Due to my health condition, I am unable to hold or stabilize a camera for extended periods of time. Additionally, using a tripod has never been enjoyable for me, as it would cause pain when trying to position it correctly and constantly bending over to check the viewfinder. Consequently, I have chosen to explore digital AI artwork as an alternative. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it diverges from traditional photography. However, I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, digital AI artwork fulfills that purpose, at least for the time being.

This beautiful warbler flits about very actively in the trees, usually holding its wings and tail partly spread, as if to show off their patches of color. At times it feeds more like a flycatcher than a typical warbler, hovering among the foliage and often flying out to grab insects in mid-air.

Finn went to the very polished Seven Emporium sim for 50L Friday earlier, to get the 'Full Lubrication Service' sign (shush!), and walked around and saw this little broken boat on the shore with its big old rusty chain, and took a quick pic ...

The YT vid to this really has to be Selena Gomez, listen to it, and you'll understand this pic :)

You promised the world and I fell for it

I put you first and you adored it

You set fires to my forest

And you let it burn

Sang off key in my chorus

Cause it wasn’t yours

I saw the signs and I ignored it

Rose colored glasses all distorted

You set fire to my purpose

And I let it burn

You got off on the hurtin’

When it wasn’t yours

We’d always go into it blindly

I needed to lose you to find me

This dancing was killing me softly

I needed to hate you to love me

So, finally Monday arrives (after a completely abysmal Saturday and Sunday in as far as Light is concerned) and so does the Light. I did a quick scout for the caterpillar (planned for next post), nowhere to be seen. Settling down on the bench that was used for the bee shot seemed like the thing to do. Contemplating if I should change up my gear to take advantage of the light. Nahh, too much effort. I noticed the Blue Jays in a frenzy over the peanuts. I was still disturbed over the fact that someone, you know who you are, had posted a shot of a Nuthatch in an upright feeding position. That is highly unusual. Up here, the Nuthatch has taken it upon himself to teach the Blue Jays how to do it his way. I had observed that behavior for a while and thus I came up with my purpose for this Monday. I talked the Nuthatch into getting his top student to perform this acrobatic feat so I could document this. I watched in wonder as the Blue Jay followed his sensei’s instructions. If other people can show Nuthatches right-side-up, I can certainly display a Blue Jay upside-down. So, here we are; no trickery using software nor the use of any super glue.

Enjoy what’s left of this weekend.

This song sparrow is resting in a redosier dogwood shrub. These wonderful bushes grow naturally in the wet barrens here at Chipera Prairie, but do just as well when planted in the front lawn for decorative purposes.

Broadway Tower is a "folly" on Broadway Hill, near the large village of Broadway, in the English county of Worcestershire and was constructed at the second-highest point of the Cotswolds. In architecture, a "folly" is a building constructed primarily for decoration, but suggesting through its appearance some other purpose. The tower itself stands 65 feet (20 metres) high.

This "Saxon" tower was the brainchild of Capability Brown and designed by James Wyatt in 1794 in the form of a castle, and built for Lady Coventry in 1798–1799. (Wiki)

A ring-necked duck floating around Pond 6 with purpose. A poorly named duck. In just the right light you can see a faint chestnut-colored ring around the base of its neck. Not a great mark to identify this species in the field, but according the the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the ring around the neck stood out to a 19th century biologist that described the species using dead specimens. I've never seen a dead one, so I'll have to take their word for it.

This Clark's Grebe family is a joy to watch, but they really don't want photos. They stay on the far side of the lake, the rascals. I watched them again today (a week after this pic), same far away place, same special family.

The behavior here is feather feeding. The babies go for those feathers like they're as tasty as fish. The purpose is likely to do with digestion or stomach lining or something like that.

“Fall in love. Maybe it doesn't have to be with someone. Fall in love with music, art, dancing in the dark, car rides at 1am, the glistening of the stars, the colors of the sun as it rises, the smell of flowers, the feeling of adrenaline that takes over your whole body, and suffocates your lungs with joy, good friends who bring out your best, silence, noise, fall in love with the little things that make you feel most alive and find purpose. Fall in love with life.”

“Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.”

― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

Walking in fog often provides a visual representation of my thought process. My brain constantly brings different topics into view, but in the process lets others slide into the periphery. Most of the time they are all still there, competing for my attention, but all in varying degrees. In fog I respond to the overall loss of clarity, but also the nuance that is created by relative distance. It's this layering effect I find most appealing as more distant objects eventually recede into nothingness...exactly the same as my mind reacts.

Walking outdoors this morning felt otherworldly. I love seeing familiar places rendered as ones I'm visiting for the very first time. A rich dichotomy as the serenity of fog is ripped apart by this visceral reaction. In these moments I invariably come up with camera angles that never would have occurred to me in normal circumstances.

Cleo's Flickr friends know that she always needs a good reason for physical activity and treats ARE a good reason. She found the treats bag in the kitchen, carried it into the garden (probably because she didn't want me to see what she was doing) and used her claws to open the bag. Cleo can indeed be very determined if she has a goal. :)

A cloud of unreality hangs about men, events, discourses, purposes.

Life is a Rainbow: Color Gris

So we booked a trip to Fairbanks Alaska really for one purpose, the Northern Lights. All the tourist info said if you go for three nights you have a 90% chance of seeing the lights. So we booked 4 days. But there are some things you just cannot control. We got there and the KP was only 2, and the sky was very overcast, in fact, it was snowing good and hard most of the time we were there. We tried not to be sullen, or downtrodden. In fact, I think we did a good job filling the days with other fun things to do. You have seen some of that in my other postings.

One such outing was the Chena Hot Springs. We soaked, we had fun. As we were leaving, the sky's opened up just a little and we could see stars. We could see no green, but I thought, heck, let me get out the camera and see if maybe the sensor could see green. I turned on the rear display and there it was, some green. Oh man. Frenzy. Get the tripods, get our coats, get the gloves (it was 18 degrees). We start to scramble. Very three stooges I must say. We know this will not last.

I am not trying to discount the image, but we had no control over where we were. I had 7 great locations scouted out with killer foregrounds, but when the sky won't play, you can't control where you are. So here we are in the parking lot of the Hot Springs. We tried to make the best of it. We ended up with about 45 minutes of clear sky the whole time we were there. The Aurora was not doing anything fun, no ribbons, no various colors, no dancing of any kind. We did try to control the foreground by driving down the road a bit, after the panic in the parking lot. We did grab a few more frames down the road, but the Aurora was stronger here.

I joked with Hilton Chen one time- we agreed that anytime you put blood, sweat and tears into an image, even if its a bit of a dog you are going to share it. So this image is not one of the great Aurora images on the Web. Maybe next time. But it is one I feel I earned, so here it is. Enjoy it darn you, enjoy it.

CSX B708 arrived in Shippensburg right as a short rain storm moved across the area. I'm a sucker for the Geep mother-slug sets, and when I saw the no-longer-a-GP30 was going to lead west to Letterkenny I stuck around despite the conditions. I'm glad I did.

Just as the rain tapered to a mist the setting sun found a hole in the clouds, setting off this brief rainbow. Luckily the train was close, and made the frame before the light quickly faded.

Just outside of town is this newly abandoned place. I should probably stop for a better shot but it is on a fairly busy road.

Happy Truck tHuRsDay

Didn't get what's the purpose of it but i caught in the photo. This was near Ness Beach, Shaldon.

The Wooden Pole on the Peak District's Longshaw Estate is said to stand on the site of an ancient pole. You can see the pole itself in the distance in the top right corner of this photo. Although periodically replaced by the National Trust, who now own the land, the original pole is believed to have served as a way marker/guide post on an old packhorse route and may also have marked the boundary between the villages of Hathersage and Holmesfield. Whatever its original purpose, it occupies a commanding position beside the A6187, and yet many visitors to the area drive past without even noticing it. However, its status as a landmark gives the whole area of countryside surrounding it the name Wooden Pole.

Red Brick Wall......

The Distillery district is a group of historic buildings re-purposed to attract the younger generation. amidst all the concrete and red sand brick i found this shot of the old sand brick wall with the small beer keg door really caught my eye.. our walk through the distillery district was full of surprises as the artwork is very unique and well worth the trip downtown.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,
