Students in the 2022 SURF program presented highlights of their experiences on 8/5/22. The Misericordia University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program (SURF) is sponsored by the Vice President of Academic Affairs Office. It provides undergraduate students with stipends to participate in a 10-week summer research training program from 5/31/2022 – 8/05/22 on the Misericordia campus. Research fellows receive one-on-one, faculty-guided research opportunities and participate in bi-weekly professional development seminars geared toward preparing them for graduate school, future research experiences, and employment. The summer program culminates with two mandatory presentations of the students’ findings: a 10-minute oral presentation in the last week of the program and a poster presentation in October for the entire campus community. I was a guest speaker at the annual North American Montessori Teachers Association in Chicago on April 16th. I delivered a three hour presentation to Montessorians from as far as Sweden, Mexico, Japan, and of course the United States.

The Made in Jablonec 2025 fashion show, subtitled Fashion without Limits, took place at the Jablonec Eurocentre at the end of January. The unique show brought the glassmaking tradition together with innovation and became not only a celebration of the glassmaker’s art, but also an opportunity for inspiration. Made in Jablonec 2025 showed the very best of the artistry of master glassmakers and costume jewelry designers. It constitutes a presentation of both well-known glassmaking companies and talented creators who have extended the bounds of the possible all in one place.
