Aquesta porta barraba el pas entre la plataforma ferroviaria de Birkenau i tot el sector B II, el més gran del camp, així com els crematoris IV i V. Pertant bona part de les víctimes de les cambres de gas també passaren per aquí cap al seu suplici.
A nivell personal, jo que vaig estar al Japó, em fa pensar en una versió horrible i diabolica d'una torii.
Auschwitz. Què més puc dir més enllà d’aquest toponim en alemany d’una vila polonesa. Tots ja sabeu què fou, de 1940 a 1945. Aquí es creà un camp de concentració per la explotació salvatge i mortal dels enemics del III Reich. Però sobretot a partir de 1943 i a la seva extensió (i futur camp independent) de Birkenau: l’extermini dels jueus europeus a nivell industrial.
Birkenau, o Auschwitz II, fou la expansió massiva del camp original (després conegut com Auschwitz I) a partir de 1942, inicialment amb el proposit d'explotar l'influx massiu de presoners de guerra sovietics, però que aviat va canviar cap a camp d'extermini per als jueus europeus, francesos, holandesos, grecs i sobretot, polonesos i hongaresos. Les cambres de gas de Birkenau començaren a funcionar el març de 1942 i no pararen fins octubre de 1944. Finalment, el camp fou alliberat el 21 de gener de 1945. Els nazis hi assassinaren més de 1.300.000 persones, la gran majoria just baixar dels trens, i la gran majoria, jueus...

This gate controled the pass between the Birkenau railway platform and the whole B.II sector of the camp. But also towards the Crematoria IV and V (Krema IV, Krema V). So quite a lot of the victims of the gas chambers passed through this somber sign.

A pesar de que el retroceso de los glaciares es muy visible desde hace varias décadas en el paisaje andino, aún no es evidente para la población en general que tiene causas físicas identificables y relacionadas con el clima.
La tradición animista, todavía muy presente en las cordilleras
antiguamente ocupadas por los incas, sitúa a los “nevados” (el término “glaciar” no se utiliza en el
lenguaje cotidiano) en el mundo sobrenatural. Lo que podemos considerar como “desiertos blancos”
son en realidad para muchos andinos lugares ocupados por divinidades ancestrales, achachillas en
Bolivia, apus en Perú.
Las comunidades siempre han buscado ganarse sus favores mediante rituales, cultos y ofrendas, entre ellos incluso sacrificios humanos que se practicaron hasta el periodo incaico.
Imploran a estas divinidades para que les concedan agua y condiciones que garanticen una buena cosecha, garante de su supervivencia. Estas creencias permanecen vivas, como lo demuestran las prácticas chamánicas alrededor de las montañas en sitios a veces muy antiguos.
