Para os nativos, isolamento e privação fazem parte do cotidiano. Dona Jandira não tem luz eletrica, água encanada ou banheiro em sua casa. O riacho é sua lavanderia e a praia o melhor lugar para limpar os peixes.
This was taken around 7:30 am while the sun was still relatively low in the mostly sunny sky.
My ISO was set to 100.
My shutter speed was 1/10.
My F-Stop was 5.6.
I used a tripod.
I set the f-stop to a lower number with the intention of putting the foreground lines out of focus but that did not really work. Nonetheless, I like how it came out. I put the train car in the top third of the frame. I tried angling to get away from horizontal lines but I found this shot to be more pleasing.

That's a Mango Pineapple Empanada (from Starbucks), a cup of Earl Grey tea (I like to put condensed milk in mine)...but that snake better keep away from my breakfast...it looks like it's up to no good!
The Breaking Barriers project, led by three 14 year old youth club members, was funded through the Youth Opportunity Fund. The Youth Opportunity Fund is money given to positive projects across England by local panels of young people making the decisions.
Breaking Barriers won an Actions Speak Louder award for its innovative and powerful work building understanding between young people from different areas and different gangs through youth activities and taking gang members on residential trips.
With the money from their Actions Speak Louder prize, the Breaking Barriers project plan to run further residentials and activities across a wider range of youth clubs in the Borough of Lambeth.
This project, titled “2011,” was very sentimental for me— bittersweet moments looking back at who I used to be and how I’ve changed, for better or for worse. The five best photos are memories that I hold, and show no text to represent their purity, while the rest are based on how I view those spaces. These spaces are where my body feels the most emotion, as what you see is what younger me would have seen (a blast from the past), and are consistent throughout the album because of their importance to my development. I then took pages from my first grade school journal, with all her heartfelt honesty, and intertwined them. The bedroom pictures are relatively edited the same because my bedroom hasn’t changed much; I start the day with dappled sunlight. I get more open to experimentation when I exit the room and head outside to the patio, or next door to my grandmother’s house. Her pool holds the most memories, which is why it takes up the majority of the album. Times where I’m having fun with my family, or where I feel so isolated that I pretend I’m in the womb— they wrap up in a time capsule held underwater. There’s a juxtaposition between emotions that I tried to emulate as well, with all the mood swings I had as a child because of ‘circumstances.’ The haziness and faded senses of nostalgia linger, with bursts of childish whimsy. Each “day” is different— same start, different progression— and I’d like to keep it that way. Overall, I’m proud of my past and present self, and am wishing my future self a very special good luck!
Cincinnati's own reggae-jam-rockers Elementree Livity Project kicked off the festivities at the inaugural David Shaw's Big River Getdown held in Hamilton, Ohio.
Sundays are one of the best days of the week, to me at least. I especially love when it's sunny. My cat loves it as well, he was showing off and rolling around on the sidewalk.
Another major section in DJ's cookbook is on main ingredients used throughout the book. Fresh ground pepper is one of his favorite. This is a sample image from that section -- the pepper grinder (the only brand he would buy: Professional Atlas).
my favorite experiment with photography, which involves blowing up objects with projected light. I slightly adjusted the levels - but other than that, it is the true result.
Flame project is an international US-Cambodia collaboration expedition that seeks to understand water quality from Laos to the Vietnam Border. The team is studying the health of the river, water quality, mercury, plastic pollution, greenhouse gases (methane carbon dioxide) that are important for climate change. The project is led by Dr. Sudeep Chandra, professor of the University of Nevada Reno and member of the Wonders of the Mekong team. The FLAME project was started on 18 February 2022 by boat from Phnom Penh along Bassac River to the Vietnam border and back, and the next day from Phnom Penh along the Mekong River to the Vietnam border and back. From 20-26 February 2022 we are going upstream from Phnom Penh getting through Kampong Cham, Kratie provinces, and finishing at the Onlong Chheur Teal dolphin pools near the Lao border in Stung Treng Province.
