A belt. And one with a history. Originally, this belt had belonged to my mother (magrit k.), but when I was a teenager, she gave it to me, because she didn't wear it anymore, but I thought that it looked cool and also very much 1960s. Back then, I was totally obsessed with anything 1960s, especially music and fashion. And this blue leather belt, although from the 1970s, in my opinion, had (or rather: still has) the perfect swinging sixties vibe with its 5 cm/1,96 inches width, its nicely shaped buckle, and the large, punched holes. And those holes were the "problem". I simply couldn't wear it with its original style, because that belt was a low waist belt, but the dictate of fashion at the time I got it asked for a waistline almost under the chin. So I clumsily drilled some extra holes with a simple gimlet. Since the result, not entirely unexpectedly, looked ugly, I took the belt to a cobbler who did some decent punching work and also added the metal eyelets to the extra holes. I've been wearing this belt ever since, on and off, to this day.

The image is a focus stacking made of 15 photos. The in-camera stacking result looked good so I used the Jpg out of the camera and further processed it in Analog Efex. I've illuminated the scene from above and slightly from behind. To add some visual punch, I placed the belt against that red, transparent chocolate box lid which, as you know, usually serves as a colour filter. You can see how scratched that lid already is, so maybe it's time to buy a proper colour filter. On the other hand, I might simply buy another box of Mon Cherie chocolates to get a new "colour filter" – with the bonus of some extra chocolate pleasure ;)

Otsagabia, Navarra, España.

Ochagavía (Otsagabia en euskera y de forma cooficial) es una villa y municipio español de la Comunidad Foral de Navarra, situado en la Merindad de Sangüesa, en el valle de Salazar, en la comarca de Roncal-Salazar y a 85 km de la capital de la comunidad, Pamplona. Su población en 2017 fue de 534 habitantes (INE).

Ochagavía está situada al norte de la Comunidad Foral de Navarra, es la cabecera del Valle de Salazar. Su término municipal ocupa una superficie de 115,03 km² y limita al norte con Izalzu, el bosque del Irati y Francia, al este con el Valle de Roncal, al oeste con el Valle de Aézcoa, y al sur con Ezcároz.

En el siglo XIV el valle de Salazar se dividió en 3 quiñones (demarcaciones) y Ochagavía formó uno de ellos. La Junta administraba política y económicamente el valle. En 1699 obtuvo, al igual que el resto de los quiñones, autonomía jurisdiccional, aunque la disgregación administrativa definitiva no llegó hasta el año 1864, aunque siguió existiendo la Junta General del Valle. En el año 1794 los franceses invadieron territorio peninsular y en Ochagavía destruyeron completamente 182 casas, 52 bordas y la ermita de San Martín que estaba situada junto al puente que da entrada a la villa, por carretera,y el santuario de Muskilda, no se sabe por qué, no lo quemaron. Para mediados del siglo XIX la villa estaba ya reconstruida. Se reconstruyó en el mismo sitio y las tradicionales techumbres de madera fueron sustituidas por otras de teja. Todavía quedan algunas techumbres de tablilla de roble como en la torre de la iglesia y en el santuario de Muskilda. La agricultura y la ganadería fue la principal actividad económica de la villa durante la Edad Media. Además, el clima local forzó la trashumancia periódica del ganado hacia los pastos invernales de la Ribera de Navarra. Con el pasto del monte engordaban cerdos para provisión de las casas. Todavía en el siglo XV no constituye riqueza la madera, explotada únicamente para la construcción y las necesidades domésticas locales. Además de un molino harinero, de una tejería, de algún telar, ya desaparecidos, la industria artesanal se centró en los productos de la ganadería como curtido de pieles y elaboración de quesos. Hoy, Ochagavía distribuye a su población en muy diversas actividades económicas, entre las que destacan la agricultura, ganadería y selvicultura; el turismo; la construcción y la administración pública, especialmente.

Las Carantoñas, Acehúche, Caceres.

Fiesta popular de origen desconocido. Las Carantoñas son hombres de Acehúche disfrazados como bestias salvajes, con pieles de animales y una cabeza grotesca. En parejas esperan a la imagen de San Sebastián durante la procesión para hacerle una reverencia. Les acompañan las «regaoras», los «tiraores» y los musicos.

Es una de las procesiones más originales de Extremadura y probablemente nace del sincretismo entre cristianismo y antiguos ritos paganos.

Popular festival of unknown origin. The Carantoñas are Acehúche men disguised as wild beasts, with animal skins and a grotesque head. In pairs they wait for the image of San Sebastian during the procession to bow to it. They are accompanied by the “regaoras”, the “tiraores” and the musicians.

It is one of the most original processions in Extremadura and is probably born from the syncretism between Christianity and ancient pagan rites.
