Pretty soon, we will have more in common with Ken & Barbie than we used to....like when we were kids and pretended we actually WERE Ken & Barbie.

hive dust // do u ever feel like a plasticbag . (gacha)

I went down to the Bayfield Pier this afternoon to have a look at Lake Huron. I wanted to dispose of a Kleenex, I had just used in a garbage can near the pier. To my surprise their was a live Raccoon in the can!!! It startled me!

I shoot in AV mode most of the time, today I decided to try Manual... and was really happy with the results... but so much to think about!! lol...

#CrinkledWrinkledFoldedOrCreased

Actually I only tried to make this small wrinkled and folded up part of a small translucent plastic bag (which contained roasted, salted peanuts with skin - very healthy, especially with the skin, because that contains a high amount of antioxydants and dietary fibres, even if the peanuts are roasted) look nice "somehow". Then, while I tried different ways of illuminating it (I placed it on colourful Christmas lights, and used a bright LED light, and a small LED torch which emits a rather blue-ish light), I noticed that it reminded me of a deep-sea creature, a jellyfish, maybe. So I decided to go for that. The irony here is rather sickening, of course, because plastic is a material that should have no place in our oceans at all, and yet they are full of it...

Processed in Luminar (the usual suspects: Luminar's own "Accent Al" Filter, Detail Enhancer, Micro-Structure, HSL, Channel Mixer, removed some noise...), and ON1 Photo RAW (HDR Look subtle).

A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

ON1 (HDR Look subtle).

Habt eine schöne Herbstwoche, Ihr Lieben!

LIU Wei, plastic bags (2017), 120x240 cm

LIU Wei repurposes everyday materials to explore perception, societal contradictions and environmental impact by transforming post-industrial objects – especially plastic bags – into intricate wire mesh artworks. Glossy, vibrant and cheap but, simultaneously, toxic plastic bags embody both convenience and ecological harm. Through months of meticulous labour, LIU reshapes the waste materials into luminous forms, questioning whether discarded remnants of modern life can find redemption through artistic reconfiguration.

His work invites reflection on the long-term consequences of industrialisation, as the PVC in his objects takes a millennium to degrade. While these artworks will ultimately vanish, their message endures, offering a striking meditation on waste, permanence and the role of art in confronting crises.

Central station, those celebrating Easter in another place had already travelled a few days earlier. Almost completely deserted. Finally it happened, a man came walking past me on the left side. He stopped, took a step to the right and stood in the exact spot I had hoped for. Then he turned to look around. Preparation met opportunity and this was the result

Street entertainer outside Costa on Market Street, Manchester, UK.

If you’re wondering where the title comes from it’s the expression on the young lady’s face on the right; that’s what I think she is saying, but you make up your own mind.

Sethi watched me working in the garden and almost immediately fell asleep. As a pillow he used the ugly blue plastic bag in which I put my garden clippings to take them to the local recycling centre. It's close to impossible to take photos of a Sethi who is fully awake as during daytime he recharges his batteries to be prepared for a busy night ...

This is a close-up B&W photo of the creased folds in a plastic bag. I love the fortuitous visual alchemy of this image. The prosaic subject matter becomes transmuted into an imaginary landscape - an aquatic kelp forest, or plasma filaments on the surface of the sun. As one's eye scans over the image, it's surprising and magical to find partially concealed pareidolia faces peering out from between some of the filaments.

A black and white photograph of a plastic bag..
