What’s better than eating a popsicle on a hot day? Getting to socialize with amazing University faculty at the same time! Pops with Professors, the first Honors Student Council event of the school year, had a clear purpose - get students to talk to their professors. Almost 90 students and 20 faculty members met in the Kurz Hall courtyard to enjoy popsicles from local business Cocoberry Pops as they discussed school, careers, and which flavor they found the tastiest. Professor Muffy Sinclair, from the Department of Communication, said that “it was nice to see people in a different setting. This kind of event provides an opportunity not only for students and faculty to interact casually but for students to practice networking skills which become critical.” Students also loved the event. Loren Moody, a first-year theater major, said the chai tea popsicle was really good; the cherry limeade, however, seems to have been the crowd favorite. For students intimidated by formal networking events, this opportunity to mingle was a sweet solution!
