I can't wait for Friday but here's some things you need to know I'm posting a smash bros show case on Thursday on my youtube so you can watch it and I use my dads account because all the data is saved and I will be playing with my sisters first and any way see you in smash!!

So, this year we had 2 dolls offered as IT shop exclusives (Vio and Ale) and 2 dolls offered via NuFace Event (Dom and Rayna). Before we move on, a small disclaimer: all dolls were designed by Jessy Ayala, a designer I really appreciate. I didn't count, but I am sure that close, or at least, half of the dolls from my collection were designed by him. That shows how much I like him. So, everything I will write here comes from the deep of my heart as a collector and believe me, I would be thrilled if all of these dolls were great.

Varsity Alejandra - I am starting from the best. When this character was revealed earlier this year, I didn't like her. Her head seems too big and sculpt lacks details. I still think the same, but this time her makeup is sooo much softer than on her first reveal that for some reason I love her! She reminds me on Hauntingly Beautiful Ayumi (I have noticed that Jessy likes to give us the same dolls all over again, but I aint complaining in this case), and she is one of my favorite NuFace dolls. I think she will redress beautifully. I am not crazy for her hairstyle (my least favorite), but it works for this look. I know some of you may dislike me saying this, but she reminds me on Ariana Grande! Regarding her outfit, I think that bra, jacket and top could be used for mix and match. Not sure about those boots though. In any case, her outfit is the best one. What I would do different: maybe add a bag as a baseball ball instead of simple white bag. Still, I am getting her.

En Pointe Vio - I was very excited to see her as I was floored by Fashion Legacy a few months ago. I am kind of disappointed we got a brunette again, blonde or platinum hair would look better IMO. I love her hairstyle and how her face is subtle. But, her fashion is at best strange looking. She is a mix of motorcyclist and a ballerina!?! She has a very unattractive belt bra under the shirt and with those ballerina shoes, I feel unconformable when I look at her. I am sooo over that hat we saw on Rayna earlier this year. I have never seen a motorcyclist or a balerinna with that kind of a hat! What I would do different: replace hat with a small crown, leave belt bra and add simple bodysuit. For now, she is a no.

MVP Rayna - I was afraid that we could see this screening again after Wild Feeling. I do not like those big eyes and wonky left eye. But, here it is again. Inspiration for her was rugby, believe it or not. I love her haircolor, but hairstyle is out of place. I am not into sports, but do rugby players have a hairstyle like this, like two pigtails? Weird. Her makeup is nice, but I am not sure about that green line that goes above her eyes, again weird looking. I am sorry for saying this, but this fashion might be one of the worst I have ever seen. That length of the pants never look good in person + she has short heels and Poppy feet. Pants has lace details on the front, for some reason I am expecting that her pants drop any second. Her jacket has ripped off sleeves details. Not sure what the bag is representing. The shoes has details seen on the rugby ball. What I would do different: beyond salvageable. I will definitely not be preordering this one.

Adrenaline Rush Dominique - Intro: If you missed on convention ticket, like I did, the only way you could get a doll at retail is getting NuFace event ticket. That event includes one NuFace doll as a gift and a right to buy a centerpiece of that event (when con was held in person you used to get a lunch, too). Me, and over a 2k other members, got the ticket. Reason? Gift dolls used to be very beautiful at these events, I will name a few: Public Adoration Eden, Sneak Peek Eden, Out of Sight Nadja (Evening Siren Ayumi, I think, but you got the point). So, it was a no brainer for me. When you say NuFace event you could imagine there will be a nice atmosphere, a chat with the designer of the line, inspiration behind the designs, reveal of future directions for the collection, fun and interesting stories about the creation of the dolls, and such. Instead, we got a full room of designers (I do not want to hear about Poppy on a NuFace event, or any other character/line as a matter of fact), where most of them looked tired and grumpy (except Mark and Chris), they analyzed the behavior of the members and they said some things I personally didn't like (but I will not dwelve on that here). On top of all of that, we got this Dom. I feel kind of tricked as although designers mentioned that they do not design "ugly" doll on purpose, they do know which sculpts and looks are desirable, so risking this much with a give away doll is a bit disrespectable.

Review: While Impossibly Beautiful screening is my favorite screening for Dom, it looks very unattractive here, and the reason for that might be unnatural eyes color and that stark white line above the eyes. Flocked/shaved hair adds sharpness to the look, and you get a doll very few people like. Her outfit is inspired by motocross (hope I wrote this right, you can tell my enthusiasm for sports). The top is kind of OK, but I do not see the point of the cut-outs on the pants. Shoes are actually nice. She has no accessories aside earrings! Now, come on, even dolls from basic line had sunglasses, ring, bracelet, or something. In my mind, she is an action figure (Star Track) and only needs a high-tech sword or a gun. Hell, I would even like that, just something to justify the price. What I would do differently: make a skirt out of pants and add a jacket. I am getting her unfortunately as nobody wants her...

To sum up, we got three sculpts we already got this year with the same screenings, I bet savings are great for IT, and that would be great if the prices remained the same... Regarding design, I think this collection is just a tad better than Counter Couture Jessy designed a few years back, or at the same level. I get it maybe Jessy got a task to design Barbie in Sports line, but even if the theme was sport, the designs could have been more cohesive, less literal interpretation and more details inspired by sports. On a scale of 1-5 I would give a 2.5

A note to IT: when you decrease number of dolls in a collection you increase the risk that some of them or most of them are not to the likings of collectors, when we had 6 dolls collections designers had more space to make a mistake. I am sure designers are under a great stress, just like we collectors are.

No BC stats were published today as it's Sunday.

In Canada, there have been at least 363,056 cases reported. In the last week 36,635 new cases were announced, 5 per cent more than the previous week. There have also been at least 289,676 recoveries and 11,971 deaths. Health officials have administered more than 12,733,319 tests.

The chairman of American vaccine maker Moderna says Canada is near the front of the line to receive 20 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine it preordered. The statement comes, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faces questions about the government’s ability to deliver a timely vaccine to Canadians. Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole has also charged that the Liberal government put too much emphasis on the collaboration with Chinese vaccine-maker CanSino.

Population of Canada is 37.59 million of which

BC is 5.1 million.

The sale ends on the 16th, and Jax won't come with the fur coat and accessories after the 16th. She's been one of my favorites since they were released.

Another gorgeous creation from Integrity this year. She is one of the only two dolls I preordered this year and I totally, totally love her.

Another year has come and gone, and it is time to take a look at our collections, what we got, what we sold, how good the year was from the point of collecting.

When I started making the list, I was actually surprised I got so many dolls this year! And of-course I forgot to take a photo of one of them - Festive Lights Constance :( so 26 joined my collection in 2021. Dolls sold: 0. Not good ratio, right? I will try to do better this year (one of those New Year's resolutions I never follow).

The reason why I was surprised by the number of dolls I got was dolly drought we had from February till October. During that time, totally unplanned, I got: Magic IT Girl Colette, Siren Silhouette Korinne, Party at Hamptons Poppy, Acquired Traits Natalia, Festive Lights Constance, Late Night Dream Victoire, Fall Elyse, and Bright and Merry Della. Aside Della and Korinne, I am not sure I needed any else (this is a perfect example of what boredom does to a collector, and a collection).

During Summer, Basics dolls arrived (Agnes, Poppy and Lilith), I would say all of them were pretty great, Lilith is staying for sure, but I will have to reconsider Poppy and Agnes. Than, end of the Summer brought Wclub dolls Rayna and Violaine. Autumn was marked by an avalanche of dolls, first upgrades, than preordered Agneses (yellow and silver), Navia, and Vanessa. All of them are super beautiful! A cherry on the top for me was Intimate Soiree, which I decided to get right at the end of the year. Although I was very excited to get Enamorada (a

So, 12 FRs, 6 Nuface dolls, 3 East 59th, 1 Meteor, and 4 Poppys. This year was rather thin regarding NuFace girls, we had only 4 dolls available to all (upgrade Nadja, Lilith Basics, Reckless Rayna and Alejandra) and 4 dolls at the convention. If you only collect this line, I do not think that is enough to be interested. I have discussed with a member here, I think 2 dolls per month is a dolly dose for me. No wonder I had to buy older dolls to fill in the desire for these dolls, IT should increase NuFace offers. We had even less FR offers last year, and that will be further reflected in this year. Currently, we have only one FR doll on preorder (Graceful ReignVanessa). But, having in mind COVID epidemic, I would say things are not that bad.

A surprise for me on this collage is Poppy. As you probably know I do not collect Poppys, but as you see, she had a good share in dolls I acquired last year. Reason for that is the fact that Poppy looks much more mature and less cute recent years. I planned to add a few other Poppys, but you know too many dolls already. Another Poppy will soon join my collection, Silver Soiree, she is just a dream!!!

I will not make a list of favorite dolls, I will just choose highlights of the year.

Intimate Soiree Agnes - easily favorite FR doll I acquired last year, but if I consider last years offers, Legendary Status was the winner.

Undercover Angel Poppy - she is a standout on all of my photos, such a breathtaking doll and a favorite Poppy!

Fashionable Legacy Violaine - such an outstanding beauty, she is my second favorite NuFace doll in my collection (after Public Adoration Eden).

Still, biggest surprise of the year came from Meteor collection - Enigmatic Reinvention Navia is an outstanding doll, a grail in my terms. Her outfit is brilliant, her expression and makeup color palette is exquisite. I placed her next to Intimate Soirree just to show you that she holds her ground next to grails.

Overall, I think I enjoyed the ride, quite a few dolls I acquired last year will be kept forever. Still, I wish I could control my hoarding instinct during the dolly droughts, usually that is when I make mistakes... I have deinstalled Ebay app from my phone, so that might help :)

Preordering for the Mountain Fortress and other projects from Bricklink Designer Program Series 1 starting Ferbuary 7, 2024!

www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-1/482/Mounta...

I have been anxiously waiting for this one. IT dolls have been stressful for a while, because flawless dolls from them are rare. And Nadja being a favorite, I was really worried. Thankfully, this girl has no issues at first glance.

The gift set is nicely put together. The doll is a stunner, a traffic stopper. Even after all the Nadjas I have, this one makes me smile. I'm super duper happy that I preordered this one.

My Swans from Jamieshow have arrived. They are stunning! Having her in hand, I'm glad I caved and preordered Grace. I was on the fence about her afraid she would be too close to MOJ Grace. I love her though!

Press "L" and take a deep, icy breath.

For a dude that has such a big nose, I figure his knees must be somewhere down around here.

I took a few minutes to get away from the full frontal shots of El Cap to take some detail shots. This is a really simple composition but this may be one of my overall favorites from that weekend. I'm thinking I might print it 24x36" on canvas to hang in my office.

On another note, the D7000 that I preordered in October has finally arrived. (Almost precisely a week too late for the Yosemite trip, but I think that trip was a fitting swan song for my beat D200)

LE 375-380

Preordered 10/24/2016

Arrived 2/27/2017

The new finish obviously reflects light differently...resulting in more of a matte finish - very nice. Photos don't do her justice....most likely due to her fair coloring. In person, she's luminous and delicate...and YES, she's a keeper. She comes in a slender Jason Wu box with a plain white paper folded over the inner liner. Nothing flashy.

Oddly, there was no COA enclosed with this Elyse.

Her doll stand has a plain/black/square base with standard telescoping saddle stand. She also comes with an extra pair of hands, 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of simple stud earrings.

Her skin feels velvety-smooth and the skin-tone appears to be Porcelain tone. I'll do some Comparison Pix with my other 2 Porcelain FR dolls.

I love this girl. She finally returns!

I did not preorder too many this year, but she is definitely among those I preordered.

Part Deux

Confirmed!

Ah, whenever IT does a product/doll unveiling it brings anxiety and excitement. This year was definitely a surprise! I wish I could get them all but this year I plan on splurging more on convention and then of course the NuFace dolls will be out later so I need to take that into consideration.

I love the direction of FR this year: Urban Safari. I love the colors and the textures and styles on each of the girls. They look glam and ready for an editorial shoot in the jungles or desert or whatevs. I told myself that I was going to get just a couple must-haves. Unfortunately, I preordered them all...

Event Agnes- I figured it was going to be Agnes again this year for the event doll. She's fabulous. And just like in the Style Directive, she also comes with a mix and match look.

Elise- she's a holy grail all the time. And that curry/mango color is fab.

Adele- I was a bit disappointed that she had a similar look to her convention doll a few months back (with the updo and pink lip) but Adele's dress is FIERCE.

Natalia- she and Kyori look the most "safari" tho I wish she rocked another hair style. Damn you Natalia and your center parts! LOL

Kyori- I looove! She has the long pony similar to "Love the One..." but it's ok. Her screening is fab and that outfit is ferosh.

Vero- she's actually my fave! Much more subtle than the other girls but perfect business glam.

Eugenia- yay blonde Eugie! And she's rocking the aminal print so DONE!

The Poppy collection was absolutely adorbs! I wish I could get every single doll! I can imagine the photostories and action shots, LOL. But I told myself at convention that I must have the catsuit Poppy and so I decided to get Lotta Danger. If her other teammates are available I might get tempted. The prices this year went up so it definitely was a factor in deciding.

Jem was awesome, too! I love Clash but decided to pass as I think I'm ok with my complete set of Holograms and Misfits (I still need to debox the last two). Ah just so much cute! Hope all of you got what you wanted! They're all so glam.

Today, I got the last of my MTM Yoga Dolls that I preordered on Amazon way back in February and March! Here is the New Hispanic Yoga MTM doll! Here skintone is a very, very close match for the most recent release of Blue Top. Enjoy!

Really glad to see these on Amazon a couple of days ago. I love all the new face sculpts, skin and eye colors and not to mention the new body types.

Here's hoping for Dad Bod Ken and more skin variations and hairstyles lol.

Can't wait to receive the new Fashionistas which I just preordered from Mattel, sadly it said it was in stock and will leave the wearhouse in 1-2 business days, however I received an email stating it will not be arriving until June :(

I have been waiting for the release of these particular Curvy Latina and Brown Eyed Blonde fashionistas. My Grace redhead is gorgeous, although I wished her outfit was a bit more rocker chic. Surprisingly I really thought this Ken was Ryan, although I do like this Ken's sculpt and tan.

What do you guys think about the new fashionistas.

What are the odds? I preordered one and paid right away. The second one is a take-over and paid mid last week. Numbers 228 and 230...

2016 was terrific in terms of dolly playing time for me. I quit my job and I had plenty of time to play, photograph, start doing reroots, etc...

That time is over now as I started my own business recently, sadly you won't see me so often here but I'll try to upload 1 picture per week at least.

Most Interesting: Starlet Elyse Jolie reroot wearing [k] for Xclusively R&D

Most views: Poppy Parker in a Barbie MTM body wearing Squish Tish and Clear Lan

Most favs: Vanessa Perrin wearing (again) Squish Tish and Clear Lan

Most comments: My drama post about not getting the doll I preordered from the worst IT dealer EVER: ETA Dolls. Even her store name is ugly! LOL

Personal Favorite: Paper Doll Poppy Parker wearing VJhon.

THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE!

I am Sooo glad I preordered her.. I know some people are talking about not liking her release pictures but Im not one of them! I liked her Right from her Cartoon and I LOVE Her In box!

To me this is the best release they have had in awhile, Look at all that Awesome stuff lol WOOT! Cant WAIT to get her!

And Hobbysearch should be sending her out Tomorrow <3 YAY!

Final, fourth W Club doll was announced, it's FR, and I have preordered her!!!

Pros:

- Redhead Vero;

- Center parted (my favorite style) and nice wavy hair;

- Almost no black;

- Love grey outfits, I love the ones I have, they look great IRL;

- Very nice jewelry, new molds

- Lower painted eyelashes and

- Blue eyes and soft pink lips is one of my fav combos.

Cons:

- Almost no black: that belt could have been turquoise or pale orange. And lingerie would look better in white;

- Part of her hair has been tied on the back, which makes her forehead bigger, I will change that when she arrives. Though I really like how IT tries new things and

- No hat or fascinator, I think they would make her look more elegant and complete.

*Photos are not mine, they belong to IT*

Yes! Im so excited for them to get here!!!!!!!!!!! **not my pic**

Not at all the sort of Poppy I normally go for, but I liked the cut of the dress and the jewelry. So I preordered think to sell the nude doll. But there’s something about her that’s speaking to me.

So, here we are, the international competition winner design has been translated into a special doll that every club member can preorder. Congratulations to Vasilen, his design got the most votes!

I have to be honest and admit that I didn't vote for this design, though it did caught my eye instantly. She is so fierce!

I will share my thoughts from the point of whether I am going to preorder or not, and not regarding the quality of the design. I have so many dolls so I try to be practical.

Pros: I love blonde Elyses, and if we disregard recent anniversary Elyses, she rarely appear as a blonde. The accessories here are so good. I love the addition of snake bracelet, love the earrings and belt (too bad it is not a separate piece). The jacket reminds me on the one from Montaigne Elyse. So many beautiful details. I love cream clothes and do not have it enough, so turtle neck blouse would be used here a lot.

Cons: The boots.. Those platform soles are so tacky + they are bright red. Combined with "leather" pants, it is just too much, at least for the taste of my dolls :) Pants remind me on the ones from Beast NuFantasy, I have them, never use them. Now, the makeup. I personally do not have a problem with dolls with bright makeup, but for some reason red or reddish eyeshadow never looks good in person. Also, those dolls are never quite popular, remember Vero from Jet Set convention? Very similar makeup. Red lips, pale eyebrows. It looks good on photos, but in person, not sure.

Also, if you take a closer look, she has eyeliner with two wings, I kind of prefer dolls with one, but hey I am picky ;)

Anyway, HUGE congrats to Vasilen, what a joy of having a doll that you designed!

So, are you going to preorder, what do you think?

PS: Important! This doll can be preordered even if you are not a club member, just visit Integrity Toys site.

Who can say that I don’t cover current issues. Perhaps it’s just coincidently timed. By what ever means it just so happens that I post a picture from Apple on 5th Avenue on the day when you can start preordering the iPhone 6. I currently will be working out what one I will get. Mainly for the camera ability. The iPhone 6 plus has the killer feature of the Optical Image Stablisation. Basically no more shaky camera phone photos for me so that’s where I may be heading. There goes a ton of money.

Alright, I've calmed down. Well, not really, but I've calmed enough to give you guys my thoughts on what Nintendo brought to the table at this year's E3! I'm just going to break down my favorite things from the direct and some of the most interesting this from the Smash section, so let's get to it!

Super Mario Party -

I've never purchased a Mario Party game, but I am 100% going to buy this beauty! THEY GOT RID OF THE CAR!!! Oh my god it actually looks like a Mario Party game, that was enough to sell me! Not to mention all the new characters and the ways to use the Switch physically which were amazing!

Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Evee! -

Nothing really mind blowing from this part, but it just further showed us what to expect from the game. I am so glad it's a remake of the Kanto games, I've been dying to go back there in a HD setting! Still a little worried about leveling up Pokemon, but I think there'll be a good replacement to battling wild Pokemon for grinding. Cool to see that Mew comes with that Pokeball Plus, I'll try to pick that up!

Super Smash Bros: Ultimate -

Alright I'm just going to break down some of the biggest and most hype things I found in this presentation.

EVERY CHARACTER RETURNS:

That's right literally every character from all the past Smash Bros games return and it's INCREDIBLE. Ice Climbers, Snake, Wolf, Pichu, they're all back!!!! I can't wait to play as cut characters from Melee and Brawl and see how they've been updated!

Character Updates:

I'm so glad to see some long needed updates. I love that they changed the looks to most of the Zelda characters too, THEY GAVE GANONDORF A SWORD!

The Small Starting Roster:

Okay this may be my favorite thing about all this Smash Bros news. I absolutely LOVE that you only start out with the Smash 64 roster, It'll be a lot of fun to unlock a shitload of characters, it'll definitely get me more addicted to playing the game than I was any other Smash game. I'm also wondering if since there'll be a lot of character to unlock... maybe a Subspace-like story mode will be in the game? We haven't heard about any of the modes in this game at all, so I wouldn't be surprised if something like that was in the game!

Echo Characters:

Now I don't know how Echo characters are going to act in terms of their placement in the character select screen, but I'm glad they're finally acknowledging them as clones. They also announced Daisy as an Echo character, so I can't wait to beat her up in game, fuck Daisy. I would be mad that she's in the game but since literally EVERYONE is back, I don't care who is added now!

Newcomers:

Alright so we knew about Inkling coming, so seeing their gameplay was amazing, they look like a ton of fun. But we also got RIDLEY finally joining Smash! I'm so glad he's finally in the game, I knew that he wasn't too big to be a fighter! Sakurai said that there won't be too many new characters, so I'm guessing we'll maybe get three or four more, which I'm fine with. I can't wait to see who they are!

Release Date:

Alright, so it's coming out December 7th... wait a minute, THIS December 7th?!?! Holy Fuck. Once I get some cash, I'm preordering right away!!!

Anyways, those were the biggest points of the Nintendo Direct for me. Let me know what moments hyped you the most from the Direct in the comments below!

The complete set of all dolls in the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection, Heroes and Villains series. They placed side by side in their display cases, with the slipcovers off. They are in the order in which they were placed in the shipping carton. They are in front of my KidKraft Snowflake Mansion, with the Disney Parks Snow Queen Elsa small figurine doing her presentation gesture at the top of the staircase.

My pre-ordered full set of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Heroes and Villains dolls arrived after a delay on November 6, 2015. I had ordered them at the D23 Expo on August 14, 2015. They are all edition number of 65 of 6000. They came in perfect condition, and I think most if not all the dolls are better than the ones I bought separately (which I have deboxed or will debox). By the way, I got 5 gift bags in this shipment, and got another 5 in a separate shipment. So like most people who pre-ordered the full collection, I am getting twice as many bags as I should have.

Here are my first photos of the set, taken with flash. They were taken in front of my KidKraft Snowflake Mansion. I will later take photos of my deboxed Designer dolls next to these dolls, which I will leave boxed. But before I do that I will have to debox the Rapunzel and Mother Gothel set and the Snow Queen Elsa and Hans set.

This is one of the dolls I preordered before she was revealed. I usually do not do that, but I had a feeling regarding her name (I know I am crazy), and I was not disappointed!

This year, I have that feeling regarding Sea Witch Vero. As I decided not to preorder any new doll, I did not preorder her. But, I am very excited to see if my instinct is still working :)))

Do you preorder dolls without actually seeing them?

Better photo. And I know you can't see the gun for the sniper. Sorry, but he'll be in a moc soon. And my brother preordered COD Ghosts for me! :D

Wakanda. That's all I have to say.

The four doll sets, with slipcovers off and placed on top of the display cases. They are in order of their release dates.

Photos of my preordered Designer Fairytale doll sets, that I received today. They came in a large square box weighing 20 pounds, with the individual doll sets in their own boxes. The four gift bags were in the same shipping box, tightly squeezed in the side. The carton number is 408, but the actual edition number for all four sets is 410 of 6000. All the dolls are in excellent condition, but there are small imperfections in a couple of the nameplates. These dolls I will leave untouched in mint condition, as I will debox the ones I've gotten from the store raffles.

Moment of Fantasy Empires of the Sea Poseidon

My first Adonis doll. I ordered and received another one since I preordered this one, but I haven't opened that one yet. He is larger than I expected with a more elaborate hairstyle, and his trident feels like actual metal, it's got weight to it.

Lord help me! Lol!

I preordered Ayumi and Dania!

Hopefully I don’t lose it and preorder more of the collections!

(I’m still waffling about the Ginger/Poppy Set, I may just order it because I like Ginger a lot, and now I want to see Ginger in Ayumi’s double denim outfit. I also haven’t entered any of the boudoir lotteries yet! We will see what I do, I haven’t decided!)

In all the preordering frenzy, lets not forget the girls we have...

I was smitten by this Petworks girl at first look. But somehow passed on the ordering. But could not ignore when they did a second session of preorders because of continuing requests from fans.

The weird thing is - she wont be home until Dec-Jan. That will be a long wait time :))

This review will have all the spoilers. You've been warned.

It was either late 2013 or early 2014. Good times. I was messing around on Youtube one day looking at videos of the latest Batman game. Then in the recommended videos I saw something that both confused and intrigued me. The thumbnail was the iconic image of Niel Armstrong saluting the American flag he just planted on the moon. Except there were a couple differences. Twisted, terrifying differences. The American flag was replaced with the banner of Nazi Germany. And Niel was Seig Heil'ing to it. I'm pretty sure I let out an audible "what the fuck?" apon seeing this. This was the E3 trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order. For those who don't know, Wolfenstein is one of the oldest franchises in gaming, and put FPS games on the map. A goofy game about shooting Nazis in WWII that gave 90s gamers the chance to shoot the hell out of Mecha-Hitler. Think of it as a prototype to the more infamous Doom series that would launch shorty after. The New Order was a modern-day reboot with some ambitious questions. The biggest one being "what if they won instead?" The New Order takes you to an alternate 1960 where the Nazis beat the allied forces to the nuke (among other advanced tech) and thus took over the world. It was grim. It was campy. It was subtle. It was loud. It was dumb. And it was also much smarter and more engaging than anyone would've thought. So it went on to be a smash hit in 2014, and one of my favorite games ever. A few months ago to the day this is being posted, Bethesda stopped by E3 and showed the world it was sequel time, showing off Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus (Actually like the 3rd or 5th in the series) to the world. The next day I preordered the hell out of it. Was it worth it? Well after 10 days of tearing through it, lemme tell you.

So I'll start off with things I didn't like, get the negativity out of the way. It's not a big list but I think what on it is valid. In The New Order, which I shall now abbreviate as TNO, in nearly all sections you could either go in fast and loud, putting holes in everything that moves with dual automatic shotguns and a big laser cannon. Or you could be a bit more stealthy about things, sneaking through vents and corridors putting knives in throats and taking care of problematic enemies from afar with a suppressed pistol (which might I mention was one of the things I loved about the TNO; keeping the pistol relevant and not just a forgettable starter weapon like most shooters). It was all about personal play style, but both options were viable. In The New Colossus, which I shall now abbreviate as TNC, going in loud was the way I always went because it seemed more viable. And I always went stealth in TNO. I probably just need to learn the areas, but there was some problems I ran into. Like this game being dark. Not story wise (even though it is) but literally. I remember alot of areas meant to be stealth-able lacking in the lighting department, and I set my brightness at the recommended settings, too. Anytime I'd get caught it'd be from and enemy that I couldn't see. And that leads to another problem. In TNO, enemies stuck out in the maps. Even if they were dully-colored humaniods coming in plentiful shades of gray you'd still spot them from across the area. It was probably due to both TNO being brighter and the enemies having a wide design variety. Not so much in the TNC. There's less design variety here and they all seem to just blend into the background alot. Even the brightly-colored HAZMAT and Venus space troopers don't pop in anything less than Glamour Magazine photo booth. On top of that those two previously mentioned troopers, while being obvious separate models apon inspection, honestly just look like classic Mortal Kombat-esque palette swaps. Again, TNO had alot of variety in their designs. Which is why it was a shame there was no proper model viewer in TNO, and why it's straight-up bullshit their isn't one in TNC. One of my favorite bits of last year's DOOM (another Id games classic updated for the modern world) was a model viewer that let you get an up-close look at the game's monsters and weapons. The Batman: Arkham games have had it for years. Hell, I remember having them back in 2005 with Jak III. Why can't Wolfenstein, with their toybox of greatly-designed characters, weapons and assets have it? Or a photo mode, too? I'm not insane about graphics in games, but I still appreciate them with how incredible they are today, and TNC is no exception. It's a beautiful game. Let me appreciate it to the fullest extent possible. Honestly these days model viewers and photo modes are something all games should have with how far graphics have gone. If only bosses got the same advancement. TNO had a few that aren't Psycho Mantis or Big Baby Bowser levels, but they were fun nonetheless. DOOM's bosses were one of the highlights for me. TNC has none of those. Here and then there's an enemy that can act as a sort-of miniboss, but their's nothing big and climactic like TNO's showdown with the towering London Monitor, or the final showdown with the main antagonist, General Deathshead. The "final boss" of TNC is more of a gauntlet than anything. 3 pairs of Supersoldiers, a higher-powered but still common enemy assisted by a shitload of standard infantry, finished off by 2 "Zerstörers", which are basically super versions of the Supersoldiers (I call them "Super-duper Soliders"). The main antagonist of the game, General Engel, goes down with one melee attack, only vainly defending herself with a pistol. An outdated pistol by both the game's and IRL standards. In a game where mechs, actual Avengers Helicarriers and boimechanically-enhanced mutants are possible, you'd expect so much more. Especially with Hitler himself making an appearance. I was really looking forward to a modern-day Mecha-Hitler. Not sure if I'd want bosses to worry about though since something as simple as getting your weapons out can be a pain. In TNO you could dual wield nearly every weapon in the game, but you could only dual wield two of the same gun. In TNC dual wield returns, for every weapon you can carry, and you can interchange between them. And while it has it's uses for sure, it feels kinda clunky, not to mention slow. TNC takes it's sweet time letting you change your weapons which can be fatal, especially since this game carries over a problem TNO had in that you're not exactly warned when your current ammo's about to run dry and you're gonna get lit up while changing a clip.

Now to the good, which I assure you outweighs the bad. Lemme start by saying that the gunplay feels as fantastic as before. Every gun has kick and you feel it whenever you see a Nazi get turned to mush by your triple-barreled automatic rotary shotgun. Yes, that's a thing in this game. As is a pistol-sized grenade launcher. And sticky-bomb launcher. And an OP-as hell laser cannon that atomizes people and metal covers/doors alike. And all of these can be powered-up through upgrades. The Shotgun can be upgraded to have ricochet rounds to deal even more damage. The pistol can have a suppressor so it stays useful like it did in TNO. The Assault Rifle can have both a scope and armor piercing rounds making it able to down mechanical enemies in one shot. And the laser cannon. Oh god the Laser cannon. Called the LaserkraftWerk in the game, it's by far the best weapon you'll get, even before upgrades. One shot will destroy even more armored infantry, but when you upgrade it so the blast can be charged, ooooooohhh. One charged blast will down Super soldiers with ease, and even on higher difficulties the powerful Zerstörer units I mentioned earlier will fall with a few good shots. Combo this with an extended battery doubling your already-decent ammo pool, And you're unstoppable. I guess that leads to another issue. While every gun has their uses and you'll likely use every one at one point, like DOOM before it you'll probably cruise along primary'ing 2 guns. For me it was the Shotgun and Laserkraftwerk. But even then they weren't the weapons I used the most. It was the heavy weapons. In TNO there was a Heavy MG you'd find here and there. It was powerful, sure, but could only be picked up and not carried in your inventory, and slowed you down considerably. You couldn't sprint and crouching reduced you to a snail's pace, and interacting with anything would make you drop it. In TNC there's 4 types of heavy weapons and they're awesome. They still slow you down but nowhere near the TNO's. You CAN interact with stuff and you can even sprint with them. Doesn't sound like much but believe me, that makes a world of difference. Another thing that gives you an edge in combat is the contraptions. There's 3 in total; The Ram Shackles, which allow you to bash through both weak walls and enemies alike, the Constrictor Harness, which allows you to sneak around in tight spaces, and the Battle Walker, my favorite, which is just some goddamn stilts. They let you get to higher places so its not anywhere as useless as it sounds, but also has perks, like the other contraptions. You'll be able to tank explosions without falling over, make enemies freeze n terror at the sight of you, and even keep your overcharged health from going down, my favorite. Speaking of health, one thing that makes the newer Wolfenstein and Doom games is the lack of regenerating health. You have to find health and armor in the levels, and this returns in TNC. One addition though is instead of having to pick up stuff manually, walking over health and armor pieces will make you pick it up automatically, though manually picking them up like before is still an option. It admitting needs refinement but it works well enough. It's nice after a firefight were I took a beating, I remember where a health pack or some armor was, I run to that location, and I already have some extra heath/armor on me when I get there from the bits that was lying around. While I did say that their isn't much variety in the enemie's designs, the designs that are there are good, and carry over that retrofuturistic asthetic I loved so much about TNO. My favorites are either the Ubersoldat, with is basically a Nazi T-800, or the previously-mentioned Zerstörer. Enemy behavior is much better in this game too. In TNO during a stealth section if an enemy ran into a dead body, they'd just move along like something happened. In TNC, enemies are much more sharp. Anything louder and light sniffle they're hear and investigate, and if they find a dead body they go into high alert and start hunting for you. The levels are incredible too, truly feeling and looking like a 1960s America under Nazi control. The level layouts in this game are kinda funny. In TNO a new level was an entirely new location. In TNC, multiple levels are across one location. This is due to the levels being so much more vast than TNO if anything. My favorite level is either the Nazi base on Venus (the actual planet), or Manhattan, which was directly hit by a Nazi nuke in WWII and is now a desolate, irradiated wasteland. You could feel how thick and cancerous the air is, and the devastated buildings have their upper skeletons eerily bent and curled from the blast. Fallout fans will have a bit of deja vu going through it. All these locales help guide the story along, which like TNO before it is a standout part of the game. TNC takes place right after TNO more or less, after the main character, BJ Blazcowiz, is mortally injured in his big battle with General Deathshead. You're saved by your resistance buddies before they nuke the place, but you're still messed up. After 5 months in a coma, the game finally starts. With you shooting Nazis on a U-boat you captured previously in a wheelchair. For half the game the only reason you're able fight again is thanks to a power suit wired to BJ's brain. Even while you're fighting BJ's injuries are taking their toll. By his own estimate, he has weeks. Which is tragic to think about since in TNO, he met Anya Oliwa, a nurse who took care of him during a prior comatose, and eventual lover. By the time TNC rolls around, she's heavily pregnant with BJ's twins. Not being their for his kids is something BJ laments a few times, and you feel for him. Especially when you learn about his awful childhood at the beginning of the game. He deserves a good family, and it sucks he'll never get that. And for a bit it really seemed like that he wouldn't since midway through the game, BJ's betrayed by his abusive, racist, Nazi-loving father who make his childhood such a shitshow, and is captured by Nazi forces. After a few weeks of parading "Terror Billy" The most horrible terrorist the world has ever seen according to the Nazi propaganda machine, BJ is executed in front of the Nazified Lincoln memorial to an audience of millions. Beheaded, it really seems like the game took a grim turn. Luckily due to the quick work of his aforementioned buddies in the resistance and some advanced tech, BJ is saved, if head slapped onto a new super soldier body. This brings up something that some reviewers had an issue with. TNC goes through a tone shift in story midway through the game. It starts out very grim and foreboding. Your base was attacked, the leader of the resistance is murdered right in front of you, America seems like it's perfectly fine living under the Nazi's boot, BJ is crippled and basically expecting death, and his unborn kids seem like they won't have a dad. Even in gameplay things feel grim at first. Even with the power suit giving double armor you can't escaped the halved health. You really feel like you're playing a crippled character. BJ himself puts it out there pretty good. "I take it off, I'm afraid I'll fall apart and all the pieces won't fit back together again." Then he loses that body and gains one that can actually move on it's own power and then some. BJ is basically reborn. stronger than ever. It makes sense that the game would kick up to a more upbeat tone. You're a new man, more powerful than ever before. This can be done. You can save the world. This upbeat attitude peaks at the birthday party scene. Just before the final assault, it turns out it's BJs birthday, so what do you and your resistance buddies do? Party like theirs no tomorrow, because for all they know there might not be. If their's one thing I like in a story it's reminding me that the character I'm playing and the characters around them are people, and not by just showing me their trauma and flaws. Every character in Wolfenstein already has those in spades. I'm more for seeing them having fun. Being happy. Enjoying eachother's company. Take me out of the misery for once and remind me that their's something good in the world. Not to say seeing smiles on their faces is what made them good characters. Every major character is pretty good in this game. Grace Walker, The new resistance leader and black revolutionary front member is pretty much a female Samuel L. Jackson. General Engel, The game's antagonist, is the perfect villain in that you want nothing more but to see her get what's coming to her. Super Spesh, Grace's husband and crackpot alien conspiracy theorist, gives some good comic relief for the time he's around. And Anya. Fucking Anya. Loyal, smart, and considering the crazy shit she does while carrying twins in her, may be more badass than BJ himself. And even with the grim beginnings don't think this game takes itself too seriously. In one level, right after BJ monologues to himself about his imminent mortality, he (and us) get a first glimpse at the Nazi's rocket-powered train system. Something he immediately responds to with basically "what the fuck?". After nuking the Nazi high command in fucking Roswell, BJ escapes on what's pretty much the monocycle from Men In Black. Before BJ's head is slapped onto his new body, it's dropped in a jar like Futurama. That Venus level I mentioned earlier? You get there on a Nazi flying saucer. And again, stilts. One of your upgrades is big, stompy stilts.

Overall out of all the recent iD software games to hit the scene lately, I'd say DOOM is my favorite. But I'll give it to The New Colossus. With a few bumps here and their it's just as fun to play as it's predecessor, and improves in most areas. Overall, yes, it's a step up from The New Order, and if you want a fun, absurd shooter with a good story to tell, look no further,

The crowned sparrows are preparing to leave for the summer, sigh. This one posed for me so I could photograph it with the new, amazing Nikon 500mm f5.6PF lens, for which I waited a long time after preordering.

Yet another import from Europe, I got one of my mains!

(Or at least a character I play very often)

Bowser Jr. here has a whole lot of detail put into him. He's also a lot bigger than expected so I'll have to make some adjustments to my current amiibo setup. Also, just like his papa, his head was re-colored a bit so it matches his artwork more and isn't as dull.

Bowser Jr. aside and since we're on an amiibo related pic. I preordered the Retro-Pack from GameStop the other day using a gift card I found in my wallet. It had like $50 on it and it was just sitting in my wallet all like 'use meh' and I was like 'OK'. I think it's like 2 years old or something from a couple Christmas' ago...

So that's that.

I have been shooting dual systems for the last two years. Fuji and Olympus. I have really enjoyed Olympus for macro and for a while with telephoto but decided after my last trip to go all Fuji.

The only native 1:1 macro for Fuji with autofocus is the Zeiss Touit 50mm but I have never been willing to spend the money for it. Well that lens was really the only thing keeping me from going all Fuji so I just sold my x-t1 and all my Olympus gear (except for the fine 60mm macro which I will hold on to just in case) to fund the purchase of off the zeiss and a preordered XT2.

I ordered the zeiss at a good price from the UK and it arrived yesterday just as I was packaging the last off my Olympus stuff for shipment to its new owner. I think this lens will fight for time with my xf16mm on my xpro2. And once I get the XT2 it will pretty much always have the 100-400 mounted and ready. I may look at the xf23F2WR when it comes out but for now I think I am set with just three lenses for most of what I do.

Hopefully I will get some time to try it out tonight.
