in response to the number of cookies, believe it or not, it's just 1 small plate of cookies (about 15 of them), about 60 photos and a hell of a lot of photoshop. imagine if i did actually have this many cookies, that'd be awesome!!!

Not knowing when the next wave is going to hit you, perhaps is your best chance to stay positive. The only way to survive is battling back even if you are feeling down.
Shooting with a GoPro Hero is a totally strange experience for me. Being an optical view finder guy, I have never gotten used to compose a shot with electronic view finders on my mobile phone, or even my Powershot S100. Now, imagine shooting in front of your subjects without using your hand, and instead, strapping and composing the camera with your head. You only get to see the results after pulling still frames out of a long video recording. This is weird and totally out of my comfort zone, but at the same time I feel this as another challenge to get something unique and fun.
My first ever sighing of these butterflies in the UK, though I'd seen one of the European race in France in 1995.
Well worth the visit to Strumpshaw in the end, though a glorious morning in Nottingham turned to an ominously overcast one as I drove along the A47 around Norwich and I thought it wasn't going to happen! Especially as I'd missed a good showing in the morning before I arrived; and also missed another short showing whilst waiting and hoping for the sun to come out over lunchtime in the Fen Hide, as the sun and butterflies emerged all too briefly during that time. Thankfully, all was well in the end when the sun finally came out again in late afternoon after a 4 hour wait and the butterflies finally emerged. What a beautiful sight!

hard to say these days...stuck at home, only bad news from the media…troubles after troubles ...it's hard to be positive but we have to try! stay safe and...smile like a zebra!

After intercepting the line of storms just south of Rotterdam, I decided to let the shelf cloud come over me.
Windshear and instability were not too impressive, so I didn't expect it to remain a long-lived storm.
It produced a few positive lightning bolts before fading out. One of these cg+ can be seen on this image.

What is my focus when I’m waiting for him to come home
Travelling for over 12 hours
If I should have been thinking about all what could go wrong I would be totally ruined by the time he came home
So, I’m staying focused that his travel will be safe and all is well when he arrives at the airport

I guess reflections in my table did get some of my deeper thoughts, because I’m always a bit worried – after all

Once again it turned out better in black and white. I might have to work on that skill as well.
The setup was quit simple. I hang a bag of water above a dish, with a small hole in it. Used a flash to stop the water and then a lot of try and error.
It’s been a rough week. A little over a week ago I got pretty badly injured on my knee during the football game. Already I’ve had an operation to the torn menisci, and high likely there will be another one within a few months. I’m only aloud to walk a few meters in the house, so making (landscape)photographs is impossible and I thinks it’s needless to say that hurts. But is it? My (very sweet) girl saw my struggle and came up with a wonderful idea. “Isn’t there a place I can drive you to? Where you just can get out the car and make a shot?”, she asked. “Uh, well, I don’t know… Maybe, yes! The tulip fields of course!” Actually I wasn’t feeling that much inspired anymore by the tulips, as I’ve shot them quite a few times now, and normally I would go out around sunrise or sunset. But it was all the more fun now. We drove a lot around the fields, searching for one which was easily accessible (even with crutches), and finally found this field. This one also has its lanes directly towards the sun, so I waited some time for them to line up and made this shot with the Nisi 15mm and its wonderful sunstar (in my opinion at least). A nice boost and a strong reminder to stay positive, hopefully soon enough I will be out and about again on my own, and my loved camera of course!

And that's not been a particularly-common thing. Anyway, this is from Ina Coolbrith Park on Russian Hill, as you may know, and taken around the holidays.
There are a few stories about shooting around Russian Hill I could mention, but to keep things positive, I'll just poke fun at myself and admit that I hiked around the seriously-steep streets in this area for years without knowing about Coolbrith Park. Yep, it's pretty sad, but in the late 90's I shot here many times and thought I was lucky to find a fairly-clear vista of the downtown area from the street or sidewalk. Haha. We must remember our past nearsightedness to keep us sharp, right? Uh...yeah.

I've just learned that at Marwell Wildlife Sanctuary in the UK, the last Amur leopard there has died. Staff had named him Akin. This is very sad news.
I would always make sure to visit him when travelling back home if I could include a trip to Marwell. He had been at the sanctuary for 20 years.
Over the years, the Amur leopard has been hunted mercilessly, its homelands gradually destroyed by unsustainable logging, forest fires, road building, farming and industrial development.
But! Recent research shows conservation work is having a positive effect and wild Amur leopard numbers are believed to have increased, though there are still only around 100 adults in the wild, in Russia and north-east China.
