Recently, I was a photographer for the McGill Women in Leadership Student Association's first Trailblazer's Testimonies event. It was great to be a part of!
Last night I finished Tony Robbins' Get the Edge program. It took a few weeks, but I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I learned a bunch about myself and feel a bit more prepared to take on life in a more proactive way.
The last assignment was writing out the "purpose of my life". Which is was pretty darn difficult if you ask me. This was the first thing that came to mind. I feel like I have more on than one purpose in life, but I think this one is a solid statement for now.

The proactive member-based organization (formerly Interfaith Worker Rights Center) assists and organizes exploited workers and provides education and training as a means to prevent future abuse. They also campaign for state and national policy change and enforcement. We started the grant process with a complete brand overhaul including renaming the organization and its programs, creating a new logo system for congruency and developing a new mission and tagline. We finished with the design of their website to allow them to take their newly unified voice to the web.
A new specialist team cracking down on robberies and key suspects across Manchester has secured five arrests in an overnight operation.
The team – working across one of the busiest and most diverse districts in the country – will be working to bring down robbery levels, strengthen investigative outcomes, and build greater public confidence through its sustained proactive work.
In recent weeks, the team has already begun to secure results as part of their goal, including last night’s arrests.
At around 7.30pm, officers from the team stopped a 24-year-old man in the Tib Street area.
Following a search, a mobile phone – suspected of being stolen – was recovered. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
Officers then conducted a search of the suspect’s address in Withington, with a further quantity of suspected stolen goods recovered. This includes five high-value push bikes, 26 mobile phones, multiple tablet devices, laptops, watches, and designer clothing.
Around £15,000 in cash was additionally seized. The items will be assessed and analysed over the coming days.
As part of the work at the address, a further four men, aged between 19 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of offences including handling stolen goods, possession of criminal property, and money laundering.
Inspector Leon McLaughlin, from the newly created team, said: “This overnight work saw us achieve five arrests and seize tens of thousands of pounds worth of cash and suspected stolen goods.
“This shows how effective our proactive work can be – while it began with a stop-search, we are now launching a much wider-scale investigation into robbery and criminal goods offences.
“I have no doubt at all that we will continue to produce more successful results as the team continues to work with local neighbourhood teams ,
specialist resources, and response officers to secure arrests, charges, and more.”
Force lead for Robbery at Greater Manchester Police, Chief Superintendent Helen Critchley said: “Robbery is a crime that causes untold and lasting harm to its victims. In addition to the impact on the victims themselves these offences often happen in open and public spaces, and so affect feelings of safety in the local community.
“Within GMP, we are committed to the role of effective neighbourhood policing in providing public reassurance, preventing these offences and responding efficiently when they do.
“As part of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee the force has invested in the creation of a new City of Manchester robbery team, who will be tackling all aspects of robbery, including knife-enabled robbery.
“These frontline officers will provide a visible deterrent, proactively target offenders and when offences do occur, they will provide a best standard of initial investigation to maximise opportunities to bring offenders to justice."

The Bambi trailer has always been a favorite among Airstreamers. First launched as a 16-foot single-axle trailer in 1961, the Bambi’s genesis was a proactive response to a nationwide trend. Americans were looking for shorter, lighter, more fuel-efficient automobiles that lacked the power to pull a heavy trailer.
Today, we apply the Bambi name to all single-axle Airstream travel trailers. Their immense popularity isn’t just because of how they look: they’re easy to tow and incredibly versatile, proving great things really do come in small packages. From the Airstream Sport to the single-axle versions of the Flying Cloud and International, every inch is designed for maximum utility and comfort.
Airstream’s first ride was in 1929, but really Airstream was born the first time Wally Byam left home. Wally’s early life – schooling, sailing, camping, and working – all came together to form a vision of the open road, the outdoors, and freedom. That vision was realized in a tent on a Model T chassis. It was realized in a boy working to pay for his school. It was realized when Wally Byam built that first trailer, and it’s still alive today.
In 1931, Airstream began with Wally Byam’s dream: to build a travel trailer that would move like a stream of air, be light enough to be towed by a car, and create first-class accommodations anywhere.
Every inch of an Airstream has a function. Airstream is the most thoroughly tested brand in trailer history. Its engineering is the culmination of over 80 years of experience plus millions of miles on roads throughout the world.
With Airstream, there is no planned obsolescence. Airstreams of the Thirties are still on the road today, sturdy and modern as ever. They are intended as a lifetime investment in happiness.
We can be pouting, reactive babies, or we can be powerful, proactive adults. #motivation #inspiration
A Tameside policing operation has cracked down on ASB with proactive patrols tackling everything from drug use to problematic street drinking.
A proactive policing operation was launched in June, with funding providing extra patrols across Ashton-under-Lyne and surrounding areas identified as having repeat offences, including local transport hubs and shopping spots.
Officers target these areas at peak times and further undertake disruption visits to pre-emptively stop incidents.
The operation has seen a crackdown and multiple actions and positive outcomes. July, August, and September saw a range of results in Ashton town centre, including 12 arrests, 28 stop-searches, 33 public space protection order warnings issued, and 30 logs responded to.
As an example of the reduction in quarter three of this year, August reported 30 incidents of ASB, while September recorded 10 – showing the positive effects of the ongoing work.
The operation has meant more patrols have been targeting the issues that the public care about and ensuring that criminals and anti-social behaviour are stopped in their tracks.
Tameside work.
As part of anti-social behaviour week, on Wednesday, neighbourhood officers in Ashton town centre secured two arrests on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug, which resulted in street cautions.
Further cautions were issued for someone smoking cannabis in public, while other people were provided with words of advice.
Sergeant Rob Froggatt, from GMP’s Tameside district, said: “People want to see officers out and about in the community, engaging with the public, and locking up those who disrupt their lives. Our operation is delivering exactly that.
“We know and appreciate just how much anti-social behaviour can disrupt people’s lives – whether it’s people taking drugs in public or intimidating people in town centres – and our work is designed to crack down on exactly those sort of offences.
“In addition to our own work, we liaise closely with partners in the community, including local charities and services, to ensure we stop ASB from progressing into more serious offences. Likewise, by conducting preventative engagement work, we can stop the offences from ever happening.
“If you are having issues with ASB, I would urge you to get in touch with your local team, who will be best-placed to offer advice and support on the issues you are having.”
