And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. ~ Roald Dahl

On the same day, after I had photographed the pink sky ( previous photo ), I turned to go home and noticed this landscape behind my back. The blue moment quickly descended over the trees and snow, it also wrapped itself around me like a considerate lover. I wanted to capture this moment too. I also love the color blue, turquoise and green. It was an incredible feeling, I had just looked at the pink sky and now there was this in front of me. Swamp, trees and a clean snowy landscape, just a few steps in the snow. Probably a big dog or deer, I've seen foxes and moose here too. A bear and a few wolves have also been seen here, they do not belong to this nature but had wandered here from further away. This place is only a 15 minute walk from my home.

This was not a planned shot. I saw him flying by, and just panned and took a few shots. This was the best. My settings were not optimal for this sort of capture, but all things considered, I liked it!

Place-Royale

A visit to Place-Royale is like a step back in time to the early days of New France. It was here that Samuel de Champlain founded his “abitation” in 1608.

Learn all about this cradle of French civilization in North America at musée de la Place Royale. Admire historic Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church, the oldest stone church in North America (1688). And don't miss the immense fresque des Québécois, which retraces 400 years of the city's history.

Cactus Wrens build their nests in a variety of different cactus. It is a very safe place to protect their eggs and chicks. The only known predators that can get into the nest is Coachwhip snakes and Sonoran Whipsnakes. I took this photo on the trail leading into Sabino Canyon north of Tucson Arizona USA

Location: Kindred Spirit

This was taken in Reber, in the new York North Country, which I thought a very, very small farming town. Research on-line finds that it is designated only as a “populated place” incorporated within the more defined and substantial (2000 inhabitants!) town of Willsboro (no pretentions at elegance with an “ugh” on that) of revolutionary war vintage. Here, aging farmland, and farmland newly rejuvenated by Amish or new age organic enterpreneurs, mixes with maturing forests and views that are honey on the heart.

The subject of this landscape is Mt. Poko-O-Moonshine, modest in elevation but with two fine trails, a vintage fire tower (zoom... it's there), famed rock climbing routes, and excellent summit views of Lake Champlain, Vermont, and higher Adirondack peaks nearby. It’s a treasure in its own right, along with the varied and rich country that surrounds it. It's handsome in any season, but invites "Another Autumn View"

This is processed from RAW in LR, PS and gently textured with an offering in Topaz. The result is as close to the eye's imagination as possible.

Amaiur/Maya is a place in the Comunidad Foral de Navarra (Spain), located in the Baztán valley, in the Merindad de Pamplona and 65 kilometers from Pamplona.

Already in the twelfth century it appears under the name of Amaiur, as one of the "holdings" or noble districts of the kingdom of Navarre.

It was a town in 1665 when it was segregated from Baztán until its new addition to it in 1969.

At the top of its mount Gaztelu, was the Castle of Maya where one of the last resistances of the Navarrese to the Conquest of Navarre took place. In the place of the castle there is a monolith in memory of these. In July 2007, the Monument to the Unknown Resistance was also inaugurated, promoted by the valley council, which is located in the town, at the foot of the mountain.
