This shot seems to be one of the ones that I think would be quite hard to recreate, especially with the positioning of the surprise seagull. Although, what surprised me more than that, was the fact that the seagull had flown into the image, just about on the focal plane, despite being at F2.8 giving it a narrow opportunity of placement as well. Taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark 2.
Another hazy sunrise from Islandhill. The water was flat calm giving perfect reflections. Beautiful to just stand and watch :)

San Diego Skyline from Coronado Island

One of my favorite spots to take photos of the Sand Diego skyline. My camera is right down on the sand of Coronado beach between the ferry landing and Centennial Park. 2020 was the Covid year. After holing up in my house for nearly three months when California declared a lockdown, I ventured out to Santa Barbara in late May for a Photo Expedition, and spent a full day in San Diego in November. Not really "trips" per se, but I filled a few SD cards with lots of wonderful photos.
A "version" of this view, titled "San Diego on the Rocks" and processed during 2020, is one of my "Best of" photos that year. Now that I've processed this one over five years later, I think I like it better.
This is a "focus stack" utilizing multiple images taken with the focus on a different plane, and then combining them in Photoshop so that the whole photo is in focus. I also had to use the most radical "ghosting" setting for the skyline in the Photomatix Pro HDR program so as not to get multiple placements of the sailboat because it was moving along at a good clip.
I'll also mention that I take handheld "focus stacks" almost regularly now when at a beach taking a shot where I want to show both the foreground and background in sharp focus. You have to have a pretty steady hand to do this when you're shooting three images on one plane, moving the focus and then three images on another. My camera at the time was a Canon EOS 80D.
Same trees as yesterday, with varying subject placement and crop. Birds don't generally give framing options, so it's nice to find a subject that allows exploration of placement. TBH, I think that all of these are attractive options.
