After lunch in Pekan Nabalu, we went for a stroll around the garden / park nearby to enjoy the panoramic scenery of Mount Kinabalu.

While walking around the park, I saw this spider between 2 leaves joined together by silk (it's home).

This is so far the largest huntsman spider I have ever seen.

It's light brown hairs looks like animal furs.

Luckily this one is not active so I can take many clear photographs of this one.

July 2009

After a much better nights sleep with the A/C on, we again headed into Rhodes Town.

We decided yesterday that we'd try a trip on the Orca glass bottomed boat. We did and were disappointed by the lack of what there was to see. It did go fast at a couple of points and that kinda made up for it.

After that we decided to be total lazy tourists and take the Tourist Train to see a few more sights. It was actually better than we thought. Ok we travelled at not much more than 10mph, but we got out of the Old Town and got to see the Rhodes Acropolis and other Ancient Greek sites which we couldn't have accessed without a car. Headed back via Rhodes New Town and the saw the beaches (which we would return to on our last day).

Then we wandered in Rhodes Old Town again, had some food in the more touristy Hippocratus Square and then went for a dusk wander up to the Palace of the Grand Masters and outside the city walls.
