Mon ami Pifou (gérard Beaulieu) died, after a long and painful illness and treatment, on July 3, 2016. I shall miss him terribly, as will so many people on Flickr. Reguiescat in pace.

Magic Wand
I wish I had a magic wand

This gorge, often called the Grand Canyon of Europe, is a beautiful range of mountains looking down on the river that runs through the whole gorge. A great spectacle, popular with tourists who visit the sights of Provence.

A little something for Gerard. In honour of the life and work of Gerard ( Pifou ) who was such a consummate gentleman, a great artist and a very warm-hearted man who never forgot to laugh, who never took himself overly seriously. He was a great friend to many people on Flickr, with his big, open, welcome and his boundless generosity.
Gerard often posted shots of shop windows with cute, funny or whimsical figures in them. He made us laugh, he made us pause and look at such things with new eyes. It was a very endearing quality, quite disarming in the best sense. I chose something from my archivers that I thought would honour Gerard and his curiosity so often found in shop windows and curios. I love this shot as there seems to be a hint of a fairy tale in this collection of oddities. It seems to suit Gerard.

I saw this figurine window decoration in Provence in the Spring of this year. It made me think of mon ami Pifou, who certainly would have enjoyed it. May he rest in peace.
