Kĕchil, kĕchil lada api. Bĕsar, bĕsar limau abong -- bidalmelayu.wordpress.com/2009/11/24/kechil-kechil-lada-a...
While staying on the river they fished some. One morning Jerry made his way out to a rock in the middle of the river. I took my camera and looked through an opening in the trees. Three copies of the same photo are layered in this shadow box. I used fishing lures, hooks, weights and line. I also used twigs--there is actually fishing line hanging in the tree. The Biblical quote is from proverbs and it is about being sturdy as a branch.
The last photo I call Proverbs 12:11. “He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, But he who pursues worthless things lacks sense.”
"Where there is no counsel, plans fail;
but in a multitude of counselors they are established."
Proverbs 15 verse 22
The Myth of the Rugged Individualist is one of the biggest enemies of joy, success, and mental health. It is the idea that we're supposed to be self-sufficient. A more accurate assessment of history reveals that there is always (and we mean 'always') an ensemble of people gathered together to create something great. Einstein sparked off other great minds - he wasn't in isolation. I'm certain Elon Musk doesn't think alone and most certainly doesn't rely upon himself to action his innovations. St Peter was the one upon Jesus built His Church but St Peter was not alone.
This is one of the strengths of a 'Congregational' approach to Christian Life. We are here to be counselors to one another - to give good counsel. And in diversity, we find strength.
Next time you find a friend a little too serious, realise that they bring uniquely 'sensible' counsel to move your plans forward. And the next time you find a friend a little too silly, realise that they bring their own unique energy to the party.
Above all things, remember to seek and ask for counsel in putting your plans together. We can guarantee that other people will always bring something different with their perspective.

Proverbs 28:14
Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. (KJV)

The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish,.... Or to perish by famine: not but that good men may be afflicted with it, as Jacob and his sons were, when the famine was in Egypt and in other lands; and as the apostles, particularly the Apostle Paul, were often in hunger and thirst, yet not so as to be destroyed by it; for in "famine" the Lord redeems such from death; though the young lions lack and suffer hunger, they that fear the Lord shall not want any good thing; at least whatever they may suffer this way does not arise from the wrath of God, nor does it nor can it separate from the love of God and Christ, Job_5:20. Moreover, the souls of such shall not be famished for want of spiritual food; shall not have a famine of the word and ordinances; their souls shall be fed, as with marrow and fatness, with the finest of the wheat, and with honey out of the rock: the church, though in the wilderness, is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, Rev_12:14;

Proverbs 15:24 (ANIV)
The path of life leads upward for the wise
to keep him from going down to the grave. [1]

Hebrew, Sheol.
DRAWING NOTES:
TIME OF DAY:
Not specified in the Bible, I have set the scene in the mid morning.
LIGHTING NOTES:
There is a sunlight coming from above and left, which casts vague shows to the right of figures and objects.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Various unnamed people, walking along the path of life
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene is a rather literal interpretation of the phrase “path of life”, which is represented in my picture by the healthy-looking green plants, grasses, rose bushes, colourful flowers, etc. In contrast to the path of life, is the surrounding landscape, with bones and skeletons in the right foreground, and skull motifs in the mountainous background. Notice also that nothing is alive in the areas off the pathway, the rocks are bare and the colour is sandy browns and grey tones, representing the lifelessness to be found in the surrounding landscape.
Hopefully the point of the picture is clear: if you walk on the “path of life” (as revealed by, and provided by, faith in Jesus Christ) you will avoid walking “down to the grave” (Hebrew. Sheol, the place of the dead).
I have drawn the figures with an air of carefree companionship; notice the little girl smelling the rose bloom in the foreground, and the couple (her parents?) following along behind her, talking quietly together. The other figures and groups of figures represent small families and couples, all walking along the green pathway, talking and enjoying their journey together. I am not trying to suggest that walking in faith with Jesus is easy, in fact the Christian life can be very challenging, difficult, painful, etc, especially as we are opposed by the spiritual forces of evil. However, the Christian path leads to life, both currently as we live out our lives on earth, AND after we die physically, meaning that there is always hope for us, despite any current or future difficulties we may face.

Proverbs exhibition by Jo Williams was officially opened on Saturday 1st October as part of the 2011 CRUSH Festival at Childers Arts Space. The exhibition showcases several works all linked with well-known and some not so well-known proverbs.
The exhibition continues until the 6th November.
"Singing cheerful songs to a person with a heavy heart
is like taking someone's coat in cold weather
or pouring vinegar in a wound."
Be careful to do more good than harm. Put yourself in their shoes and hold your tongue if the words would cut you…
