Woke up feeling pretty horrible. Tested positive for Covid. Great. Hopefully I will get through it.
Here is your Macro Monday.

Spinning the cogs of time, the voyager unravels the lost pages of the ancient world. The wealth of wisdom so cataclysmically destroyed brought back in time instituting what was once known as the capitol of knowledge and learning, the Library of Alexandria.
Yay, steampunk! ^^

This is my grandfather's pocket watch. He was a watchmaker and uses this watch as a basis for setting all other clocks.
It still works!

A broken pocket watch that was amongst the "treasures" kept by family members over the years and have finally come to me... I have no idea who it belonged to to or on what day it stopped at nearly twenty to twelve....a mystery.
Taken for Smile on Saturday theme Capture the Time.
---
This fine watch, loved by Secretary since he was a little boy (and still working with high accuracy), once belonged to a civil servant bank director in Königsberg, East Prussia (now Kaliningrad), who was forced into retirement during the "Third Reich". He also wore it when he fled to the West, in 1945, which came to Secretary's mind when looking at the pictures of the long lines of people fleeing a little further south these days.
---
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ufa film studios, the color film "Münchhausen," produced at great expense and with a star-studded cast, was released in 1943 - in the middle of World War II. It told the life story of the well-known and popular "Liar Baron" Hieronymus von Münchhausen - as was fitting for a film commissioned by the Minister of Propaganda himself. The film was expressly intended to be an entertainment film and not a propaganda film. The screenplay was written by the writer Erich Kästner, who was actually banned from his profession, under a pseudonym. Despite strict censorship, some dialogues contain potentially subversive statements. For example, Münchausen replies to his servant Christian when the latter, looking at the baron's watch, sais that either the watch must be broken, or time itself: "Time is broken, Christian."
That's all there is to say today, too.
and, Good morning ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
Let's do our best with a smile this week (๑*ˊᵕˋ)۶♥

Several generations old. HWW Co.
Made in Waltham Mass. 17 jewels.
The exif data has a wrong aperture; it should read f/5.6. The 58mm ought to read 60mm. I will try to fix...

When my Granddad died in 1970, this pocket-watch he owned was given to me! He never owned a wrist watch in all his life, keeping this one in the waistcoat pocket or top pocket of the suit that he always wore. The photo of him is from about 1958 and he would have had a pocket-watch somewhere on his person!

My son's cheep pocket watch hanging in the tent in our backyard a few summers ago.
It is time for me to end this wonderful break with you...for now. I plan to be back posting sooner than the last break I took!
Anyone, other than me, going to miss Flickr's People feed?
Why didn't they 'retire' the Activity feed instead? An ad riddled page where one cannot navigate between people without twice as many clicks of the mouse is a more antiquated approach in my opinion. It makes me wonder, with all today's technological improvement, why man insists on making things more complicated instead of streamline.
Tell me...how will you navigate catching up with the people you follow, come July 1st?

This is my other version for the Macro Mondays "Arrow" theme, an old pocket watch which I got from my Dad when I was about 14.

This gold pocket watch belonged to my late father in law. The glass cover has long gone and you might notice the short hand is broken. I wanted to do something different in photographing it. When I was done, I called it a day :)
Shot with vintage Jena Pancolar 50mm f1.8, and 12mm Kenko extension tube.
A golden pocket watch movement reflected in my Apple Watch.
This took me more takes and experimentation than I care to mention!
An old pocket watch connected to its chain...and a connection to the past. Two connections for Macro Mondays theme of...you guessed it, "Connection". HMM!

---
In the Sixth Coalition War, Prussia and its allies wanted to use Napoleon's defeat in the Russian campaign of 1812 to end the French period and achieve the liberation of Germany from French occupation. Under the motto "Gold gab ich für Eisen" (Gold I gave for iron) in particular women were invited to give their gold jewelry as a patriotic act in exchange for a piece of iron jewelry with this inscription.
In the first world war this call was renewed for everyone. This watch chain has one link embossed "IN EISERNER ZEIT” (IN IRON TIMES) and two with "GOLD ZUR WEHR - EISEN ZUR EHR” (GOLD FOR DEFENSE - IRON FOR HONOR).
The brooch on the front left is a reworked coin (Two Marks) of the German Empire and has the inscription "FRIEDRICH I 1701" (in 1701 Prussia became a kingdom) and "WILHELM II 1901” on the edge.
Macro Mondays - Timepiece
