Wikipedia: Wikipedia: Khao Phing Kan is an island in Thailand, in Phang Nga Bay northeast of Phuket. About 40 meters (130 ft) from the shores of Khao Phing Kan lies a 20-metre (66 ft) tall islet called Ko Ta Pu. The islands are limestone karst towers and are a part of Ao Phang Nga National Park. Since 1974, when they were featured in the James Bond movie "The Man with the Golden Gun", Khao Phing Kan and Ko Ta Pu have been popularly called James Bond Island.
Before 1974, the island was a rarely visited indigenous area. However, it was chosen as one of the location for the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun as the hideout for Bond's antagonist, Francisco Scaramanga. After the movie release it turned into a popular tourist destination. Popularity and increased tourism left Khao Phing Kan with substantial litter. In 1981, the island became the most famous part of the newly established Ao Phang Nga Marine National Park. Since 1998, it is forbidden for tourist boats to approach Ko Ta Pu. This measure aims to stop erosion of the limestone rocks on and near the islet that might eventually result in the island's collapse.

The distant mountain Pu'u Huluhulu is actually an old conical lava vent for Mauna Kea. I almost passed up this shot when the fog started rolling in from the left, shrouding the mountain in the background. I took this as one of my last pictures while on my Hawai'i vacation.

J'ai déjà pu vous présenter des images de cette très belle espèce sur ma galerie, mais il manquait vraiment quelque chose aux images selon moi.
Cette fois-ci, j'en suis pleinement satisfait, tout y est, lumière du soir, proximité, mise au point et netteté, bokeh, dérangement nul de l'espèce, et surtout être le seul photographe sur zone face à plusieurs individus, tout cela au ras de l'eau.

Eigentlich sollte der Touristenzug - der eine Rundreise mit gutbetuchten Touristen durch die Anden unternimmt, bereits um 11 Uhr ab Puno fahren. Wir standen pünkltich an eben dieser Stelle und warteten ... und warteten ... und warteten.
Irgendwann glaubten wir nicht mehr daran und sind mal zum Hafen von Puno gefahren, da startet der Zug. Und tatsächlich, da stand er .... und machte sich gerade auf den Weg. Mit über 5 Stunden Verspätung verliess er Puno und wir fuhren etwas verzweifelt an unsere Stelle zurück. Es wäre mal so schön gewesen .... ;)

Pu’u Kukui Watershed Preserve is the largest private nature preserve in the state of Hawaiʻi. Extending across more than 9,000 acres from ma uka to ma kai of Mauna Kahālāwai on Mauiʻs West side, it is home to some of the rarest endangered flora and fauna in the islands. This pristine area is a vital water source for Mauiʻs community and one of the wettest spots on earth. Most recently, under new management, the ancestral wisdom of Hawaiian elders has been laid as the foundation for conservation efforts in the preserve; providing a culturally sensitive and informed approach to managing the thriving native ecosystem of Puʻu Kukui.

Climbing above the canopy dominated by ‘ōhi’a and koa trees with a richly diverse understory, the ridge trail undulates to the top of the Ko’olau range. In areas where landslides and slope failures have occurred, uluhe fern, the “scar healer”, is the first settler on exposed soil. The cloudless prominence in the midground before the intersecting range is Pu’ukawipo’o. Rain from the almost constant orographic cumulus over the peaks recharges the island aquifers.

The summit was socked in when we arrived, but luckily there was a ~5 minute window where you could see some of the crater floor.
