I've been looking so long at these pictures of you

That I almost believe that they're real

I've been living so long with my pictures of you

That I almost believe that the pictures

Are all I can feel

I've been spending quite a bit of time, over the past months, looking closely at the weathered outcrops of rock around the coasts of Scotland. In this short series, I've posted a few of the photos I've taken of some of the 'designs' that caught my eye on sedimentary rocks. I hope you enjoy looking at them, in all their graininess.

#22 -- World Book Day -- 116 Pictures in 2016

Such an apt day for remembering my Papa's birthday, as he so loved to read. Some of my earliest memories are of the delight in his voice when he read aloud to us. He loved the Pooh stories (& had particular affection for Eeyore & Roo), but loved even more the rhymes in When We Were Very Young & Now We Are Six. He could not read the fence painting scene in Tom Sawyer without laughing so hard that he cried.

So here's an assortment of his books that came to me, some of them touching on his career as a volcanologist, in a few of the various places where he worked. Also, showing his great interest in birds & all natural phenomena. And a bit of literature, too -- the O. Henry volume was a gift on his 19th birthday. How fascinating I found those red volumes when I was a child -- they pulled me into mysteries of nuances & intonations & adult things I couldn't entirely understand, but persevered in exploring, losing myself in the magic of books.

No. 4 A Map (116 Pictures in 2016)

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name... :D

After a break from photography, yesterday I went to Zeeland with Astrid. Long time ago I had this much fun in photography.

Hope you like it!

Kind regards,

Christophe

Pictures of You

The Cure

Remembering you standing quiet in the rain

As I ran to your heart to be near

And we kissed as the sky fell in, holding you close

How I always held close in your fear

Remembering you running soft through the night

You were bigger and brighter and wider than snow

You screamed at the make-believe, screamed at the sky

And you finally found all your courage to let it all go

Headed down to Potter Point early this morning for a shoot.

While we were there, some other folk rocked up, and took some selfies out on the cliff edge.

Made for a nice human element in the image.

Hope you like “Pictures Of You”

Cheers, Mike

117 Pictures in 2017 - #54 - Unusual Angle

Pine grosbeak choosing an unusual angle to eat crabapples

As a kid I loved pouring through books with black and white photos from the 50's and 60's. I could feel what is was like to have lived back then and in someone else's shoes.

This book is certainly Old and Aged which is the theme for the group "We're Here"
