Out of bounds at Heavenly, Lake Tahoe, area called Firebreak.
Go through an exit gate warning "You Could Die", and a 3,000'+ fall-line descent into town is all yours.
Due to the drought, haven't been able to access this for three years.
Winter Is Back?

Sean ripping through the fresh snow on a bluebird morning at Taos Ski Valley. I knew some snow had fallen overnight, I didn't realize it would be this good though!

Powder is back! Last Friday was my first powder day of the 2022/23 ski season. We had about 14 inches (35.5 cm) of snow overnight and my friend Jeff and I were first chair on Alta's Wildcat lift. This was on our third lap of the day - a perfect powder moment at a semi-secret spot we're often the first to ski after a storm. Jeff has great form and I love the snow wave and his body position in this photo. It's pretty much powder perfection.

Yesterday was dreamy. I can make more sophisticated and subtle ski photos. But this right here is what it's all about - first tracks on deep powder day. This is why I don't think I'll ever leave Utah.

We had a very nice and much-needed 28-inch storm last week at Alta. Things are looking good again in the mountains and it felt great to be skiing powder and making pow photos, again. This is three-time Olympian and Alta athlete, Megan McJames in some legitimately deep powder we skied after hiking and waiting for about half an hour for a rope drop. Next storm comes in tomorrow and I can't wait for more!

Alta welcomed the first weekend of spring with almost two feet of fresh, fluffy snow. I have no complaints.
What a nice surprise. I expected five inches or so of snow today and it turned out to be a 13-inch powder day. This is Alta's Marketing Director and my boss, getting absolutely buried. I think this may be my favorite powder photo of the season. It's so kinetic and chaotic. I love it! I'm really glad I took the day off to ski, today. Chances are, this was the last legit powder day of the season.
Don't let my Flickr photos make you think it's spring here in Utah. There's up to 40 inches of snow forecast for the mountains over the next few days. Bring on the storm skiing!
I love a good snow wave photo. Alta had 17 inches of fresh snow yesterday morning and I did a few laps with fellow action sports photographer, Steven Lloyd. I wasn't on the clock but I did take a few pictures of Steve getting barrelled in the pow. There was another 9 inches last night but I skied the last four days and I have office work to do :-(
