This tiny 7" x 7" or 178mm x178mm motherboard has done well but time to redo the insides and see what the second life will have.

The MagSafe connector for the power supply on MacBook Pro computers is held in place by a magnet that can easily detached if the cord is gently tugged. A design that protects the computer from potential trips over the power cord.

A scene from the Shropshire Union Canal as I walked from Ellesmere Port Boat Museum to Chester. The pylons are situated at the Capenhurst section of the canal as they convey electricity from the nuclear power plant in the area.

Where engineering meets poetry: Grønvollfoss Power Plant stands quietly by the Tinnåa river, its dam mirrored in a glass-like surface. Morning mist drapes the hills, softening the industrial lines into a serene composition. This hydroelectric station is part of Norway’s renewable energy backbone, harnessing the power of water to light up homes while preserving the harmony of nature.

Fun Fact

Grønvollfoss kraftverk was commissioned in 1933 and remains an important hydroelectric facility in Telemark. Norway generates over 90% of its electricity from hydropower, making scenes like this a symbol of sustainable energy.

Deriner dam is a concrete double-curved arch dam on the Çoruh river, near Artvin in the northeast of Türkiye.

These excavations were a necessary part of the dam construction.

The wording DSI on the dam refers to the State Hydraulic Works company of Türkiye (Devlet Su İşleri, in Turkish).

Faraway places.

From the north side of Dalen, the powerlines stretch into a silent ocean of winter fog, disappearing toward the sheltered valley below. Morning light brushes the ridges of Telemark while the landscape drifts between clarity and cloud. Fun fact: The Dalen area often experiences strong temperature inversions, trapping cold air—and fog—deep in the valley while the hills stand clear above.

MacroMonday theme Inside Electronics. Just so happens I was building a new Nelson Pass F5 Mosfet Power Amplifier (some here may know them) and had the two Power Supplies built and tested, so just powered one up and clicked this shot for this weeks theme!

I must add some of the finished amp images here too!

The reflection behind the LED is the side of a large Capacitor and I cleaned the dust as much as I could but it kept coming back onto it.

The image is about two inches by a little over an inch high!

Thank you for the views and favs and comments, in advance, always appreciated!

A look under the hood at the insides of a desktop computer, taken for the Flickr Friday group theme, "BTS (Behind the scenes)."

I put this machine together in 2009 and retired it in 2020; we'd been through a lot together.

Strobist info:

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights placed 45° CL/CR, two-feet above and three-feet away from the subject. They were fired in Manual mode @ ¼ +0.7EV power through Neewer 24" x 24" softboxes.

The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard PlusX's.

Lens: Nikkor 10-20 mm f/4.5-5.6.

My latest DIY amplifier. This one is powering a Dayton Audio Titanic MKIII 12" subwoofer in a custom enclosure. The amp is good for about 700watts (peak, not rms) and will shake the floorboards!

Palma De Mallorca, a vibrant young city with a beautiful old town. It's great fun to discover on a walk.

The sunrise in the east silhouettes these power lines near rural Fairfield, Montana.

The sunrises are glorious here in Montana. When you know the sunrise will be magnificent it is often hard to find something to silhouette against the colorful sky. Luckily these power lines came into view just as the sky came to life.

Day 31/365

Saltdean, Sussex, United Kingdom.

These are getting more rare every day as all power lines and cables are going under ground nowadays. No wonder! Those are always a bit of a mess!

……One from a few weeks ago when they replaced the power lines & poles in our street, instead of having 5 single cables running we now have one multicore - a better perch for the birds and great visibility to them too I guess! This is one of many faulty computer power supplies... I keep it for "spares" for later.

I have many really old computer spares stored in boxes in the shed/outbuilding.
