And I'm confused. I think I'm a French Bulldog (AKA Frenchie) We are a small breed of domestic dog. We were the result in the 1800s of a cross between bulldog ancestors imported from England and local ratters in Paris (France).
We are very playful and affectionate. We are loyal, loving, and wonderful companion dogs. We can be a challenge to train due to our willful and stubborn nature. We require patience, repetition and early socialization. We are often referred to as 'a clown in the cloak of a philosopher'. We are commonly called pigdogs in the UK due to our resemblance to pigs in snorting noises and appearance.
Now I get all that, but I'm still confused as to how I ended up living here in Turkey. Is it any wonder I'm suffering an Identity Crisis?
And it would be a waste of time asking the guy with his hands stuck in his pockets, he's as much use as a 'Pig in a Poke' have you seen those shorts? You wouldn't get a blow on a rag mans bugle for them!

This is Queensland’s Channel Country, where flooding rains and devastating droughts are part of western Queensland life. This region is part of the arid centre of Australia. At least several thousand years have passed since the inland had a wetter climate. The landscape reflects this aridity and the contrasts can be striking.
Change and unpredictability are the main features of the climate, causing erratic swings from drought to plenty. Major rains can transform the landscape from appearing dry and dead to being lush and green in only a few days.
Plant cover varies dramatically with both land type and climate events. Frequent and severe droughts are common, normal, and expected. They are a fact of life for inland Australia and play an important role in the evolution of the landscape.
Plants of the arid lands have evolved in different ways to survive the climatic extremes and harsh conditions. Some resist drought by using little water, and others avoid it by only germinating in sustained wet times.
The gradual erosion of the gibber plains and tablelands replenishes the sand of the dunes. This process has been going on for tens of thousands of years and will continue for many more.
There is a wide variety of land uses and land users in the region. Land uses include pastoralism, petroleum exploration and production, conservation, and tourism. A major concern for land managers throughout the arid region is that these land uses do not accelerate the natural landscape processes.
The Diamantina, Cooper and Eyre Creeks dominate the Channel Country, flowing from the Northern Territory and Queensland into South Australia. These major intermittent streams and their floodplains are interlaced with dune fields, forming an enormous system of swamps, lakes, and waterholes. These streams flow less frequently further south, often not reaching Lake Eyre.
There are numerous salt lakes, including the very large Lake Frome, Callabonna, Gregory, Blanche, and Eyre. All are usually dry. Fillings of the large lakes are occasional and irregular. Some, for example the southern portion of Lake Eyre, have a heavy salt crust.
The district is extremely viable and dominated by three main land types; the "hard" country of the stony tablelands and downs; the sand dune fields of the major Simpson, Tirari, and Strzelecki Deserts; and the floodplains, channels and temporary lakes of the major river systems. Minor land types include arid ranges and salt lakes.
The stone-covered downs are gently rolling, with small slopes and well defined drainage lines. The stones are remnants of ancient soil surfaces. It is these stones on the surface, not the spare plant cover, which provide protection against soil erosion. Within this land type are other landscapes, flat or gently undulating, with little or no stone cover. This land type relies on plant cover from erosion protection, rather than the stony "armour".
Tableland with an intact stone or plant cover is inherently stable, though the erosion which follows removal of this cover is often serious and irreversible.

so I was looking for something kind of simple that was a bit more portable than the main project I was working on.
then I was rereading "The Last Hero" by Terry Pratchett and there's a little bit in there about Vena the Raven-Haired (aka Mrs. McGarry) embroidering "Burn This House" with a border of forget-me-nots. she also stitched "Eat Cold Steel Pigdog" - maybe I'll do that one next. this is now cheering up the abode of Kendra the Amazing.

This is a leather jacket I painted for a friend's husband as a birthday present. The logo and warpig were painted using basic stencils and then the detail added afterwards. Took about 20 hours in total.

In the year 1970, the Soviet Union, in an attempt to provide a small, high powered rifle system to those in espionage roles, the SVDS-7 was produced and trialled with only a handful of operators in covert assassination missions. The weapon uses a case-less round so it is impossible to be traced and is integrally suppressed, so as to maximise noise reduction and ergonomics.
The weapon saw some success, but due to its tendency to jam after use and the discomfort in firing it, it was eventually scrapped and the funds diverted to new projects. However, though discarded, the weapon did see an evolution for one specific operator’s preferences in the form of the SVDC-7 on an unnamed mission. The operator requested the mechanics of the firearm be inverted to allow a single firing of a round inserted into the open bolt, the round not being ejected and the weapon essentially failing, the mission probably requiring only one shot. The operator was rumoured to have been opposed to case-less ammunition, seeing it as a “manifestation of the insidious, coercive influence of the western capitalist pigdogs”. Don’t fix what ain’t broke, I suppose.

This is Sir Dilbert Pickles......aka Dilly, Dibbie, Pigbear, Pigdog, among other monikers. He belongs to Kiera, my youngest daughter, and appears to be a cross between a pomeranian and a sheltie....or Keeshond. He is a rescue dog, from a local animal shelter....and Kiera’s companion, nearly everywhere she goes.
She stopped by this weekend to stay over and visit with us and some of her friends, who also moved back into town after college...She decided that she wanted some new shots of DP, for a tryptic she is creating for her bathroom wall in her new apartment. Since it is the bathroom, she decided that BATH pictures were the order of the day, and poor unsuspecting Dilly was going to be the model. Out came the galvanized tub, the hose attached to the outside water pump by the garden, and the shampoo! Poor Dilly did not expect this at all...he was busy running circles around the hen house and the chicken run, attempting to figure out just what the fluttering things inside were....when wham! he is snatched up and placed in a tub full of suds! Truth be told, with all the wet and humid days we have had in the past week, he really NEEDED a bath....he was smelling a bit “wet doogish”! He was surprisingly cooperative for us, only leaping out of the tub twice and i swear in some of the shots he is smiling....altho perhaps it is more of a grimace than a smile! In the end it was all good....i got the shots, a very happy daughter and a clean, sweet smelling little furry visitor!

For once mONDAY is looking VERY promising indeed! I will have my camera equipment and laptop to chronicle this whole event, for those of you that know us both....it is sure to be a howl and a hoot! i am going to get my south on, with a HUGE smile and a happy heart! This will be my second time to Texas....but i have only been to Houston and Galveston Island before this....It will be the first time we meet “for real”....excited!!? You bet ! I am looking very forward to learning from Lani and teaching her some of my newly learned editing from my class this summer...seeing Austin, San Antonio, the Alamo...and maybe even some cowboys and indians!! :) YEEEEEHAW!!!

All is quiet at the Wildwood boardwalk on a warm morning as the closed storefronts bask in the mid-October sun.
"In Janne Räisänen’s solo exhibition All Creatures Great and Small small tales about friendship and about being human – or a living entity – are interwoven with Räisänen’s characteristic warm, grotesque humour. He depicts the wonders and absurdities of being human with an irresistible honesty, sometimes a little acerbically, but always with great affection.
The exhibition shows works on both paper and canvas, and as part of all this in the gallery space we can also delve into books – sketchpads – containing aquarelles. The new set of works has come about as a process, in a dialogue between watercolour and oil painting. For Räisänen one is as important as the other, and the presence of this process in the gallery brings the works and the artist close to the viewer. These new artworks by Räisänen, who has for a long time lived and worked in Berlin, came about in Helsinki. The bright colours have returned to the paintings, and the paint is thick in places. The new works are strong, distinct wholes, which gives depth to the motion in diverse directions and creates a new kind of layering.
The exhibition contains multiple versions of the same themes. The story of a work arises during the painting process, in the way that the picture advances as a gesture. Continual motion is central to Räisänen’s working process and the idea of a finished work is alien to it. Unfinishedness is also tied to the openness evident in his works. Openness to interpretations and to continual change.
Äiti kutoo minulle märkää villasukkaa (Mother is knitting me a wet woollen sock), Aatami ja muurahaiset (Adam and the Ants), Öljymäen sikakoira Mad SS Mikkelsen (The Pigdog of the Oil Hill Mad SS Mikkelsen)… Naming is an important part of the works, the titles come up in the moment and by surprise. They may derive from real situations and refer to music – or to nothing at all. The joyous absurdity of the works also lives in the often apparently non-existent connection between title and painting. Like the titles, the works’ visual motifs also spring up in the moment, from the subconscious. Each work is like a person, each with its own identity and special story.
Janne Räisänen (b. 1971) works in Berlin and Helsinki. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1998. In 1999, he was named Young Artist of the Year along with Janne Kaitala and Jukka Korkeila, and he received the Finnish Art Society’s Ducat Prize. In 2001, he was nominated for the Carnegie Art Award and, in 2008, received the William Thuring Foundation's main prize. Janne Räisänen’s exhibitions have been shown regularly in Germany and Finland in recent years, and his works are in public collections both in Finland and abroad, such as Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Saastamoinen Foundation, Sara Hildén Art Museum and the Swedish State Art Collection."

These 1988-issue North Korean FECs for visitors from communist countries are, naturally, color-coded pinkish/red. The FECs for visitors from capitalist-pigdog nations were a bluish-green. The International Friendship Hall (a.k.a. Great Leader Kim's junk collection) is shown on the back of some of the notes. The sets sell for 15,000 to 20,000 won (around $13-17), down from an initial 70,000 price-tag.

This church, consecrated Saint Mary of the Assumption, is affectionately known in San Francisco as Saint Mary Maytag, or Our Lady of the Maytag since the inverted hyperbolic paraboloids resemble a giant washing machine agitator. I like saying "hyperbolic paraboloid"
It's a treat. I like the contrasting shapes if you squint at the picture. Nervi and Belluschi killed this one.

The Bull Arab is a A tough, active dog, he needs to have the endurance and speed to be able to hunt and find but still the strength to control a Wild Boar. The dog presents a balanced image between power and speed.
These dogs make excellent family pets and mine would have to be the most loyal, loving and gentle dogs i have ever known. (yes i am biased but they are gorgeous companions) they love kids and kids love them!
They are not vicious although they make excellent guard dogs and have a wicked menacing low growl. They will protect their human family with an awesome determination. Not only that, they are just so good looking! I love the way this one has one coloured ear and a patch on the opposite eye.
Gorgeous BLUE eyes! So special and so sweet… i wish i could keep him but there is a two dog limit in my area.
