Photographed at Chester Zoo through the thick, smudged glass. It was a case of sharpening my elbows for this one and biding my time in the crowds that had gathered round the enclosure. Again, I was caught in two minds about seeing these animals in captivity...

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, dedicated to the unknown soldiers who have given their lives for Poland. The monument is the only surviving part of the Saxon Palace that occupied the spot until World War II. Since 2 November 1925 the tomb houses an unidentified body of a young soldier who fell during the Defence of Lwów. At a later date, earth from numerous battlefields where Polish soldiers have fought was added to the urns housed in the surviving pillars of the Saxon Palace.
The pastry chefs decided to do some promotion to boost sales at the bakery... Since lockdown, their business is not doing so great and they hope this will bring in more customers!

Tidnish Bridge is a community on the interprovincial border with New Brunswick on the Tidnish River. Tidnish Bridge is home to the Chignecto Ship Railway Keystone Bridge and would have been the Baie Verte terminus.
The Chignecto Ship Railway was a historic Canadian portage railway.
With Canadian Confederation in 1867, a variety of canal-building projects were undertaken throughout the new country by the new federal government, including renewed interest in a canal that could transit the isthmus at Chignecto. The Chignecto Ship Railway project was first proposed in 1875 as a means to transport ships across the Isthmus of Chignecto, shortening the sailing distance between the Bay of Fundy and the Gulf of St. Lawrence by avoiding the necessity of sailing 930 kilometers (500 nautical miles) around Nova Scotia. A canal had been proposed for the isthmus but financing was proving difficult to secure. In 1882 the Chignecto Marine Transport Railway Company was incorporated as a federally chartered railway.
The ship railway was designed to carry vessels weighing up to 2000 tons with a proposed transit time of 2.5 hours. Ships would be carried on a cradle forming an extremely wide rail car that straddled parallel twin railway tracks, separated by 5.5 meters (18 ft) to the centre of each track.
By August 1891 work on the ship railway ground to a halt and would never restart.

The Vaillancourt Fountain, sometimes called Quebec libre!, is a large fountain located in Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco, designed by the Québécois artist Armand Vaillancourt in 1971. It is about 12 m (40 ft) high and is constructed out of precast concrete square tubes. Pumps out about 30,000 gallons of water per minutes.

It was drained for repairs June 14, 2023, it had various electrical problems that had to be repaired.

Christ the Redeemer, seen on the way to the airport.
Christ the Redeemer statue, was constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is 30 metres (98ft) high, excluding its 8 metre (26ft) pedestal. The arms stretch 28 metres (92ft) wide. It is made of reinforced concrete and soapstone.
The statue weighs 635 metric tons, and is located at the peak of the 700 metre (2,300ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro. A symbol of Christianity across the world, the statue has also become a cultural icon of both Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, and is listed as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Victoria Crowned Pigeon is a large, bluish-grey pigeon with elegant blue lace-like crests, maroon breast, and red irises. The bird may be easily recognized by the unique white tips on its crests and by its deep 'whooping' sounds made while calling. Its name commemorates the British monarch Queen Victoria.

Nothing lasts forever - the lighthouse was gone and all that remains is the lantern room beside the farm house.
In 1871, Pugwash Lighthouse was established on Fishing Point at the entrance to Pugwash Harbor and the Pugwash River. The lighthouse, which was built in a “schoolhouse” design with a square tower rising from one end of the dwelling’s roof. This style of lighthouse is uncommon in Canada, but was frequently used in the United States.
The narrow point of land on which the lighthouse stood was often subjected to erosion and flooding. A stone retaining wall was built along the bank in 1878, and many things had to be done every few years to protect the point from erosion.
The gallery deck on top of the tower was rebuilt in 1880 so that a larger lantern could be used with a more powerful optic. Around 1960, a new tower was built on the point, and the old Pugwash Lighthouse was sold to the Mundle family, who moved the structure to their nearby farm.

Church of Notre-Dame of Dijon was began around 1230. There are The 51 gargoyles on the front of the church.

Saint Sophia provoked first the martyrdom of her three daughters "Faith", "Hope" and "Love" and then her own.
These holy Martyrs dwelt in Italy in the reign of Hadrian (117-138). When in Rome the Emperor sent soldiers to bring them before him. He was amazed how steadfast in the faith Sophia’s daughters were.
Faith, twelve years old, was brought in first. She dismissed the tyrant’s flatteries. The Emperor had her stripped, mercilessly beaten and her breasts torn off, whence milk not blood flowed forth. The other tortures she endured were to no avail, for she was protected by the power of God. When, at last, they came to strike off her head, Sophia encouraged her to accept with joy the death that would unite her to Christ.
Hope, ten years old, was brought in next. Confessing Christ as steadfastly as her sister, she was beaten and cast into a raging furnace, but its fire went out on touching her. After many other tortures, she too died by the sword, giving thanks to God.
Love, the third sister, was then summoned before the angry Emperor. She was nine years old but of the same steadfast mind as her sisters. She was hung on a gallows and chained so tightly that her limbs were broken by the bonds. She was then thrown into a furnace, from which she was delivered by an angel, and finally, beheaded. Sophia rejoiced in spirit to see her daughters so gloriously making their way to the abodes of the righteous but, overwhelmed by earthly sorrow, she gave back her soul to God a few days later at their tomb.

St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom) is the most important Catholic Church in Vienna. It has a multi-colored tile roof with a diamond pattern and two tall towers. It is the most recognizable symbol of the city.
The church was dedicated to St. Stephen, who was also the patron of the bishop’s cathedral in Passau. The church was oriented toward the sunrise on his feast day of 26 December, as the position stood in the year that construction began.
