on a straw placemat

I'm a grab me some shrimp fried rice. Test the chilli beef while I'm at it. Too much of course.

I liked how the sunlight passing thru this glass dispersed itself on the placemat, while the straw remained a solid shadow.

Macro Mondays - Mesh - Hmm

I made this for Elise and put a pocket for her cutlery.

...woven using recycled cloth for the interior. The weaving structure is called "rep" and is widely used to make anything from larger rugs to small coasters. A cheap and environmentally friendly way to re-use/recycle old material. Washable and very durable .. here the interior was part of an old bedsheet! I love these placemats - they are large, sturdy and very colourful too!

Shot with the Canon EOS 70D and a Helios 44-2 lens.

Today I'm very excited: I'm about to go on a shooting expedition.

Not here in my usual surroundings, but over in The Big City. In a neighbourhood I've always always ALWAYS wanted to shoot.

It's rough. Um... very rough. But I have (for the first time ever) friends going with me. Good friends. Old friends. One of whom just bought his first DSLR and can't wait to get out and try all its coolness.

So... yeah. The roughest neighbourhood in Canada awaits me, with all its dirt and decay and decrepitude.

To quote my hero Paul Westerberg, I can't hardly wait.

Ace vintage placemat and holder!

The 4 placemats I made for my Urban Home Goods swap partner. :)

These are constructed similarly to the coasters. Staggering the fabric blocks was a very smart move - accuracy wasn't my strong suit with these.

Finally ~ made something for ME! I made six of them.

This is the front of the one I sent to Julie, jgmehlin. Liberated crosses with Fassetts and black/white fabrics. Organic horizontal quilting. Scrappy binding.

I LOVE it - thank you Stephanie!!!!!! Have just finished doing a little dance long enough to take a pic.

She also sent some lovely fabric but i forgot to take a pic of that as i was too busy dancing!

All is good wih the world today :-)

My submission for Macro Mondays.

sent to Dawnsquilts. I hope she has lots of lovely meals on it!

It's not hard to get revved up for this milestone.

Crazy Tuesday: Reflections

I folded a plastic silver placemat with a cut-out design around a small round mirror (bottom half of photo). WIndow light came through the cut-outs and created this effect. This is a colour photo.

A simple placemat makes an extraordinary morning...

my kitchen is full of crazy awesomeness!

Barb (quilting barbie) totally went above and beyond and made me everything I could hope for! "I Spy" placemats for the girls and green ones for my husband and I, 2 hotpads, and 5 amazing little magnets PLUS some extra fabric of some of my favorites! Barb I love ya! :)

This is the back of the placemat I made and sent to Julie, jgmehlin. Funky birds to liven up the back, organic quilting, removable leaves/label attached with snaps. Shot cotton background, appliqued birds. HST border on 2 sides. I'm very pleased with how it came out, but need to relax more when doing "liberated". I'm too persnickety I guess and I like order! lol

Just noticed- the color is pretty washed out on this- the greens are much brighter.

The birds were inspired by the work of mrsmoen. mrsmoenpatterns.blogspot.com/2010/02/funky-fowl-pattern.html

the most adorable placemat arrived on my doorstep!! yeah!! i LOVE it!! THANKS, amy!!

Today I'm finishing 10 placemats. These are so much fun to make using 'found' scraps in the bin. Busy inside while it rains outside. #cy365#captureyour365#whereistandtoday#ourwisproject#placematsbyo#placematart#fiberart

I love these cute lil mats.

We had a bit of a bake-athon for a fund raising event recently. Hands up, I'm not the baker... My role is that of human guinea pig.

So when my wife asked me to try these little chaps, I was only too pleased to follow my orders... after I got the camera... tripod... strobe... reflector... props...

I've had to downgrade the resolution of this image, and introduce heavy watermarking, after finding other images on unauthorised sale. I apologise, as it now looks crap and a shadow of its former self.

Partner - I hope you like and can use these placemats. I was thinking of keeping them for myself! ;)

Do you know who the illustrator of this is? Please tell me!
