired by a photo a saw on google but i don't know the name of the artist.

Oh and i know there is something strange in the sky at right, but i did'nt deleted it because it think it fits well with the concept.

You didn't know they come out to play and that's why all the pieces get muddled up?

Puzzle wood Coleford in the Royal Forest of Dean Gloucestershire

Pieces of a Wasgij puzzle which my parents love doing.

I showed a jigsaw by American cutter Brookie Biglands of BCB Puzzles back in Spring 2021 for the theme 'A Splash of Colour'. It used a 'metallic paper' which gave a subtle sparkle and I've been thinking about getting another one. Back then I put a collage together of the favourites that Brookie was offering, but only four of these are currently listed (in bold below). Penbleth has the one top centre-left and said the armchair and woman were very difficult. Most of these images are by the artist Frieseke.

Top Left: Glass mosaic ceiling, Palais de la Musica Catalana, Barcelona.

Lower Left: 'Twofor' Afternoon Tea by Richard Emile Miller & Garden Parasol by Frieseke?

Top Centre-Left: Afternoon - Yellow Room by Frieseke

Lower Centre-Left: Girl in Blue by Frieseke

Top Centre-Right: The Garden Pool by Fieseke

Lower Centre-Right: Lady in Garden by Frieseke.

Top Right: The Garden in its Glory by Childe Hassam

Lower Right: Grey Day on the River by Frieseke.

I thought the metallic paper might add the glitter/shimmer of hot sun to the three on the right, but the interior might be best on standard paper. I can remember one painting that I saw in an exhibition that had amazing glitter, it was Angelo Morbelli's 'Futurist' painting Rice Planting'. I have a print which of course doesn't capture the effect, but perhaps this paper would mimic it?

Smoke Photo Art.

"I wanna make a jigsaw puzzle that's 40,000 pieces. And when you finish it, it says 'go outside.'"

Demetri Martin

This is another example of a germ of an idea that took several twists and turns before reaching the final. I actually hope to do some other variations of this idea, so be on the look out. Like many of my works....all parts except for the space background are made from a single smoke photo (which is pretty much the piece coming out of the top of the sphere). And like alot of my recent work....this took way too much time to get it close to how I envisioned.

Thanks to all of you who comment on my work.
