Hello All!
This image is a reminder to myself that there are some pleasant things out there in this world of ours. Giant Swallowtails do not come to Manitoba, so it was a big thrill for me to see one! This image was taken at the Butterfly Exhibit which was hosted by the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Summer 2018.

These beauties were crossing our road on the way to the cottage. I was lucky to get a few photos before they bounced off into the forest.

Once in a while, I see people riding on the beach and it's always a pleasure for me to see a horse. I couldn't tell if Tidda was more interested in the dog or the horses. I had her on the leash, of course, because you don't want to risk spooking a horse.
Viewed from the footbridge at Mount Pleasant level crossing, tidy looking 33117 passes Southampton Bevois Park sidings with a parcels train in the summer of 1983.
Thanks to [https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman] for identifying the train, this is likely to be 3o21, the 2108 Preston to Southampton Western Docks.
Prominent are the cement hoppers belonging to Rugby cement which, at the time, were filled by a daily train from Halling in Kent. Also visible are several ERF (Foden) cement tankers which would have been used to distribute the cement locally.
Bevois Park sidings were disused for many years but returned to use as an aggregate terminal in December 2015. In 2023 the terminal is served several times a week with stone from Whatley Quarry in Somerset.

I'm always pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the full moon, appearing over the trees across the lake and slowly but steadily moving higher and left to right across my wall of windows, fully in my range of view even while lounging on the couch. An unexpected treat always bringing a small smile. On particularly clear nights, it lights up the lake, now just about frozen over and already being utilized as a more convenient thoroughfare for some of the local denizens. I suppose some anticipate this monthly phenomenon by following calendars or charts. I believe I'll continue to be surprised...

A rather turbulent looking and somewhat elongated cloud, skirts the surface of the ocean and touches the crest of Pender Island. Above and behind, the swift moving higher clouds also reveal a warm light. Just another pleasant day in Sechelt with some new discoveries including a lone duck.
"Always shoot the depot" they say. And so it was on this fine late Fall morning that I photographed the Indiana Northeastern six-axles passing the former New York Central depot at Pleasant Lake just a few miles north of Steubenville, where they'll swing east onto the former Wabash and the Norfolk Southern interchange at Montpelier, Ohio. This was a fun Sunday chasing some EMD classics with good friends. Thanks to the birdies for the scoop!
Sundance has rarely been on my lap. But this week he decided it needed to be done. This is probably because I was sitting in his preferred office chair and, further, had my feet on his alternative office chair thus preventing him from napping in one or the other. So his solution was simply to lay on me for his nap.
Happy Caturday!!

A resting canoe awaiting it's next outing across a calm Little Redfish Lake. Not mine, but one can dream and remember the pleasure of gliding across such a quiet and peaceful lake.
Thanks for taking a look. Always appreciated!
Enjoy a wonderful weekend!
This residence has a front seat view of Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton Maine. The foliage makes this scenery especially wonderful.
This rural church seems to be a bit more modern than some of the others I've photographed recently. My favorite part is the bell located outside the entrance.

Rio Grande 3131 and 3130 depart Magna, Utah on the Garfield Branch with four cars for Roper Yard on June 12, 1998. This would be the last time I would photograph all-D&RGW power on the Midvale Tramp.
This curlew was sat calling on the edge of the moorland grass. It stayed for a good 5 minutes and was incredible to see it up close for so long.
