Despite the fall in share prices and price to earnings ratios since the market slump began, this graph from Citigroup's strategy team in Sydney shows that we are still well above historic levels for company profitability. When compared with the rest of the world, we're also doing pretty well. If figures "revert to the mean" then expect share prices and P/E ratios to fall even further. Bargain hunting may have to wait.

As part of the Communities to Markets (C2M) project, Activity 2 was implemented on August 17, 2025, in Mfakkar Ash-Sharqi village, Salamieh – Hama, with the objective of facilitating the development of business plans and models for cooperatives and Community Interest Groups (CIGs). This initiative aimed to support those previously assisted by the C2M project by providing six financial grants to enhance productivity, increase profitability, and enable entry into new markets. The grants supported income-generating activities in a collaborative framework, tailored to the local community’s needs. During the field visit, the project team conducted follow-up with the Beekeeping CIG in Mfakkar Ash-Sharqi, where they oversaw the sorting and collection of honey, ensuring continuity and progress in the group’s production processes. This activity aligns with the overarching theme of the C2M project, which supports stakeholders and individuals with common interests in establishing, protecting, sustaining, and improving income-generating activities and value chains. The project ultimately seeks to deliver added-value initiatives, improve access to markets, enhance productivity and profitability, promote green transitions, and strengthen community-based models. This activity was funded and implemented by AKF.
