À la terrasse du Brise Miche, la vague de chaleur qui dure depuis deux semaines fait son point d’orgue sur la place Igor Stravinski, à plus de 30 degrés.
Dans la même rangée de tables que moi, cinq touristes anglophones, trois femmes, deux hommes, prennent du bon temps. Quelques platanes et un parasol beige nous protègent du soleil. Dans le bassin au milieu de la place, l’éléphant multicolore de Niki de Saint-Phalle crache de l’eau par sa trompe.
Une ombre en chemise brune et barbe grise demande : «S’il-vous-plaît, vous n’auriez pas des pièces ou un ticket restaurant?»
Pin-pon, pin-pon… Une ambulance? La police? Les pompiers? On entend, mais on ne voit pas.
Sans se retourner, le clochard à barbe rappelle à l’ordre son compagnon d’infortune, un gros chien noir : «Allez, Boule de Neige, on s’en va!»
Cheveux très longs, pas rasé, un jeune homme en t-shirt blanc gratte sa guitare devant la terrasse de Dame Tartine, à gauche sur la place. La respiration de la fontaine couvre sa musique. En face, de l’autre côté de la place, les bureaux de l’IRCAM se fondent dans le décor. La recherche musicale d’avant-garde se fait discrète. On la voit à peine, on ne l’entend pas.
Un camelot du Jour, fait sa réclame - Votre quotidien d’information générale! - et décline humoristiquement la manchette : «Ballamou présente sa réforme!» Le gaillard au t-shirt blanc porte maintenant des verres fumés et booste le volume à la guitare et au chant. Un cycliste tout-terrain passe en trombe sur le trottoir. Un deuxième guitariste se joint au premier : naissance d’un duo.
Le serveur du Brise Miche a une tête de Scandinave, de longs cheveux blonds noués en tresses. Un jeune noir très musclé, débardeur blanc et cheveux crépus, salue quelqu’un de la main.
Solidement arrimé dans des bottes jaunes d’ouvrier, le jeune homme au t-shirt blanc entame résolument une deuxième pièce qui ne saurait lui résister : «Baby, baby, I know you had to…» quelque chose, la suite m’échappe.
Deux autres touristes arrivent, «We could just sit over here…» Le guitariste électrique du nouveau duo se fend d’un solo. Imperturbable, l’éléphant pisse du nez.
Rebeuglement par le soliste initial, «No woman no cry.»
Une mère, un enfant, une poussette. Laquelle transporte aussi deux baguettes.
Les fontaines bassinent. Les guitaristes grattent. Ma peau moite colle sur la table. Je prends des notes sur une page arrachée dans le Télérama. Une pub épurée pour une chemise Lacoste. Je pense, tiens, c’est une croco-shirt!

La place Igor-Stravinsky is a private place open to the public in Paris, du 4th arrondissement.
This place is situated in the Saint-Merri quarter, in a section of the piétonnier, in the Nord-est, on the rue Saint-Merri and the Center national d'art and culture Georges-Pompidou, and, in the south, on the rue du Cloître-Saint-Merri and on the Saint-Merri. There is a border in the Nordic region where the rooms are located in the IRCAM (with additional floors in the basements of the place), and the rest on the rue Brisemiche.
The metro station is also near the celle of Rambuteau sur la ligne 11.
The place based on the name of the composition of Russia Igor Fiodorovitch Stravinsky, principality of the Sacre du Printemps.
The fontaine Stravinsky, created by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle, is a work of originality, with several sculptures animated by reference to the compositional works: L'Oiseau de feu, L'Éléphant, Le Sergent, L'Amour, La Vie, La Mort… Les machines noires et métalliques contrastent according to the formes rounds and colors.
An immense pochoir of Jef Aérosol, initilé: Chuuuttt !!!, est visible, depuis 2011, sur mur aveugle bordant la place sur le côté nord-ouest.
The work of Shepard Fairey alias OBEY, instituted Knowledge + Action = Power, a real reality in 2019 on the basis of a visit to Paris for a retrospective exhibition of the Itinerrance gallery, named Facing the Giant: Three Decades of Dissent.
Anyway, in 2019, the artist Invader installed a large mosaic in the real world in Paris, initiating PA_1432.
About a block south of the Pompidou Center, site of the Musee National d'Art Moderne, (please see previous 2 posts), lies the Place Igor Stravinsky. My first impression was: "What the...?". My second impression was: "This is intriguing and amazing."
The shallow pool has 16 mechanical sculptures by Jean Tinguely and his wife Niki de Saint Phalle. Each sculpture is an homage to a composition by Igor Stravinsky. Jacques Chirac, then mayor of Paris, announced the project in 1981; it was completed in 1983.
Figuring prominently are sculptures representing two of my personal favorite Stravinsky compositions: The Firebird (1910), and Rite of Spring (1913).
The square, with it's graffitti, mural, white ventilation ducts, and the riotous colors/shapes, contrasts sharply with the adjacent Gothic church, St-Merry (c. 1552).
I saw this leaf floating in the fountains in the Place Igor Stravinsky, next to the Pompidou centre, Paris, and although it took a bit of persuasion to float over the small pool of light, this is the end result.
Next to the Centre national D'Art Et De Culture Georges Pompidou, is a small square, place Igor Stravinsky and the Gothic church St Merri,in the square animated water structures designed by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely represent pieces from Stravinsky's ballet 'The Firebird'.

Reflections in the fountain in the Place Igor Stravinsky, next to the Pompidou centre, Paris. This fountain contains several brightly coloured mechanical statues that rotate and pump water, creating the ripples on the surface that are captured here.

Die beim Centre Pompidou gelegene Fontaine Stravinsky (auch Fontaine des Automates genannt) wurde 1982/1983 nach einem Entwurf des Schweizer Künstlers Jean Tinguely und seiner Lebensgefährtin, der französischen Künstlerin Niki de Saint-Phalle, ausgeführt.
Die in einem riesigen Wasserbecken von 3,6 m Länge x 1,65 m Breite stehenden wasserspeienden Skulpturen wurden von Strawinskys Werken "Le Sacre du Printemps" und "Feuervogel" inspiriert. Die bunten Skulpturen stammen von Niki de Saint-Phalle und die schwarzen eisernen Mobiles von Jean Tinguely.
