Manchester saw officers and staff from 17 police forces and policing organisations walking as Police with Pride in the Manchester Pride Parade on Saturday 25th August.

Officers and staff from across the country lead the parade as Greater Manchester Police (GMP) celebrated its 10th anniversary of taking part in the parade.

GMP mascots Constable Cub and Pippa the Panda were also there to join in the celebrations.

The parade entry was organised by Police with Pride, which consists of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) representatives from forces across the North West who organise and promote the event nationally.

Darrelle Lynch, coordinator of GMP's Lesbian and Gay Staff Affiliation (LAGSA), said: "This year has seen another fantastic response, with an increase in the numbers taking part and the number of police forces represented. It shows that confidence is increasing among our LGBT staff, who walked through the streets of Manchester proudly.

"Taking part in Pride will hopefully send out a strong message to LGBT communities that you can be gay or trans and work for the police. It should also give them confidence to talk to the police and report crimes in the knowledge that they will be taken seriously. We are committed to erasing hate crime in our communities, and anyone who has been targeted because of their sexual orientation or gender identity should always tell us, as we will take action."

Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy said: "This year's parade is dedicated to the code-breaking mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing, whose work during the Second World War was vital, and whose sexuality resulted in a criminal prosecution in 1952. It's worth remembering how far we have come, and that it is totally unacceptable for people to be treated in this way. Manchester Pride is a very important event for GMP and I am especially proud that our officers and staff, myself included, lead the parade this year."

The GMP float for this year's parade displayed banners encouraging people to report hate crime, and explaining that the offence covers five main areas - disability, gender-identity, race, religion or faith and sexual orientation.

Last wednesday I ran into some young girls and boys from Amnesty. They had been working, but now was just hanging out partying. I found myself, along side Belinda, actually really liking these young people, which I very seldom experience since 97% of ”ordinary” people in my humble eyes are insane. But that formula, that percentage, is obviously not that destinct when it comes to people voluntering for causes like world peace, common sense, personal rights and general freedom.

Anyway suddenly yesterday, a girl stood smiling before me saying... ”Remember me?”, one does not forget a free spirited princess that fast, so we hung out once more. But a funny thing happened as I was sitting among all these young people (Start twenty´s) We was talking about sexuality when a young (very sweet) gay guy said something like ”We actually have quite a lot in common you and I...” (Refering to the obstacles in life being who we are) Where to Louise (The free spirited princess) said ”I might be heterosexual, but I am not that different from you 2... ”. Where to the young gay guy after a moments hesitation said... ”I guess... we do have something in common all us 3... we all LOVE men.” - I may have been drunk... but I laughed like a child :o)

Then one of the girls took of her hat and placed it on my head saying, it really suits you!! Which... I of cause imediately exploided as a chance for taking a picture ;o)

I'm SUCH a photo slut ;o)

To celebrate this weekend’s Manchester Pride festival, the city’s annual celebration of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender life, we have put together a gallery of images from our archives featuring police participation in the Manchester Pride Parade dating back to 2003.

A police contingent, made up of officers and staff from Greater Manchester Police’s Pride Network, members of police forces from around the country plus friends and supporters, will once again join the spectacular event in the city. They will be marching under the ‘Policing With Pride’ banner.

The annual festival, sees thousands of people flock to the city to take part in events ranging from the parade, to theatre, comedy and music.

The festival culminates with the HIV Candlelit Vigil in memory of those lost to the virus.

Kalamazoo Pride 2012

Kalamazoo, Michigan

A big turnout of the cast and crew for director Nicole Conn's latest lesbian potboiler. Flawed by her characteristic heavy handedness this is, at least, new territory in the lesbian romance genre in which an older (frigid) woman finds erotic fulfillment and love with a young call girl. Stunning brunette (an actual lesbian) with exotic Nigerian, Indian mix and mid-atlantic accent smokes up the screen. Heartfelt, vulnerable performance by Barbara Niven as the older woman who laments that she is less than perfect. Indeed we even get to see stretch marks. The older woman is also quite wealthy and so uptight in that pearl wearing way, that part of the fun is watching her come undone. Both actresses at the Castro standing to the right of the director (seen here with the mike). To the far right is her wife and whip for producing more films for a maturing lesbian audience.

Last year the director boasted that she had filmed the longest screen kiss in her movie Elena Undone. This year I would say she was going for the longest filmed orgasm. Her strength is in directing love scenes filled with chemistry and there was plenty. She also includes a great deal of affectionate humor. It is her obvious earnestness to do her best for a lesbian audience that has endeared her to us in contrast to Lisa Cholodenko, the director of The Kids Are Alright and High Art, who tends to annoy the lesbian community by consistently pointing up unflattering, but intriguing elements that are not exactly a fair representation of the population, while putting her finger on sensitive flaws of lesbian culture and our relationships.

Interestingly, in this movie, Nicole reveals a rather puritan morality. i.e. the husband must be unfeeling and callous as well as a rapist to ensure our sympathy for this adulterous fling and final betrayal. While the call girl must also have a tragic past in order to justify her despair so as to have a reason for taking up the sex trade. Yet feminist politics demands that the director also give lip service to a woman's right to be a prostitute in lines given to an older, more seasoned hooker who points out that some of them like what they are doing. They are also high end hookers so make a lot of money. Enough to allow the younger call girl to pursue her passion as an artist. In fact a large part of the film is devoted to artistic effect of the artists pointillism to drive home the point so to speak.

In contrast to my own generation, that is those old fools my age who most disgracefully I must add call them self adults, I not only seem to have more in common with, but also to understand young people better.

This is Louise, a true princess of the order of Amnesty. Which, as a contrast to the old school princesses of blood and family, not is a title that can be inherited, but as the vows of nonne must be obtained by heart and devotion, to actually performing IRL good deeds.

But innocent looks can be deceiving. I was marveled to put it mildly, by the ”emotional brainyness” of this young girl. If 1 out of 10 on this earth, had the wisdom of this young girl, the world would not only slowly and steadily evolve into paradise, but within 2 generations the human race would reach the star of Alpha Centauri, as crown to prosperity and wisdom.

I sometimes wonder if a true civilized race would spend serious money like this - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_budget

Well... that is in fact not quite true... I don't wonder, I KNOW they wouldn't!

As I say, 97% of ”civilized” people, are truly insane,.. Not joking.

This is me and Lonnie Lamour. She is a VERY special person, very often out on the town and always dressed in only the most sparkling of dresses. She has the radiance of a true queen, not the stage kind, and everyone including me instinctively obey her wishes. But it is not authority of the bad kind, on the contrary, Lonnie Lamour has a heart of gold that shine through like the sparkling gemstones of her dresses. - To day due to the parade she was going for the ”Bollywood” theme and rumors would know that the wagon with that theme actually won the price this year :o)

As seen near Civic Center, San Francisco.
