Wood Stork close-up
From - Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission:
The wood stork is a large, long legged wading bird that reaches a length of 35-45 inches (89-114 centimeters) with a wingspan of 60-65 inches (152-165 centimeters). The primary and tail feathers are black (J. Rodgers pers comm. 2011). The head and upper neck of adult wood storks have no feathers, but have gray rough scaly skin. Wood storks also have a black bill and black legs with pink toes. Adult wood storks are voiceless and are capable of only making hissing sounds.
I captured this image of a man working in the Union Square Green Market in New York City. There's a lot of life written in his face.
Encounter in a local park last weekend. At this time of year lots of Mandarin ducks gather at a pond there. They disappear in spring, I have no idea where they are going. It's a shame that they don't stay at that pond because I would love to see them raise their ducklings.
Tiny for the "Happy Caturday" theme "Profile view".
I apologize for not posting for the last week's theme, I've had an unexpected and not very pleasant motif.
"Having a bunch of cats around is good. If you're feeling bad, you just look at the cats, you'll feel better because they know that everything is just as it is. There's nothing to get excited about. They just know. They're saviors." - Charles Bukowski
All's well now and I'm happy to tell you that Aki is a bit better than last weekend.
Have a very happy Caturday!
