Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

ELLIE GOULDING – YOUR SONG

FREEDOM

Seated in my dining room

I look towards the patio

where Buddha watches over me

through closed and hooded lids

so wise; so tranquil; so knowledgeable

an oasis of calm upon the ledge of the boundary of my life

my life may seem smaller now in some respects

my plans may have recently been shelved

but within the confines of my garden

my world is complete and in perfect harmony

there will be time enough I hope

when the illness that restricts my movements

has ended it's journey so that mine can then begin

this year I wanted to travel more

to see new places and revisit old memories

but “life is what happens

when we are making other plans” clichéd, yet true

so here I am and I can either watch the world go by

or I can wait for the world to come to me

for our knowledge of the world can be completely found

within the intricacies of nature; from the smallest insect

to the tallest tree and I can still lay on the grass

and look up to the sky; watch clouds endlessly floating by

imagine where they've been and all that they have seen

their watchful gaze takes in my form and carries it along

to another sky where someone else is also watching

how exciting it is to be a part of something

so much bigger than we are

the Universe; the Moon; the Sun and stars

I am not unique, but I am a part of you

and you are a part of me; together we make up the world

and who is to say that collective consciousness

is not within the clouds

or in the blinking of a shooting star;

or even a speck of dust carried on the wind

tomorrow that dust may settle on your shoulder or your shoe

and as you brush it gently away think of me

and I will know by the sound of the whispering wind

as it gently touches my face that the thought of me has travelled

and the thought of you is here,

so though we may stand still and barely move at all

we have in fact travelled the world together

have you ever caught a glimpse of a shadow

within your peripheral vision

only to turn and there is nothing there

perhaps that is me or one of you;

or at least the imprint that you have made upon this world

that travels freely within your mind and mine;

no borders can prevent this freedom that we have

the freedom of our minds can take us to the moon and back

in the blinking of an eye and the rain that falls on me

may someday fall on you; and can you see what happens

when raindrops trickle down the window

they merge and form a pool and that is us

one drop at a time we form the world; the whole.

FADE INTO YOU – MAZZY STAR

ABUNDANCY

Pure of heart lights the way

shines like sun in the month of May

carries me throughout this day

Abundancy of Love

How I wish I could slip away

to my little island not far away

and linger longer; warm hazy days

Abundancy of Being

I can see you in my dreams

feel your touch and all it seems

is all I need and tranquil streams

Abundancy of Soul

Roses perfumed sweetness flows

cherry blossom falls like snow

seasons come and seasons go

Abundancy of Nature

Silence; tranquil; peace and quiet

nightingales sing throughout the night

twinkling winking stars and moonlight

Abundancy of Heaven

Close my eyes and turn my cheek

love me if I'm who you seek

refresh my spirit when I feel weak

Abundancy of Life

Open my heart and let me sing

beauty is found in everything

be more aware and life will bring

Abundancy of All.

DINGLY DELL - LINDISFARNE

Fading ideals and memories

hidden beneath the stack

of letters and photographs

piled so high; yellowing

on dusty shelves once painted black

now peeling and dimple-dinted

by hammers and glancing blows

like my heart has taken

what my soul already knows

that we can never get back those times

of sweet halcyon days

when endless rhymes

fell from my lips into your ears

you held me so tight and quelled my fears

but like back then and so like now

the memory of you still dries my tears

and I feel your presence throughout the years

but there's no real use in looking back

except as a reminder that once all was well

those days of laughter in Dingly Dell

the smudges of mud from our runs in the hills

collapsing and breathless and laughing like stills

from an old movie we watched on cold Winter nights

over and over until we could recite

each and every phrase word perfect to our delight

smiling eyes joined our souls and set passions alight

now all I have left are those memories

they keep me warm; those sweet histories

but that's alright as long as I know

that the struggle for you that ran deeper than snow

is no longer a struggle; no longer a blow

you found new horizons; new sunsets and sunrise

the pale yellow moon lights up all your highways

you travel alone without me by your side

tucked into your breast pocket a note where I lied

telling you I was ok and not to worry about me

I loved you so much; I let you fly free

I never much wanted a caged bird you see

I would never me happy; you would never feel free

that is what true love is

the ability to know

when it's the right thing to stay

or the right thing to go

and I know it's the right thing in letting you go

because I also feel freer and I hope that you know

it will never be over; this love that I have

but I no longer feel burdened and I rarely feel sad

we can live with the peace in our minds and our souls

and the space in our heart that's reserved for us all

to let new love in; like the cherry tree flowers

that fill up my senses and transform my hours

to days and then weeks; to months and then years

until finally I get it; there is no reason to fear

we all must let go before we get back

the love that we give; the freedom we lack

I hope you are thinking as I'm thinking of you

the love we created will serve someone new.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one early afternoon in Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park. This is from an overlook with a view extending to the northwest to the waterfall itself with the Kaministiquia River. In composing this image, I attempted to capture a look across the waterfall while centering the waters coming down across the image center. I wanted to include some of the nearby trees as well as distant shoreline. I later worked with FilmPack 8 and used one of the presets along with a sky replacement for the overcast skies that day, using an image captured with my Nikon D850 SLR Camera from out in west Texas.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one early evening around sunset in the area around International Falls, Minnesota. The view extends to the west looking along the shores of Rainy Lake. Other than aligning myself up to more or less center the sun in the image, the rest was moving around the shoreline until I could find a look with that to complement the lake waters in the right hand portion of the image.

I chose to work with Camera RAW HDR merge tool to better bring that complete color setting in the image. I later exported a TIFF image to DxO PhotoLab 9 where I did some final adjustments with contrast, saturation and brightness for the final image.

Silence is the Way Some Feel Grief

An empty quietness that seems so hard to fill

Distractions can help to fill in that void

It seems for a time, mainly

Then I look at these wonders

Ages and eons have passed

They stoically watch as time moves by

Winds and floods have they have witnessed

They stand and my troubles seem to naught

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one afternoon in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument while walking the Devils Garden. The setting is looking to the west across a grassy field to eroded sandstone formations present in this part of the national monument and Utah. My thinking in composing this image was to have a balanced, leveled-on view looking to the horizon. From a high ground perch that I was standing on, I would be able to angle my Nikon SLR camera to create a sweeping view across the grassy field leading up to the formations. I decided to keep them a little off centered as I felt the cliffs off in the distance added a balance the image. The blue skies and clouds would be that color contrast to complement the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image.

.. loud, intense, and although people were yelling, little was heard above the roaring of the wind. Though there were many an intrepid soul on the beach that day, there was a sense of being alone, just me and the ancient elements. In this place the internal dialogue seems to be magnified as if spurred on by the raging wind, the volume turned up bringing a distinct clarity, a comforting haven in the midst of the turmoil. An unexpected peace, a shelter with walls of noise, and sand and wind. I walked on with a sense of thankfulness thinking clearly...

A Voice Told Me to Stop at the Tree Bending Over

You wouldn't regret it

A capitol idea, so they said

So I walked amongst the pines and pinions

A dusty trail leading my way

Up and down the rolling hills

Several miles walking in a national forest

Until I came upon the sight

And then saw beyond...

Wondrous heights of a butte and mesas

Blue skies and evergreens

A setting complete across northern Arizona.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning in Coconino National Forest while walking the Cockscomb Trail. My thinking in composing this image was to use the quite distinct, right angle bend in the tree and include that with the backdrop of Capitol Butte. Nearby would be more earth-tones present in the ground as well as greens and yellows in the nearby trees. Blue skies above would be a color contrast to complement the setting of the national forest.

It's the first day of the month, and this is a first of a new series. Hopefully I can upload some more in the future...

Good Morning!

With the Coming of the Rain and Storms,

The sun is hidden, but only for a short time

The once placid reflections across a nearby pond

are interrupted by circles of rain, fallen from above

So I will bide my time, staying dry under some trees

Under my poncho, I hear the drip drop of water

and the coolness of an afternoon breeze

Soon the clouds will break and blue skies return

I will continue my journey and walk amongst the trees.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one early afternoon in Denali National Park & Preserve while walking the Horseshoe Lake Trail. Drizzle had started to fall, but the views around the lake and forest setting were amazing! So I stood under some nearby trees with my poncho on while the rain came down and captured a few of these images. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 3 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

I'm a sucker for wildflowers; more so when they're truly wild in a field. I love them, they brighten any spot, even the side of a road that's riddled with potholes.

And so, this morning when I was walking back from an appointment and spotted this field of wild growth I had to pull the camera out and see what I could capture.

No field is ever the same. If I were to go back tomorrow, it would be different and I think that's what I love about places like this.

CREATE THE FUTURE YOU WANT TO FACE

June days are sunny days full of endless possibilities

roses bloom and their perfume pervades the sun warmed air

my step is light my thoughts are free

and both can wander by the sea

in boundless joy I skip and dance along the sands to new romance

collecting sea glass green and blue and pretty shells in every hue

pebbles tumble as the ebb and flow

of summer tides reaches my toes

and cries of seagulls overhead lumber through the skies well fed

on chips and ice-cream discarded by the kids of tourists passing by

the golden hour comes at last and I revel in the breezy blast

of cooler air and silence reached when only I am on my beach

the best part of the day for me when I am where I want to be

walking dawdling in idle fashion along the shore that is my passion

meditating deep in thought worry free my dreams are caught

between the ocean and the sky

sweet taste of freedom hopes are high

no need to dwell on past mistakes begin again release the brakes

the universe sends angel signs white feathers found along the lines

among the stones and grains of sand

yin and yang drawn by some hand

another hopeful hearted soul left a message where I stroll

perhaps the message was meant for me

or someone else who is fancy free

whatever else it warms my heart to see that angels will impart

the gift of love and precious signs that fill my soul and so entwine

my destiny and fate in one and make me feel I've just begun

the great adventure of my life

where once was empty now is free from strife

and filled with promises of dreams

still yet to come; soft flowing streams

and fill my senses with songs to strum beating time my fingers drum

and pluck my guitar newly strung

to play the songs that must be sung

and songs my heart has memorised

since time began and I surprised

my soul that nestled softly dormant waiting for an end to torment

awakens with simplicity forgets it once knew duplicity

and rises up to join my heart to sing and dance a brand new start

rises with the silvered moon the dancing can't begin too soon

tomorrow was always meant to be a gift to match eternity

an endless joyful day and night to uplift my spirits never fight

or dampen down the joy I send

to a stranger who may become my friend

and return the gift of love tenfold

to a heart and soul that had foretold

the future like a crystal ball reflected in the eyes of all

that gaze upon a love so pure and appreciate the sweet allure

of unconditional love and more

when love comes knocking on my door
