This is the 2nd version of this photo that I have put up here. However, I am not putting this up to promote my photos or look for comments or faves. I already have a version of this photo on here [2nd last photo back] that is not in any groups and I am more than happy with it, thanks. I am putting this up to show people on here how to work around the 30/60 group maximum rule that Flickr introduced over a month ago!

People who have PRO status on here can only now put there photos in 60 groups and those with non Pro status in only 30 groups. This is not enough for many of us!

However, there is a way around it in which we can put each of our photos in hundreds of groups or as many as you like by following these instructions and not breaking any rules.

There are lots of administrators of groups on here who do not want to accept Flickrs ruling as it is affecting their viewing figures so they have decided to allow us to add as many photos as we want to their groups,

but you must do this in the correct order or Flickr will block you when you have added only 60/30 photos maximum!

From tomorrow morning, Tuesday [9/1/2017] I will start adding this photo to groups and will by the end of the week, Friday,[ 12/1/2017 ] have this photo in over 100 groups.

If you drop by between tomorrow and next thurday I will have put the instructions on how to do the first stage, and then on Friday I will put up on ,how to do the 2nd/3rd final stage.

I know that lots of people dont understand how to do this as English is not there first language so please, if you are there friends and can translate for them, please do. Flickr translate is worse than useless!!! Others dont understand how to do this this because of the complications of modern technology { Im one of those who struggle with modern stuff too!} so this is why Im doing it step by step to help people understand. Its easy once you do it the first time!

Please do join the "OPT OUT GROUP"

[www.flickr.com/groups/2982691@N21/ ] where my good frends, i LOVE NatureiLOVEnature's Photography Inspiration and SaffyH SaffyH have compiled a list of the groups that have opted out of the 30/60 maximum rule and you can use as many of these groups as you like but only when stage one is complete!!!!!!! Thank you to them for explaining to me how to do his! They will also help you in any way they can including assisting administrators who wish to opt their groups out of the 30/60 restrictions!

Hopefully I will catch you here between tomorrow and Thursday and if you have any queries do message me as I will be more than pleased to help you if I can!

TUESDAY 9/1/2018

Hi all! I said Id come back this morning and start adding this photo to opt in grops { groups that have stayed with the 30/60 maximum ruling! }

I am adding the photo to 30 of these froups today and I will add it to a further 30 [total 60} on friday}

I could add it to 60 now in one hit but it is better to do it in 2 or more sections. The reason for this is as follows;

When you put up say one of your phoos and add it to one group, it immediatly goes on the first page of the group site and can be seen by all who visit that group. However as the day progresses, more people will add their photos to the group and your photo will go onto the 2nd, 3rd or 4th page etc and will disappear from public view as most people only look at the first webpage on a group site! By splitting the sixty groups into smaller sections of say 30+30 or 15 +15+15 +15 or whatever way you want to do it, your photo is getting more exposure to the public view. You could of course if you have lots of time, put your photo into 60 opt in groups today, remove it from these groups tomorrow and then add it to 60 new opt in groups. Its your choice.Just do remember that 60 is the total maximum you can leave up!!

Im now adding my photo to my 30 groups.

I will drop back on Friday next to complete step one and do step 2 [opt out groups }and step 3 if any!

By the way, to find out if a group is opt in or opt out, open the groups main page. Scroll down to the bottom and its written in the first paragraph!! Do remember to choose only opt in groups at this stage!!

This photo has 77 Faves overnight which I didnt really want but thats how good people are on here!

We will see how many extra faves, if any, it has by Friday!!

Hope your day is good and thank you for joining me!!!!

Friday 12/1/2018

Hiya!

The photo has done quite well since I put it up last Tuesday.

1250 Views! If only 25% of the people here, read this and use the "Workaround" as suggested, that would be really great!

I checked back 6 hours later, on the groups[ 30 ] I had put he photo in, and it had disappeared of their front pages. Mostly it was on the third page. This means that the photo loses interest very quickly as it is pushed further back as other members add their photos. It might be better to add the 60/30 opt in groups over a longer period of time, say 5 per day over 12 days. If course, the larger the group the photo is added to, the quicker it disappears off the front page. In smaller groups it would stay visible for longer.

Im now going to add it to the remaining 30 {Opt In } groups.

Now I have reached the maximum. I can still remove some at this stage and add other ones in but Im leaving it as is.

Im now going to add the opt out groups that I have colected. Approximately 40. { Stage 2 }

Ive finished that and including admin approval on 6 of the photos, I have now put the photo in over 100 groups. I will add more opt out ones as I find them.

It is at this point that any group invites that you have should be added. { Stage 3 }

I do hope you may find this helpful and If you have any questions, please ask and Ill do my best to answer them.

Thanks for all your Faves, comments and your kindness!

★WHAT IS THE DREAM ROCKET PROJECT?

The Dream Rocket Team is collecting nearly 8,000 artworks from participants around the globe. The artwork will be assembled together to create a massive cover in which will wrap a 37 story Saturn V Moon Rocket at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We will also be displaying submitted artwork in dozens of national venues prior to the wrapping of the Saturn V. Additionally, we are posting images of submitted artwork & their stories on our Website, Flickr, and Facebook.The Dream Rocket project uses the Saturn V Moon Rocket as a symbolism of universal values of the human spirit. Optimism, hope,

caring for our natural resources, scientific exploration, and harnessing technological advancements for a better quality of life while safeguarding our communities, are all common desires across national and international boundaries. Participants are able to express and learn about these values through this creative collaboration. With the completion of each artwork, participants are asked to write an essay explaining their artwork, and the dream theme in which they chose.

★How can I Participate & Have my Artwork Displayed?

The Dream Rocket project would like to challenge you to ‘Dare to Dream’. To dream about your future and the future of our world through dream themes such as health, community, conservation, science, technology, space, peace, and so on. We would like you to use your selected Dream Theme to express, explore, and create your vision on your section of the wrap. We hope that you are able to express and learn through this creative collaboration. With the completion of each artwork, you are asked to write a brief essay explaining your artwork, and the dream theme in which you chose.

“The Saturn V is the ideal icon to represent a big dream. This rocket was designed and built as a collaboration of nearly half-a-million people and allowed our human species to venture beyond our world and stand on ANOTHER - SURELY one of the biggest dreams of all time. ENABLING THE DREAMS of young people to touch this mighty rocket sends a powerful message in conjunction with creating an educational curriculum to engage students to embrace the power of learning through many important subjects”

The idea to promote the Nine Little Streets as a shopping area came from Djoeke Wessing. Still a local shop keeper, she wanted a common name for the area to give the same allure as the Jordan. This, she felt, would promote cooperation and business growth, but also attract more tourists to the hitherto relatively unknown area. The Association of The 9 Streets was founded on November 12, 1996. Nobody thought it was a good name at the time, but the name has stuck, and the area retains de 9 Straatjes' name.

The Nine Streets: Reestraat, Hartenstraat, Gasthuismolensteeg, Oudespiegelstraat, Wolvenstraat, Berenstraat, Huidenstraat, Runstraat y Weide Heisteeg.

I decided I couldn’t hold off much longer sharing the images I shot from #PPC2018. So here is the very first image I shot there on my first day. We all built a gigantic birds nest (a total dream come true for me). I miss it all dearly. I’m almost done editing through everything I shot there- and I don’t want it to end because it feels like the only piece left that’s hasn’t ended yet. But more on that later.

Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT) is a vision of the late Elder, Joe Sylvester.

Initial efforts began with a diabetes research project, which realized that a more comprehensive approach to health care was needed by the Aboriginal community.

In response, Anishnawbe Health Resources was incorporated in 1984. One of its objectives stated, “To recover, record and promote Traditional Aboriginal practices where possible and appropriate.”

In 1989, having successfully secured resources from the Ministry of Health, Anishnawbe Health Toronto became recognized and funded as a community health centre.

Since then, AHT has and continues to grow to meet the needs of the community it serves. As a fully accredited community health centre, AHT offers access to health care practitioners from many disciplines including Traditional Healers, Elders and Medicine People. Ancient ceremonies and traditions, intrinsic to our health care model are available. Our work with the homeless has evolved from early directions of crisis intervention to our current efforts of working with those who seek to escape homelessness. Training programs offer community members the opportunity to learn and grow in a culture-based setting.

Today, AHT not only promotes Traditional Aboriginal practices but has affirmed and placed them at its core. Its model of health care is based on Traditional practices and approaches and is reflected in the design of its programs and services.

Excerpt from secure.toronto.ca/nm/api/individual/notice/2413.do:

Description

Take notice that Toronto City Council intends to designate the lands and building known municipally as 425 Cherry Street under Part IV, Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act.

Reasons for Designation

The property at 425 Cherry Street is worthy of designation under Part IV, Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act for its cultural heritage value, and meets Ontario Regulation 9/06, the provincial criteria prescribed for municipal designation under 5 criteria of design and physical, historical and associative, and contextual values.

Description

The property at 425 Cherry Street is located at the southeast corner of Front Street East and Cherry Street. The building is comprised of a three-storey structure fronting on Cherry Street, with a three-storey warehouse addition behind, extending along Front Street East. The building was constructed in three major stages - the two-storey Palace Street School, constructed in 1859 and designed by architect Joseph Sheard in the Jacobean style with an addition in 1869 by architect William Irving; the three-storey Cherry Street Hotel, constructed in 1890 incorporating the former school and designed by architect David Roberts Jr. in the Queen Anne Revival style; and the three-storey warehouse, constructed in c.1920.

Statement of Cultural Heritage Value

Design and Physical Value

The property at 425 Cherry Street is valued as a representative example of an evolved building type and style, reflecting the evolution of the property from its early use as one of the city's early "free" schools, to a hotel, a warehouse, and a restaurant. The building contains representative elements of the Jacobean and Queen Anne Revival styles, the former being used for many of the first schools constructed by the Toronto Board of Education, and the latter a popular style in Toronto for house form and hotel buildings between 1880 and 1910. While altered through later additions, elements of the Jacobean style can be seen on the first two floors of the former school's west and south facades, including the use of brick cladding (buff and red), brick quoins at the window surrounds and at the building's corners, the symmetrical organization of the facades featuring central projecting frontispieces bound by large rectangular window openings; and the stone drip moulds over the south entrance and the second storey window above. The building's Queen Anne Revival style is evidenced in the portion of the building constructed as the hotel (at the corner of Front and Cherry Streets) and in the third floor addition above the former school, and include the mansard roof with dormer windows; the arched window openings on the second storey; the elaborate use of brick ornamentation at the second storey cornice; the large plate-glass storefront windows with sandstone details; and the Dutch gable with inset Palladian window opening. The three-storey warehouse addition features elements indicative of the warehouse building type, including large rectangular window openings with cast stone lintels and brick sills; a flat roof with brick parapet; and minimal architectural ornamentation.

Historical and Associative Value

The historical and associative value of the property at 425 Cherry Street resides in its construction as the Palace Street School (1859), its subsequent adaptive reuse as the Cherry Street Hotel (1890) it's later conversion for use as a warehouse for various manufacturing and transportation-related businesses (1920), and its having been the location of the Canary Grill, from 1965 to 2007. Originally constructed in 1859 as one of the early "free" schools built in Toronto by the Toronto Board of Education and the first free school to serve St. Lawrence Ward, the one-storey schoolhouse was designed by architect, alderman and future Mayor of Toronto, Joseph Sheard. In 1869 the structure was expanded to the designs of architect William Irving, a former apprentice in Sheard's office and a prolific architect in Toronto through the second half of the 19th century. The Palace Street School is also associated with Georgina Stanley Reid, an educator with the Toronto Board of Education who served as principal of the school from 1882 until its closure in 1887, and who continued to serve as principal of its replacement school, Sackville Street Public School (now Inglenook Community School), until her retirement in 1912.

Following construction of the larger Sackville Street Public School in 1887, the Toronto Board of Education sold the property to brewer, businessman, and real estate developer Robert Thomas Davies, who had the building converted into a hotel to the designs of architect David Roberts Jr. in 1890. David Roberts Jr. had previously designed much of the nearby Gooderham and Worts Distillery, as well as a number of hotels, including the nearby Dominion Hotel on Queen Street East, which was also owned by Davies. Robert Davies was an influential industrialist in late Victorian Toronto who owned a concentration of businesses along the Don River; he was the founder of the Dominion Brewery, and later owned the Don Valley Brick Works and Don Valley Paper Company Limited. The hotel which at various times was called the Iverson Hotel, Darcy's Hotel/Hall, Eastern Star Hotel, and Cherry Street Hotel, was a fixture within the Corktown community from 1890 to 1910, however its role within the neighbourhood diminished alongside the demolition of the surrounding area's residential character, the displacement of the neighbourhood's working-class residents, the relocation of the nearby Don Station, and the expansion of railway lines and supporting industries. The property was subsequently converted for warehouse and manufacturing use, and the three storey warehouse addition was constructed on the east façade of the building c.1920.

In 1965 the Canary Grill moved into the first floor, and became a well-known establishment within the area catering to those employed in transportation and manufacturing-related industries, as well as commuters. Through the latter half of the 20th century studio spaces within the building were leased to a wide range of creative and cultural tenants, including musicians, artists, manufacturers and cultural sector workers. In the late 1980s, the property was expropriated as part of the joint municipal and provincial governments' plans to redevelop the West Don Lands into a new neighbourhood, called "Ataratiri". The expropriation resulted in the eviction of many of the building's tenants, however the Canary Grill remained open until 2007, after which the building was fully vacated.

Contextual Value

Contextually, the Palace Street School / Cherry Street Hotel is significant in its relation to the former Canadian National Railways Office Building, located on the northeast corner of Front Street East and Cherry Street, and is part of a larger post-industrial landscape within the West Don Lands, which includes the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, Cherry Street Interlocking Station, and the Dominion Foundry Complex. The CNR Office Building was constructed in 1923, and is recognized on the City of Toronto's Heritage Register. The two buildings complement each other, with similar setbacks from the corner and with a common low-scale brick clad form. Together, the properties form a gateway into the West Don Lands neighbourhood, a mixed-use area constructed as part of the 2015 Pan Am and Para Pan Games, and form a significant landmark within the community.

Final departure from Manchester for G-VLIP as it heads to Ciudad Real, central Spain, for storage.

Named: "Hot Lips", later "The Falcon" (Sep-19).

Originally ordered by GECAS for lease to Alitalia as EI-CVI, the lease was cancelled and the aircraft was leased to Virgin Atlantic Airways as G-VLIP in May-01.

In May-10 it carried large 'Harry Potter' graphics until Jan-11. In Sep-19 the aircraft was renamed 'The Falcon' and repainted in a Star Wars 'Millennium Falcon' special livery promoting the 'Star Ward - Galaxy's Edge' movie.

Virgin Atlantic were due to start retiring their seven remaining B747-400's from the end of 2000, however the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 caused them to retire the aircraft early. All seven aircraft were initially stored at Manchester, UK in Mar/Apr-20.

They are gradually being moved to Ciudad Real in central Spain for long term storage and lease return. This aircraft ferried Manchester / Ciudad Real on 15-Jun-20.

It was ferried to London-Heathrow and onwards to Marana, AZ, USA in Dec-20 where it was permanently retired.

Classical Khmer kings of medieval Cambodia promoted the notion of Devarāja, a cult of the "god-king” that provided the religious rationale for royal authority. They were depicted as divine universal rulers or deified monarchs with transcendental qualities.

The gigantic sandstone smiling faces at Bayon Temple portray the great Mahayana Buddhist king, Jayavarman VII, as a living god on earth - a Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara or enlightened Buddhist saint overseeing a vast and disparate empire with an enigmatic blend of benevolence and absolute authority.

Bayon Temple served as the primary locus of the royal cult and was Jayavarman's personal mausoleum at the height of his rein over the Khmer Empire in the late 12th Century. The temple is positioned at the centre of the ancient Angkor Thom city complex and rural in northwestern Cambodia. Over 200 serenely smiling visages carved on more than 50 sandstone face-towers remain throughout the temple. UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Matera has gained international fame for its ancient town, the "Sassi di Matera" (meaning "stones of Matera"). The Sassi originated in a prehistoric troglodyte settlement, and these dwellings are thought to be among the first ever human settlements in what is now Italy. The Sassi are habitations dug into the calcareous rock itself, which is characteristic of Basilicata and Apulia. Many of them are really little more than caverns, and in some parts of the Sassi a street lies on top of another group of dwellings. The ancient town grew up on one slope of the rocky ravine created by a river that is now a small stream, and this ravine is known locally as "la Gravina". In the 1950s, the government of Italy used force to relocate most of the population of the Sassi to areas of the developing modern city.

Until the late 1980s the Sassi was considered an area of poverty, since its dwellings were, and in most cases still are, uninhabitable. The present local administration, however, has become more tourism-oriented, and it has promoted the regeneration of the Sassi with the aid of the Italian government, UNESCO, and Hollywood. Today there are many thriving businesses, pubs, and hotels there.

Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom.

The flags do not carry prayers to gods, which is a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space.

This 360 degree HDR panorama has been taken at the Angels Landing summit in Zion National Park on January 15th, 2012 with Nikon D3 and a Nikkor 18-35mm/F3.5-4.5D lens mounted on a Gigapan Epic Pro motorized panoramic head. The Promote Control was started by the Gigapan pano head at every panoramic position. The series of images were batch-processed in Photomatix Pro and the resulting HDR images were assembled using PTGui Pro to form a 360 degree equirectangular panorama.

To mark the promotion of Ipswich Town Football Club from the Championship to the Premier League 2023-24 Season.

Recently, Julian promoted me on Tumblr, and I wanted to do this as a small dedication to him. His grainy film of gorgeous landscapes with quotes that really make you think are inspiring and often keep you flicking through photos for far too long. He’s a great person, with extraordinary talent. You can follow his project 365 here, or see all of his photography here.

Shelsley Walsh, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday 3rd June 2023.

About the photograph.

I have no idea who he is, if he had been in or near his car, I would have checked the car’s racing number against the programme guide to look up his name and information about him.

Here, I saw him walking casually, no idea where he was going, maybe just going for a walk to stretch his legs, so I took the chance to get a few shots.

It was shot in colour, but I couldn’t make the colour shot look interesting enough, so I figure to use Adobe Lightroom to convert it into black and white.

This was taken near the entrance into the paddock area at the Shelsely Walsh speed hill climb event.

About Shelsley Walsh.

Shelsley Walsh is a motorsports speed hill climb track in Worcestershire, and organised by the Midland Automobile Club (MAC).

It is one of the oldest motorsports event, having started in 1905, and held events every year, except for the two World Wars.

It is also a notably steep course by today’s hill climb standards, rising 328ft / 100m over its 1000 yards / 914 metres length.

The track and course do not belong to MAC, it is leased from the local landowner. The original lease ran for 99 years, and in 2005, a new lease was signed for the next 99 years.
