I was purposely looking for lesser known and crowded places to visit and Picacho Peak in the Organ Mountains - Desert Peaks National Monument fit the bill. This is located northwest of Las Cruces, New Mexico. I was hoping for spring desert wildfowers but unfortunately it was bone dry when I was there.

An old SD60 leads the daily MPXTU through the Picacho wye, leaving the Phoenix Subdivision and entering the Gila Sub towards Tucson.

Quedan ya pocas personas que utilicen los picachos.
Taken at the Interstate 10 Frontage Road in Marana, AZ, this east bound double container rake was so appealing. It was doing a good speed of about 65 MPH and I was following it from Eloy. I had to get off the freeway and catch it just in time.

"Picacho Peak Sunrise:" An early-morning image I took at Picacho Peak the other week during the poppy and lupine super-bloom. The amount of precipitation we have had throughout the past year and into this season has helped the wildflowers bloom nicely.
