ingredients
2 litres creamy whole milk www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/grahams-gold-jersey-f...
50g ground almonds
150g sugar
a few drops of vanilla essence replaced the rosewater recommended in the recipe, i had none of the latter
method
bring the milk to the boil
reduce the heat and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the milk is reduced to less than half its volume
remove from the heat
add the sugar
stir until the sugar has dissolved
add the ground almonds and vanilla essence, stir
allow to cool
once cool decant into containers and seal with lid
place in the freezer
kulfi must be served semi frozen and not soft like icecream
notes
reduction took a very long time.
i'll try turning the heat up slightly higher next time.
after boiling the milk i simmered on just over the 2 on the hob.
i didn't want to burn the bottom of the pan.
i used a wooden spoon and stirred frequently
i emptied the milk into a measuring jug to make sure i had reduced the milk by half, from 2 litres to 1 litre
i have at times seen icecream makers for sale in charity shops.
i wish i'd bought one. from tomorrow i'm searching ...

kulfi is a popular indian dessert and comes in many different flavours such as mango, cardamom and pistachio.
this recipe can be used as a base to experiment adding flavours

I was walking around Tempe Town Lake and as I was approaching this guy he jumped up on this rock wall and started doing Knuckle Pushups. I watched for a minute or so, and he just kept going. Who knows how many he did. He definitely qualified as strong.

Bleached Earless Lizard (Holbrookia maculata ruthveni)
White Sands National Park, NM
The Bleached Earless Lizard is only found in the White Sands area of New Mexico. With adaptations over the last several thousand years, it has evolved to thrive in the white sand dunes but not in other darker environments.
They use various displays of head bobbing, pushups, leg stretching, and body compression to defend their territory or attract a female. Breeding males are a bit more colorful than females. This is a male doing some evening pushups to attract the females.
From the archives. A shot with Kenko 1.4x Tele-converter and Canon EF 70-300mm. The combination is certainly OK if compared with a P&S bridge camera, but its not what i gambled for even after reading the reviews of this combination. Next step will be to get a L series lens to justify the Tele-converter purchase :P. For those wondering on the sharpness degradation, check shot of same bird without TC in comments below.

I received an email today reminding me to post a picture of me participating in the push up challenge. Self critique, I should have moved the trampoline frame out of the image and positioned the camera differently but the sunrise was happening fast so this is it.

It's around 4pm, I'm on the West Side Highway, and this guy jogs past me and at the corner drops and starts doing push-ups. I had time to get across the street and snap these two pics.
Whether it be the elderly, children, homeless, the workers or the men and women that carry out the mating ritual on the city sidewalks. ..
