Today I felt as though I wanted to burst. The need to go out. The need to do something. The need to be someone.
I will break free from the confines of normal life, and somehow find what it means to truly live.

I had a great talk with my dad tonight about life, and what we live and work for. Sometimes we can get lost in doing the things we do on a daily basis, and we forget to ask why.
Why do we have jobs, why do we work. To make money? well what does money give us? the next payment on a house that will wind up owning us.
That can't be the meaning of it all.
My dad told me the story of someone close to him who worked his whole life, saving all he could so he could have a great retirement, and just as he reached the age in which he could finally enjoy life, he fell ill, and is no longer able to leave the house. My sympathies go out.
And I won't let that happen to me. A job makes money, money lets you do what you want to do. Material possessions come and go just as we do, the only thing that matters is experience. We only live once, and in the end will we look back and be happy because of that crap we managed to amass, or will we realize that it was our experiences that made our life complete.
What do you love to do. I suggest you do more of it. Life is short. Spend time with the ones you love doing the things you love.

I was working on some stock photos, and I decided to follow up with some film images. I had some film loaded into roll film backs that needed to be used up, so I polished off one roll on this. I'm having trouble seeing images on the ground glass these days, so I didn't notice that the end of the knife handle was a little blurry, but it's not too bad otherwise.
Camera: Sinar Aplina with a 6x9 roll film back
Lens: 152mm Kodak Ektar
Film: Ilford PanF+ developed in D76. I mixed some of my own D76 to give it a try. I will have to experiment more with it. It isn't the gold standard for nothing.
In the studio, I used 2 Powerlight 750 strobes., and one Powerlight 375 strobe overhead.

The next will be seen in 2034 but with the cold that I got .... okay .............................. .....
I was out on a motorcycle to be more agile. On the way back, ten minutes from home, I had the flash ..... I put away the camera, the tripod I have it on their shoulders ....... but the wire shutter? I used it but I did not put away, so, back, and with the PowerLight, to look for him in the field muddied the foreground .......
..... I found ....I ask compassion for my translation.......
Many thanks to everyone for your views, faves and supportive comments. These are always very much appreciated

Kansas City (abbreviated KC or KCMO) is the largest city in Missouri by population and area. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 508,090 in 2020, making it the 36th most-populous city in the United States. It is the most populated municipality and historic core city of the Kansas City metropolitan area, which straddles the Kansas–Missouri state line and has a population of 2,392,035. Most of the city lies within Jackson County, with portions spilling into Clay, Cass, and Platte counties. Kansas City was founded in the 1830s as a port on the Missouri River at its confluence with the Kansas River coming in from the west. On June 1, 1850, the town of Kansas was incorporated; shortly after came the establishment of the Kansas Territory. Confusion between the two ensued, and the name Kansas City was assigned to distinguish them soon after.
Sitting on Missouri's western boundary with Kansas, with Downtown near the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, the city encompasses about 319.03 square miles (826.3 km2), making it the 23rd largest city by total area in the United States. It serves as one of the two county seats of Jackson County, along with the major suburb of Independence. Other major suburbs include the Missouri cities of Blue Springs and Lee's Summit and the Kansas cities of Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, and Kansas City, Kansas.
The city is composed of several neighborhoods, including the River Market District in the north, the 18th and Vine District in the east, and the Country Club Plaza in the south. Celebrated cultural traditions include Kansas City jazz, theater, which was the center of the Vaudevillian Orpheum circuit in the 1920s, the Chiefs and Royals sports franchises, and famous cuisine based on Kansas City-style barbecue, Kansas City strip steak, and craft breweries.

A portrait of Kansas City's renaissance can be seen quite clearly in this one image.
Ten years ago, the Streetcar was just a dream, the Power and Light District to the left was just opening, and the renovation on the theater on the right had just completed, after years of neglect. Now, the scene on a Saturday night was nothing but hustle & bustle as bar-goers, theater attendees, a wedding reception, and countless other activities kept the area going.
Regarding the theater, you can read of it's star-studded past, decline and rebirth here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mainstreet_Theater

p.s. I got a new camera today, about which I am pretty excited, can't wait to see what it will do. For one, exposure bracketing a single RAW file +1.5 stops to bring up detail in the suit was no problem!

So the assignment was to take a portrait of Flare staff photographer Sara Holmes (quite a good photographer herself), and we decided it needed to be a bit over the top. This photo also introduces my lovely new Nikon D800! The image above is about 95 percent of the frame (I cropped mostly to straighten the background). This is how it worked out.
Strobist: 4 Calumet Travelites and a Powerlight. Key was a 750 in a Softlighter camera left at full power. Fill was the Powerlight at about 1/4 power in a beauty dish, almost on axis. The backlighting was all around full power ... and can be see in the photo. There's a Travelite 375 in there. Triggered by Pocket Wizard and optical slave. Shutter was at 1/160, f/22 at 50 ISO. Lens was a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VRI at 70mm. Edited in Adobe Lightroom 5 and finished in Photoshop CS6.
The hair is from a flapping foam core board from camera right. Very effective!

This is Doc, one of our big boys. I shot this with a Mamiya 6 folding camera on Mummy 400 film. I used a Photogenic 1250 Powerlight to open up the shadows under the barn. Doc is a sweetheart and he and his half brother Skip are two of my favorite subjects. This camera was a recent acquisition but unfortunately it had a serious light leak so I had to return it to the seller.
I have been craving some resolution lately, so I spent a few minutes in the studio with Chelsea. I also finally brought out the Nikon D600 and my 70-200mm lens. Chelsea is just great in front of the lens.
Strobist: Key light was a Calumet Travelite 750 through a softbox, about 1/2 power and roughly 5-7 feet away camera right. Fill was a Powerlight with a beauty dish all the way down and maybe 5-8 feet away ... slightly camera left. I had a boomed hairlight over her (a Calumet Genesis) and I think a little weak spot camera left on the white background - a Calumet Travelite 750 turned very low. Triggered by a Pocket Wizard on the fill light and optical triggers on the other lights. Camera was my Nikon D600 with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR at 200mm. Settings were 1/160 (blah sync speed) at f/16 and 100 ISO.
