The Alabama Hills in California contains strangely eroded rocks, some of which appear to be sharp points poking at the sky.
Happy Saturated Saturday!
Psalm 58:8: “Let them (wicked rulers: David is probably speaking about King Saul and his cohorts) be like a snail that melts away as it moves along! Let them be like stillborn babies that never see the sun!”
Decided to go with a utilitarian object rather than something vintage. Had to stick the lens inside the glass to take this which got interesting when I tried to put some sparkling water in there too!
One of my attempts at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "multicolour bubble bokeh".
Shot with a Rodenstock "Magnagon 75 mm F 4 " (enlarging) lens on a Canon EOS R5.
Surprising what you find when you poke around in city side streets. A quiet alley with a quaint little shop, bamboo plants outside, and colorful paper umbrellas visible through the window. A tree across the way, offers some shade to those that want to stop a while and escape the hustle and bustle.

Brave scout
After the pups spotted me and vanished into the Willow thicket, I circled around to the other side. Perhaps they came out on that side. No luck with that. Once again I returned to the original spot. Initially there were no pups in sight. Then, after about 10 minutes, this brave pup poked his head out and came into the open. He saw me right away. It was time to give them a rest. I turned walked away.

Flit pokes at her friend to see what is making her tick... or rather why she's able to move around with her insides on the outside.
Fascinating... And Squishy

I had to google this.....makes sense to me. A dead fish carcass will float, causing an array of problems, including stink. If the gases are removed by poking the eyes, the carcass will sink to the bottom and be eaten by various bottom feeders.
I decided to take a mini-walk at lunch today with the intention of taking pictures. It was cloudy and temperature was not too cold. I think it's starting to warm up in the PNW and spring is just arround the corner. With just the right amount of light I was able to create this. Hopefully this one is looking like it's poking through your monitors.
Video is on Flickr to stay, get used to it.
This was both an attempt to make the least "video" video I could do, while also poking at the "we hate video" crowd.
(NOTE: I no longer smoke, thank goodness. Quit March of 2011, still going almost two years later.)

Mesquite Dunes, Death Valley, California
Branches of a creosote bush poke through the dunes. It is early morning and the sky is lit up by the rising sun. The Grapevine Mountains are in the background.
The water table underneath the dune field on Mequite Flat is quite near the surface. Aquifers from outside the valley bring in the water. The creosote bush is a long rooted plant that won't let a bit of sand get between it and water. I wonder how old it is.
