Jae Lee's Superman and Wonder Woman

First off sorry to have flooded your Flickr Feed with so many pictures. I cannot believe the amount of detail that went into these particular figures. They are based on the Art by the incomparable Jae Lee, and sculpted beautifully by Jonathan Matthews (who also I believe sculpted the Greg Capullo Designer Series as well). I have never had figures from DC Collectibles that got me so excited since the announcement of Batman The Animated Series.

These figures go so well with the other New 52 especially the other Designer Series by Greg Capullo.

I preordered these on Amazon but when I saw them in person I just knew I had to get them right then and there.

I've been waiting for a gorgeous Byul to be released!!!

I won't lie - I was ecstatic that HK acting legend, Tony Leung, was in Shang Chi, along with other legends like Michelle Yeoh and Yuen Wah. Because quite frankly, Simu Liu and Awkwafina just don't do it for me.. hell I'd take Ronny Chieng over those two.

Fortunately for me, being the main villain meant Tony Leung was destined to get a Hot Toy, which I eagerly preordered. Two years later it finally arrived into my little group here. For lack of better terms, I'd call this Wenwu's modern garb, as he wore that business suit in Shang Chi's youth, and of course, there was the true Mandarin look.

Unlike Wonder Woman, Wenwu used a great variety of props and special effects in the film. You get forearms with the 10 rings on it, you get the 10 rings loose, you get ring blast effects, slide effects, and of course the one effect when they're playing tug of war with the rings.

The head looks fantastic from the side, but face on.. well, it's really about head tilt and lighting. I mean, ultimately it's OK and better than average, but to me it's more like some random older Chinese dude - though covering up the eyes with sunglasses does help.

Actually, covering the eyes of all the Hot Toys generally helps.

Featuring an outfit that is predominately cloth, and not skin tight, this means that Wenwu can actually pose. Don't go expecting Phicen levels of articulation of course, but there have ben so many figures that have had restricting outfits, it's very rare that you're able to use all of the tools provided to you. It's almost like Hot Toys went and completely redid their body, when it fact it was always there.

Poses where the arm goes overhead are pretty touch to accomplish, as well as anything with really deep leg movement.

Sculpting work on the outfit and accessories is quite good, traits which have always been Hot Toys strengths. The little engravings on the 10 rings are quite nicely done. The raised tendons on the forearms... very nicely done.

Paint work is astonishing as always. The face and forearms perfectly match, and the smaller details, as always, are quite good. I mean, just check out the paint on the 10 Rings... absolutely gorgeous, despite being so tiny.

Build quality wise, there's a few things that are leaning towards the sketchy side. Swapping out the forearms is a test of your courage - more specifically swapping out the forearms with the rings on it because there's really no good place to grab on to. Then there's the tug of war effect - the rings on there are actually just glued on and, as I learned, aren't exactly the most secure, which is kind of a problem when you're basically prying open the one fist that isn't really meant for holding a round object and effectively forcing the hand to do its job.

Do I think this figure is going to be the next Hela or other obscure but highly desirable piece? I seriously doubt it, and fully expect the value to tank, just like pretty much every Hot Toy out there. But that doesn't matter - the universe has finally allowed an opportunity for an aging HK actor to get an action figure, an actor from an era of film and television that apparently, Simu Liu completely missed, despite growing up in China.

The figure could suck and I'd still get it.

Surprisingly, Australia got some of the Harry Potter dolls! I’m kinda annoyed Ginny and Minerva weren’t here but I’m mainly here for the trio cuz HOLY SHIT the Harry Potter dolls were GRAIL dolls of mine as a child who binged on the series. Sadly the first run of the dolls in 2001-2003 never made it to my area as a kid and I was so embittered and sad.

Ofc these aren’t the same amount of detail, but highly articulated figures with decent likenesses???? I was so incredibly happy.

I’m a bit annoyed I preordered the dolls on Walmart but the refund process is taking up to a month to get while I grabbed these at Big W but whatever, I finally got the dolls 9 year old me had always wanted, especially Ron! Ahhh.

I have waited so long to get a hold of the Fuji X100; finally, I got a call from Hunt's Photo in Boston letting me know they had (2) in stock. I preordered one (no deposits) back in December!

My first impression/experience of this camera is very positive—I am very happy with it. What is most impressive about this camera is its ability to expose images at almost any situation. The exposure seems well balanced while keeping great colors and skin tones even at and above ISO 3200.

I read images at f/2 are soft. IMHO, I think the f/2 images are quite sharp and the bokeh is superb. For the first few days of shooting, I only shot with the f/2 setting. Even under the bright sunlight, I turn the "ND filter" to ON and was able to shoot at f/2 without having to put a real filter on. I do plan to get a hood and a few filters, though. Accessories for the X100 are just too hard to get a hold of these days and I am not willing to pay way above the retail for them.

The ergonomics are good, but could be better. It's a tad slippery to hold and there is barely a grip—thought the grip is better than the Leica X1 but not as grippy as the Ricoh GXR or GRDIII. I am using a wrist strap with it. The camera feels very solid, more so than the X1 but feels less solid than Leica M6. I would be afraid to drop it while I wouldn't worry so much dropping an M6.

The OVF is great to have but needs some improvements particularly in its ability to focus correctly at f/2 and f/2.8. I would recommend using the EVF shooting at such large apertures. It was a hit or miss affair getting the right focus when using OVF with f/2 and f/2.8. Focus speed is fast enough though as expected, not as fast as a DSLR; if I remember correctly, I think the SONY NEX 5 was a little quicker at focusing—but I could be wrong as I no longer have the NEX 5 to compare it to.

Battery life is great, I have shot around 300 pics and it still shows full battery.

I LOVE the panoramic mode; the ability to change the direction of panning gives me the option to get more vertical estate.

I am very happy with the image quality; there is absolutely nothing to complain about (so far).

In the next few weeks, I will most likely post a few more pics and jot down my thoughts a long with the photos. But, to sum it up, the X100 has been a pleasure to use.

By this time, i saw what i must do to get the colour balance right on the skin SOOC. Ironically, it is turn the blues up DRAMATICALLY in camera! Before, i did a custom white balance on the white walls, and the images were awful. I wonder why that is...

I preordered this Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece action figure of Marlon Brando as don Vito Corleone from the Godfather ages ago, but it didn't arrive until now. However, good things come for those who wait and this figure has really lived up to the expectations.

My boy Val has needed a new face up for years and today I finally got around to giving him one. I also gave him applied eyelashes for the first time in 3.5 years of owning him.

I rarely photograph him even though he represents my dearest character to me who I've had floating in my head since I was 14.

Soon he'll be getting a new body, hopefully it's done soon. I preordered it months ago, and have only 2 payments left on it out of 6. I did a 5 month layaway on his body and the body for his boyfriend. That'll be a fun box opening.

I've done the May shoot today, and am rather pleased with it.

You don't get to see what it looks like, but you DO get to see the outtake, wherein Jack crashes the shoot, trying to blend in ^_^

April shot does not have any regional meaning, just pretty girls in pinkish clothes with fans and umbrellas. There is a yukata (Japan), qipao (China), and ao dai (Vietnam). Fans are hand-made (GAWD, talk about fiddly things!) and umbrellas are those party cocktail ones.

I have reached the pre-order stage for calendars!

The calendars will be $17 + shipping (no handling charges). Most likely they will be avialable sometime in the middle of November, and I will ship them to those who preordered.

So I almost got a shock when I opened box that mailman brought as I totally didn't expect this girl yet, there was no talk about her being out soon, no pics on flickr or ebay auctions... She was preordered in early December and my preorder was with Tom who closed his store in March. Azone took over my order and here she is, I'm soooo happy!!!!!

As you can hopefully see her mouth is more open and she is more pouty, soooo adorable!!!!!!

Released today, limited edition Mario 25th anniversary red Wii!

I preordered it and picked it up this afternoon. Justin and I gave been playing around with it and I love it!

One of the most memorable Sega Arcade Classics is Golden Axe. My time was mostly spent with the Master System version, so it blew my mind to find out that there were actually three characters to choose from, as opposed to just Ax Battler.

Storm Collectibles "recently" started their lineup from this beautiful game. Bored out of my mind due to lockdown, I preordered one directly from Storm in HK, as our local "dealer" in Toronto is not really reliable.

The figure itself follows the tried and true Storm design, featuring a base figure that has all the major bases covered, with a soft rubber upper torso, which normally would have allowed for neck motion without visible joints.... but they seem to have gotten rid of that a while ago.

Not that there was a non Deluxe version, but I suppose for the $128 its a decent value. You get 8 additional hands, her sword, and her noble steed the Blue Dragon. It's a shame that you don't get any little elves to beat up for meat and magic potions.

The Blue Dragon itself is nice and hefty, and also has a decent amount of articulation. Flame effect is meant for use with it... unless you're bored like me.

Which one will have the better bangs?? (I ended up opening the one on the left)

So, I preordered 2! I wasn't sure my order would go through or be cancelled and then I thought I might keep one and then adopt out the other one, either in the box or separated from her cute stock.

I think she's cute, although a bit orange-y. I think she will look even cuter customized with different lips and eyeshadow. Her hair is really cute but may be too plain for some tastes - kind of a golden, buttery blonde to me.

My pre-ordered Rapunzel and Mother Gothel Doll Set. The slipcover has been removed to reveal the dolls in their display case.

My pre-ordered full set of the 2015 Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Heroes and Villains dolls arrived after a delay on November 6, 2015. I had ordered them at the D23 Expo on August 14, 2015. They are all edition number of 65 of 6000. They came in perfect condition, and I think most if not all the dolls are better than the ones I bought separately (which I have deboxed or will debox). By the way, I got 5 gift bags in this shipment, and got another 5 in a separate shipment. So like most people who pre-ordered the full collection, I am getting twice as many bags as I should have.

Here are my first photos of the set, taken with flash. They were taken in front of my KidKraft Snowflake Mansion. I will later take photos of my deboxed Designer dolls next to these dolls, which I will leave boxed. But before I do that I will have to debox the Rapunzel and Mother Gothel set and the Snow Queen Elsa and Hans set.

This was one of my Christmas presents to myself that I preordered back in August.. Good Smile Company Beatless Lacia figure which also came with a guide book. BUT, the main reason I wanted this set, was its designed/artwork by Redjuice, one of my favorite illustrators.. It was a giant box inside another giant box!

The Limited Edition Ariel and Eric Doll Set, #12 of 6000, in their display case, with the clear acrylic cover removed. None of the factory restraints have been removed, but I have cleaned up Ariel's face a bit, and cut off a loose thread from her blouse. Photographed using built-in camera flash.

My pre-ordered Ariel and Eric Doll Set, from the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. It arrived on October 15, 2013, and I was thrilled to see that they are numbered #012 of 6000! It matches the number of the other doll sets in the pre-order, except that Snow White and the Prince is #4508 of 6000. There are some slight scratches on the gold nameplate and on the acrylic cover of the display case, but they are very minor, and don't diminish the look of the set. Ariel's head is posed a bit awkwardly, but I'll see if I can adjust it a bit without undoing any of the shipping restraints. There is also a loose thread hanging from the left sleeve of Ariel's blouse. Otherwise, Ariel and Eric look very beautiful, and in perfect shape. I'm so happy that I have them after failing to get them in the in-store raffle earlier in the day.

I'm not going to debox the dolls in this set, but I am going to take photos of it boxed, with the cover sleeve off, and with the clear acrylic cover off, to show off the dolls as much as possible without actually removing them from their factory restraints.

so, i can honestly say that i always thought that these cats were cute but i never ever felt the need to have one... till i saw the yellow girl!

the coloring just jumped out at me and screamed "must have!"

i love the bright yellow and orange and the pink of her nose!

i'm glad i was able to find one since i hadn't preordered or anything like that.

since she's my first (and likely only) nikki cat, i'd love some advice.

any recommendations for clothes and/or shoes?

i have nothing for her to wear!

I preordered an Integrity Toys Homme body on their direct store and decided to buy their Dynamite Girls A-Tone body cuz hey it was half price (IT said they would receive the body late Jan but I’ve heard nothing yet). From what I saw online A Tone was usually IT’s second or third most dark skin tone so I hoped I could articulate one of my painted body dolls.

Unfortunately, it’s nowhere near the skin tone of my vintage Live Action Christie.

It’s closer to the Grace/Kara skin tone (Afra and light black) but it’s a lot less orange.

In the end I chose to put my late 70s/early 80s Malibu Christie on here since she has the same issue with being too grey for modern dolls. My Pink N’ Pretty Christie from 1981 is the exact same skin tone so I guess IT (light) A-tone would match the 80s AA mattel dolls.
