Der Hamburger Hafen ist der offene Tidehafen in der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg und hat eine Fläche von 7236 Hektar. Er ist der größte Seehafen in Deutschland und, nach den Häfen von Rotterdam und Antwerpen, der drittgrößte in Europa. Der Hafen bietet 320 Liegeplätze für Seeschiffe an 35 Kilometer Kaimauer, davon 38 Großschiffsliegeplätze für Container- und Massengutschiffe sowie 97 Liegeplätze an Dalben. Der Umschlag von Gütern findet zu etwa zwei Drittel im Stückgut statt, und dieser fast zu 98 % in Containern. 1966 wurde erstmalig ein Container im Hamburger Hafen, am HHLA Burchardkai in Waltershof, gelöscht.

Funny how easy-going physicists are about certain assembly instructions. They just jot them down on the side of components with pencil. I snapped this one at a facility called LINAC4 (Linear Accelerator 4). Since this was the third site on the CERN tour, right after a copious lunch, I found myself pretty blank in the maze of pipes, gauges, cables, computers and whatever-else-you-can-think-of. I assembled the image above from two separate shots, since the pencil drawing was a bit further along the plate.
One other interesting thing: I have never ever seen a desk with the following line-up of objects on it: computer, plant and vise.
These two marine chronometers are by Parkinson and Frodsham, London. The one on the the left is older and is in pristine condition. The one on the right has been subjected to water damage and has been ruined by attempts to de-rust it, and by sub-standard repairs. It is not considered repairable.

1964 Fender Precision Bass. Original Sunburst finish. Rosewood fingerboard & C profile neck. Weight: 8.2 lbs. Serial: L33056. All original other than some touched up solder. original case (cosmetically the exterior of the case has seen better days but the latches & handle still work, the interior is still in good condition) This bass plays and sounds awesome. The tone is rich, warm and round which you can only get from these early Fenders. The body shows some wear around the edges & a few nicks and dings but nothing major. The neck is very slim & smooth with some of the finish having worn off. This can all be seen in the pics. The frets have very little play wear. All hardware & electronics work with no issues including the truss rod. The headstock is very clean. Set up nice and low with a great action by my technician. The pots date the 26th week of 64, the neck date is 5th July 64 C.
