Un repos d'autant plus nĆ©cessaire que le jour oĆ¹ cette photo a Ć©tĆ© prise, la tempĆ©rature ambiante dĆ©passait les 40Ā°.
Cela dit, jāai vu Ć de nombreuses reprises des Ā« vĆ©los-pousseurs Ā» dormir la nuit sur leur vĆ©hicule Ć propulsion humaine. Certains avec qui jāai pu discuter māont confiĆ© quāils Ć©taient trop loin de chez eux pour rentrer. Dāautres dormaient devant chez eux car ils nāavaient aucun moyen de garer leur outil de travail pour Ć©viter un Ć©ventuel vol. Et puis, il y a ceux qui nāont ni maison, ni famille. Leur vĆ©lo-pousse est Ć la fois leur moyen de subsistance et leur Ā« logement Ā».
Old-Delhi (India) - Cycle rickshaw is a terribly physical and exhausting job. It is therefore not uncommon to come across these bike taxi drivers taking a little nap between two races. A rest all the more necessary since the day this photo was taken, the ambient temperature exceeded 40Ā°.
That said, on numerous occasions I have seen āpush bikesā sleeping on their human-powered vehicles at night. Some people I spoke with told me they were too far from home to return. Others slept in front of their homes because they had no way to park their work tools to avoid possible theft. And then there are those who have no home or family. Their cycle rickshaw is both their livelihood and their āhousingā.
