Physically removing the melted plexiglass turned out to be impossible without potentially breaking the drill. But as it turned out the material burns nicely, so in conjunction with some good ventilation this method worked.

ARUNIM (Association for Rehabilitation Under National Trust Initiative of Marketing) is a path-breaking initiative of the National Trust, a statutory body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

At ARUNIM we strive towards creating opportunities for people with moderate to severe disabilities, where none exist. In order to live with dignity people need to have a certain degree of independence and this independence stems from economic empowerment.

Interstate 81 (I-81) is a north–south (physically northeast–southwest) Interstate Highway in the eastern part of the United States. Its southern terminus is at I-40 in Dandridge, Tennessee; its northern terminus is on Wellesley Island at the Canadian border, where the Thousand Islands Bridge connects it to Highway 401, the main Ontario freeway connecting Detroit via Toronto to Montreal. The major metropolitan areas that I-81 connects to include Harrisburg and the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania and Syracuse in New York.

I-81 largely traces the paths created down the length of the Appalachian Mountains through the Great Appalachian Valley by migrating animals, American Indians, and early settlers. It also follows a major corridor for troop movements during the Civil War. These trails and roadways gradually evolved into U.S. Route 11 (US 11); I-81 parallels much of the older US 11. Being mostly rural, it is heavily used as a trucking corridor, and is often used as a bypass of busier Interstates to the east such as I-95. For this reason, it is also used heavily by drug and human traffickers, as it is less monitored by law enforcement than the I-95. This led to the FBI forming a task force to combat the issue in 2017.

The Interstate 81 Corridor Coalition, a six-state coalition, was organized to handle issues along I-81, such as truck traffic and air pollution; the commission meets annually. I-81 is part of the fastest route between the capital of the United States (Washington, D.C.) and the capital of Canada (Ottawa).

A Kashmiri woman is physically barred from boating away at the floating vegetable market.

Although this type of behavior to women is far from commonplace, it's disturbing nonetheless. The subject of our photo is one of two women regarded with pity each morning at the floating vegetable market (see yesterday's photo for more background). For whatever reason, she's being physically detained. Developing world men live by a strange code of conduct when strangers' eyes are on them. Notice that despite the forced immobility, the two Kashmiri men are respectful enough to refrain from laying a hand on the woman. That would be unconscionable. I can only guess at what happens without the presence of the policing eyes of strangers.

Sausage is a highly addictive substance. People who take it can become physically and psychologically dependent upon it to the point where they can't control their cravings. Researchers have found that sausage-addicted monkeys will press a bar more than 12,000 times to get a single dose of it. As soon as they get it, they will start pressing the bar for more.

Sausages and other addictive foods chemically alter a part of the brain called the reward system. As mentioned previously, when people eat Sausages, the food traps the chemical dopamine in the spaces between nerve cells. Dopamine creates the feelings of pleasure we get from enjoyable activities such as eating and having sex. But in Sausage eaters, dopamine keeps stimulating those cells, creating a "high" -- a euphoric feeling that lasts anywhere from five to 15 minutes. But then the Sausage begins to wear off, leaving the person feeling let-down and depressed, resulting in a desire to eat more Sausages in order to feel good again.

When an addicted person stops eating Sausages, there is a "crash." He or she experiences the symptoms of withdrawal, including:

Depression, Anxiety, Intense cravings for the food, Irritability, Agitation, Exhaustion, Anger

In this photo, the local Sausage dealer is holding a free Christmas sausage tasting session.

How socially irresponsible.

MUH is the mathematical universe hypothesis that says all structures that exist mathematically also exist physically and furthermore in those worlds with self aware substructures they will thus consider themselves in a “real” world and different worlds with different initial conditions or potential equations are equally as “real” which enters the perceptual perplexities of platonic realism in regarding only the revelation of smaller parts of the fabric totality. What we see is only but an illusion, a three dimensional shadow of the continuous. Time for example can only be measured down to a plank where it thus becomes unobserved, undetermined, quantum chance. This mathematically perceived universe of MUH is a multiverse created of structure in which there are no “things” but only that which exists in structural relationships, a similar concept to the mathematical algorithm of “chaos theory” or the Buddhist conceptualization of “MU” or emptiness.

Origami is a means of discovering woven abstracted mathematics, which divide a square into finite polygonal arrangements that make it easy to represent mathematical theorem. This theorem is not represented in the final product but the composition composed of creases created and undone. These step by step procedures or algorithms play a crucial role in optimizing design in consideration of the economics of constraints which allows clarifying insight to the mosaic of mathematical mirrors. When these mirrors reflect the pathological entirety of the infinite within finite modules it appears as a fractal, that is the finite portion appears complete and yet can be combined to create the infinite. This is also called “minimal surface” or “Gaussian Curvature” where at any amount of distortion, that is at any and every point down to the minimalist point or degree, is an unbounded resemblance of the entirety that may support itself.

“Hyperseeing” is taking the consideration of the 2d by stepping back into the 3d and by stepping back from the 3d into 4d to encompass multiple views from a single view point, which allows for a more instantaneuous, and intuitive apprehension of the natural relationships to the fragments of perceivable realities. This elusive notion of visual stimuli retention offers insight to the enigmas and perplexities of perception.

An extremely physically fit woman in her 30s at the ocean.

There is nothing like building kits with minimum of extensive painting and fuss while watching movies just for quick stress management. Proper model building actually sometimes causes stress and pain but in the end producing jolly good pieces but it is getting too tough to do so physically. HaHa… Getting older I guess.

This is an old kit released in 1999 but still looks beautiful!

He's not all that fat. Just a little. Our other two cats are of normal weight. They also eat less and are more physically active.

Anyway... Being a little bored early this morning, not that I don't many things to avoid doing, I broke out an old Sigma 70mm 2.8 macro lens and snapped this of Fatcat. The lens is crazy sharp so obviously never intended for portraits of fat cats or people. Also designed for digital and not film. So here I've attempted to pull off a cat portrait that sorta' looks film-like for kicks. No need to soften in post.... The cat was on the back porch and the immediate condensation as I stepped outside provided all the softening I needed.

I've used the Sigma as a portrait lens several times. The lens is very sharp, but this is not a problem as far I'm concerned. I figure you can't throw away what you never had in post.

Now I wait and see what the auto-tag comes up with. So far the flickr auto-tag seems accurate enough. Yesterday I ran across some truly bat-sh*t crazy tags on an image. I thought about linking that image here and then thought.... Well I'll leave that alone since the individual may have added those tags. Kinda' funny and a little weird.

If you can find a Sigma 70mm 2.8 EX DG I'll say go for it. I've been told the lens was discontinued in part due to being a bit too expensive to manufacture. Sounds reasonable. I suspect a another reason, big reason, is the older design does not fit into Sigma's new Global Vision.... This old Sigma is very good despite being a little old fashioned. Can't wait to see if a new Art lens can best the old girl.

21.06.15: No auto-tags at all..... Nothing. Let's see what happens if I add tags myself.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra distributed three-wheelers to over 200 physically challenged persons in New Delhi. On Late Rajiv Gandhi's birthday it was supposed to be distributed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi but due to her illness it got postponed.

Rahul and Priyanka, interacted with almost all the people who were given motorised three-wheelers by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and spent some time with them.

They went to almost every single person, exchanged pleasantries with them and heard their problems.

Physically, ten feet up in the air, but spiritually, in heaven. This video shows the view from Robin's "All Natural" tree stand at sunrise on December 4th of 2008. THE BEST PART? Listen to the waves breaking on the island's Gulf front beach, and the utterly peaceful stillness, as if the whole island, and everything on it, was holding its breath in anticipation. It would be hard to ever forget that scene, even without the video as a reminder. And it was also hard to get too worked up about not sighting a Sambar deer there, as I had in the past. The Island has its own plans, as I would find out a few months later.

Across emerging and industrialized nations, the pandemic that has shuttered economies around the world has also devastated education systems. Some 1.5 billion students — nearly 90 percent of all primary, secondary, and tertiary learners worldwide — are no longer able to go to school physically. The effect has been dramatic and disruptive as educators scramble to put in place workable, short-term solutions for remote teaching and learning, particularly in emerging markets where students and schools face additional funding and infrastructure-related challenges.

While each level of education faces its unique challenges, it is the higher education segment which may eventually trigger a learning revolution by necessity. Universities are distinguishing in that their students are both mature enough to manage online job rigors and technically savvy enough to access new platforms. The real problem lies with the organizations they have registered to. Will conventional universities focused on a campus adapt by selecting the best technologies and strategies to educate and engage their students? The unfolding successes and defeats will give us all a clearer understanding of what's possible.

Video-conferencing tools such as Zoom and Webinars are throwing a lifeline on universities right now. However, lecturers are still struggling to maintain the same depth of engagement with the students in a classroom setting that they could have. We need to find solutions — and quickly — to prevent a dip in the standard of the education we offer. Online educational platforms like Coursera, an IFC client with a global reach, can play a valuable role by leveraging their online program design experience, software platform preference, and digital marketing to create the best content with or for traditional players.

Despite the online sector only comprising a tiny fraction of the global higher education market of $2.2 trillion — less than 2%, according to market research company HolonIQ — the industry is ripe for disruption. Since of COVID-19, students' demand for online services would undoubtedly increase. Just before the pandemic, decreases in enrolment for campus-based programs and related rises in the use of their online courses were seen by many universities. For COVID-19 we are seeing how disruptors of yesterday will become the lifeguards of today. Although traditional institutions once considered online education as a threat, they have come to rescue them.

Recent months have seen the adoption of online solutions unprecedented. Educators are introducing a 'first aid' approach in the short term by transitioning completely from in-person to remote teaching, a change that was forced upon them by abrupt compulsory closures of campuses. Yet they soon understand that remote learning in the long road is just a baby step experiment to providing online education that has been developed as such, including successful student engagement strategies and teacher preparation. Some of the collaborations that have sparked off between universities, online educational firms and technology providers can continue beyond the pandemic.

This will fashion a long overdue and welcome reconstruction of our educational systems as difficult and frustrating a period as it is. In a way, the pandemic has been a great leveller, offering a clearer understanding of the shortcomings and limitations in our existing education systems to all stakeholders (educators, learners, policy-makers and society at large) in developed and developing countries. It has underscored how indispensable it is for our populations to be digitally literate to function and progress in a world in which social distancing, greater digitalization of services and more digitally-centered communications may increasingly become the norm. More importantly, COVID-19 causes us to question deep-rooted conceptions of when, where, and how we deliver education, the position of universities and colleges, the importance of lifelong learning, and the distinction we draw between conventional and non-traditional learners.

This pandemic has also made people realize how dependent on so-called low-skilled workers we are to maintain our lives. It's these staff who are on the front lines through shutdowns, lockdowns, curfews, working several shifts to ensure production and provide for our basic needs. Automation will start eating into these workers over time. Although services will always be provided by low-skilled workers, higher skill levels will be required for most new jobs. In this rapidly changing world being able to reskill and upskill is not only a necessity but an economic imperative.

COVID-19 has struck our education system and shaken it to its core like a lightning bolt. Just as the First Industrial Revolution forged the education system of today, we can expect to emerge from COVID-19 with a new kind of educational model.

On a remote island that doesn't encourage tourism, the Kalawao Peninsula is even more isolated (and discouraging of tourism, due to its tragic history).

Kalaupapa National Historic Park has a sad history. Located on the Kalaupapa Peninsula, the park is its own county -- Kalawao County -- and it's the smallest in the U.S. at about 50 square kilometers.

Physically, the island of Molokai is entirely sea cliffs on its north side...except for the Kalawao Peninsula, which juts out about 4 miles into the sea directly north from the central part of the island. It's leaf-shaped.

Isolated from the island by the sea cliffs (which are the tallest in the world at rough 4,000 feet in places, though only 1,700 feet here at Kalaupapa), the peninsula became the ideal place to isolate a section of the population.

Originally, there was a cut through the sea cliffs, but it was closed (by dynamite) to keep the cattle from escaping the peninsula back topside (which is what they call the rest of the island). Kalaupapa Trail still exists -- it's a trail with over 20 switchbacks which descends from topside 1,700 feet above to the peninsula -- which was hikable, but more commonly mules were/are used to go up and down. At the moment of this writing (February 2020), the trail is closed due to a landslide. So, it's even more isolated than normal.

Access by land crossing is currently impossible, and by sea is illegal. No boats are allowed within 1/4 mile of the peninsula. So the only way in and out of Kalaupapa is by plane, and the airport is only the size that 10 seater Cessnas can fly in. (One caveat to boats: there is an annual barge that comes once per year in summer -- July or August -- to restock the peninsula and those who live here for the year.)

Following on the barge, they ship in all of the non-perishables once a year. The perishables -- produce, milk, etc. -- are flown in as needed.

So who lives here? And why? Well...as Europeans discovered these islands, they brought every kind of illness possible to the natives, to which they had no immunity. (I think I heard someone say the native population dwindled to 50,000 at one point, mainly from being ravaged by disease.)

Among those diseases was leprosy (Hansen's Disease). The king of Hawai'i, for fear of the entire state contracting leprosy, decided to turn this peninsula into a leper colony and isolating it completely. It was almost a naturally perfect place for this, as I outlined above.

The peninsula was known to natives for hundreds (maybe thousands of years) before, though, and there were native residents -- fishermen -- who lived here.

When it became a leper colony in 1866, the natives lived on the west side of the peninsula (in Kalaupapa) while the lepers were on the eastern side (in now-abandoned Kalawao).

Due to adverse weather and lack of immunity, the lepers were dying at the rate of five a day (and are buried in a mass unmarked grave directly east of St. Philomena Church).

They almost immediately went west, displacing the original natives from Kalaupapa, where they died around the rate of one a day.

I could honestly write a lot more about their history, but will skip to the present. Hansen's Disease was finally cured in the 1940s. Now, less than 5% of humanity is susceptible to leprosy, and it's easily cured/controlled with antibiotics.

The island continued to be isolated by law until 1969. It is its own separate county simply because the residents had entirely different needs than the rest of the population, and needed representation.

At present, there are only five (or nine) former patients, ranging in age from 79-96. As they're advanced in age, they worry about what will happen to this place when they pass. The consensus seems to be that they want it to remain as it is. Maintained, but undeveloped.

Currently, it's illegal to visit Kalaupapa on your own. You can only visit by invitation (permit), which is available through one of two or three tour companies -- owned by the former patients. No overnight visits are allowed to outsiders. No children 16 or under are allowed. These are the wishes of the residents.

If you've read this far and are interested in learning more, feel free to ask me anything and I'll answer or find an answer.

I got physically destroyed and reassembled by sweaty half naked mustachioed Turkish men. I loved it. Apparently it's one of the 1000 things you MUST do before you die, according to some famous book. We're going again before we leave.

The most physically beautiful people I have encountered live in Athens. The land of the Greek gods, legends and myths and the Acropolis, Athens' is a cosmopolitan landscape of bars and shopping. But this landscape bears nothing against its historic landscape of Seven Hills and majestic Parthenon.

Physically distanced owners and their dogs taking some exercise.

The Meadows public park in Edinburgh during the Covid-19 pandemic. This park lies between Edinburgh University buildings and popyular central residential areas. Normally very busy on a Spring Saturday morning.

Physically, certainly.

And disdainfully, I have no doubt.

Websites in Kanthari ift.tt/1XhOYq5 Right now I am visiting Kanthari in the South of India and help people developing websites for their social business. www.kanthari.org Kanthari in Trivandrum, Kerala, South of India, offers a 7 month leadership program for visionaries who have overcome adversity and who are keen to drive ethical social change. All hands-on practical workshops are conducted by a group of international experts we call catalysts. kanthari fosters participants from all over the world. Some have university degrees while others have little to no formal education. Some are blind or physically disabled, others have no disabilities at all. What is important is a sense of ownership, motivation, creativity, talent and passion to make the world a better place and strength to be forces of good rather than victims of circumstance. I am meeting a lot of inspiring people and also enjoy the tropical weather and mosquitos.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Winter Palace

St. Petersburg's most famous building, the Winter Palace not only physically dominates Palace Square and the south embankment of the Neva River, but also plays a central political, symbolic, and cultural role in the three-century history of the city.

The first Imperial residence on the site of the Winter Palace was a wooden house in the Dutch style built in 1708 for Peter the Great and his family. This was replaced in 1711 by a stone building, the remains of which formed the foundations of the Hermitage Theatre. Parts of this original palace have now been restored and are open to the public.

Empress Anna Ioannovna was the first of Peter's descendants to reconstruct the palace. In 1731, she commissioned Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the recently appointed court architect who would go on to become the recognized master of late baroque in Russia, to create a new, larger palace on the site. Completed in 1735, the third Winter Palace served for only 17 years before Rastrelli was again asked, this time by Empress Elizabeth (Elizaveta Petrovna), to expand the building. After two years proposing different plans to adapt the existing building, Rastrelli eventually decided to completely rebuild the palace, and his new design was confirmed by the empress in 1754.

Siobhan physically attached herself to Alison (s/v FlyAweigh) for the day. Luckily, Alison didn't mind!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I haven't really pushed myself physically much, after I was down with Hep-A in Sept, save my biking endeavors. So when my friend suggested a 10 mile hike to big basin's waterfalls, I decided it was about time to tie my hiking boots again. Ok, so keeping those boots away for all these months was a bad idea, boot bites, they are not so pleasant to deal with. But boy, am I not so glad to be back ?

This view of the lower part of the Golden Cascades caught my eye, it was interesting because of the way the water was curving down and then hit the rocks and went in a different direction. So I sat down to carve an abstract shot of the bottom of the cascades. After some fiddling I got what I was looking for.

P.S: All that Gold is not for the taking ... so all ye folks who's thinking about another "Gold Rush" Have to be disappointed. It's some weird mineral in the rocks. I haven't figured it out yet.

I-81 is part of the fastest route between the capital of the United States (Washington, D.C.) and the capital of Canada (Ottawa).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_81

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_Creative_Commons_...

Horrible, isn't? I actually did this on a couple other images first and felt physically ill; as if I'd desecrated them. This one was less horrible, I think because the subject is anonymous.

Watermarks detract from the image they're put on. Some detract more than others. I like to think that the one I have been using is subtle and doesn't wreck the image too much. However, the fact is every image is better without a watermark than with one. (I've seen images where people cleverly work the watermark into the image, but that seems like simply too much work to do on any kind of volume.) Furthermore, the photographers I respect and admire the most don't put watermarks on their images. It's true that they have distinct styles, but with so many photographers copying each other these days, if I saw a random unattributed image, I don't think I'd be able to pick the artist who made it. (And even worse than water marks is when people take a nice image a deface it with some trite misquote.)

Yet, I admit that one of the things that motivates me is getting a 'nice image' from someone every once in a while. It's true; I'm vain. And there are so many images floating around the web with the attribution dropped or even purposely removed. I care about the artist and if I see an image I like, I want to know who the artist is and see more of their work. Sometimes you can do an image search to find the source, but too often you just find hundreds of people re-sharing the same unattributed image. (And this is my main beef with Pinterest; the fact that its purpose seems to be to automate this process.)

I still have my normal watermark. I still haven't made up my mind on whether I should keep it or not. This is just something I think about sometimes. (365-014)

The line from Preston Ormskirk terminates here. It is physically separated by a a small gap in the track from the trains from Ormskirk to Southport by two sets of buffers and an anti dazzle screen because trains cannot dip their high visibilty safety headlight. Perhaps the more correct train stops is appropriate. The gap is necessary because it tidies up the accounting for track charges levied by Network Rail on the two trains companies that operate into Preston which is why they are known disparingly as Bean Counters buffers but there real purpose is to segragate two different signalling systems. This line uses a very traditional ticket and staff system involving the driver having a staff given to him by a controlling signaller at Rufford to allow him to enter this section of line - only trains with the staff are allowed - there is only one staff and hence only one train on the line at any one time. This system was devised inthe earliest days of the railways. Behind on the electrified line to Liverpool a fully integrated signalling system with full colour light signalling and track circuiting operates. This is based at a signalling centre at Sandhills near to Liverpool Docks controls the entire Mersey electric network. By segregating the tracks there is no need for another signalman manning what is known as a fringeing signal box to be based at Ormskirk. OPSTA, the Ormskirk, Preston and Southport Travellers Association is promoting the staged extension of electrified services from Liverpool to stations north of Ormskirk. The first step would be to electrify to Burscough, two and a half miles up the track. This would spell the end of the Bean Counters buffers.

Batoire is physically a pretty colourless place,,,,,although of course there is the comédie

humaine. This juice shop gives workaday Place Salaam a kitschy glamour. Over the top the garlanding might be, but the fruit juices are delicious. The drink of choice for the locals is the avocado. The beach may only be down the road, but tourists are rare here.

Cadets from 6th Brigade Army ROTC compete in their annual Ranger Challenge competition, Jan. 23-25, 2020, at Camp Blanding, FL. Cadets are challenged both physically and mentally throughout the competition, where they are put through a series of intense Army events. The two winning teams then continue on to compete at the Sandhurst Military Skills Competition. | Photo by Catrina Dubiansky, U.S. Army Cadet Command Public Affairs

still can't believe it.. MJ is no more. Physically. I learnt to dance because of him. I learnt about POP culture because of him. I participated in dance shows because of him. I learnt his songs by heart. I had MJ's posters all over my room. I had MJ's BAD dress made specially for a show. His gloves.. his shoes.. his moves.. was waiting so bad for his last series of show in London. I my first CD was MJ's Thriller.. I still can't ..

You took my breath away every time you sang..

You took my breath away every time you danced..

You took my breath away every time you performed..

You took my breath away every time you created a music video..

This is a devastating news. I always thought of how MJ would be when he grew older..

You know everyone in the last generation remembers where they were when they heard abt Kennedy's death.. Elvis's death.. Diana's death..

In India, everyone in the last generation remembers where they were when they heard about Nehru's, Indira Gandhi's and Rajiv Gandhi's death.. This is one of those things.

I still can't..

I love you michael..
