Point Roberts
Whatcom County
Washington, USA
Point Roberts is a part of the mainland United States but is not physically connected to it, making it a land exclave of the U.S. It is located on the southernmost tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula, south of Delta, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver, and can't be reached by land from the rest of the United States only by traveling through Canada. It can be reached directly from the rest of Washington and the U.S. by crossing Boundary Bay by sea or air.

As I haven't photographed a snowy owl in two years now due to a variety of reasons, I thought I'd go way back into the archives and publish this old image as we approach the end of February here in Ontario.
While far from a perfect image, it's a very special one for me as it was the closest I've ever physically been to this species in the wild. I found this bird on the side of a rural road and was just getting ready to photograph it when a pickup truck drove by and scared it away. This was the last shot I was able to get before it flew off.

The world is in such turmoil, and sadly it is only a few powerful men who are causing wars worldwide. It is time to END all wars. War only creates pain physically and mentally and is no way to bring our darling children into the world!
Surely the masses can overpower the rich and powerful who apparently have no heart. It is time for love, friendship, compassion, unity and harmony. Please my dear Flickr friends join me in promoting love and peace. All of our families need unity and diversity. We don't need to agree about everything, but there is absolutely NO NEED for violence, we CAN reach mutual solutions. We do it in our families and with our friends and associates so why can we not do it in villages, towns, cities, counties, states, provinces, countries? We can achieve happiness this way by getting together in solidarity for a real purpose. One which will improve our children's lives. We learn so much through sharing and caring and can achieve the miracle of living in peace! Let's give it a try! ❤️💛💚💙💜❣️💓💗🇳🇺 💖💝💟♥️💞💕😘😍🙏
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
Ich wünsche allen einen schönen und gesunden Sonntag !
Leider habe ich wegen der Krankheit meiner Frau nicht mehr so viel Zeit, und ich bin körperlich auch am Limit.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy Sunday!
Unfortunately, because of my wife's illness, I don't have that much time left, and I'm physically at the limit.
Another slide restoration from a slide that looked as if it has spent the last 30 years in a dust bag. So much has been removed physically and with software but some is still embedded in the emulsion and hard to remove.
Nevertheless, the scene from June 1967, is an interesting one and worth another view.

Today I will present you "Amico".
Amico is our new dog after our Vizsla Lady "Dorka" died.
We have much pleasure on him.
Physically he is a grown man, but he is playful and affectionate as a child - or just like a Vizsla. :-)

My exquisite Boo in blue.
Without my 6 quilled wonders (Lesser Tenrecs) and my photography, I would have often been at a loss with the world we find ourselves in. They have played a fundamental part in how I cope with the stresses and strains of the last few years.
Showing my support towards all people who suffer from ME or who are in pain, physically or mentally. In addition, I hope my little blue Boo makes you smile. x
We've all been lost at some time, either physically, geographically, mentally or just literally. This poor Poppy found itself "popping" up amongst a load brambles.... stay strong there's always an answer.
Leucism is an abnormality in pigment formation. Certain pigments are completely or partially missing and the result is a strangely colored bird. The bird does not suffer from it physically
Okay. I know that the portable music player has been around for ages. My first was a transistor radio. Then there were "ghetto blasters." Then came the Walkman. And now, of course, the iPod.
Don't get me wrong. I love music. And I love the iPod's technology. What I don't love... or have any level of comfort with... is groovin' out to music in public.
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like such a private, intimate, personal thing. When I see people on the street, or on the bus, or wherever, with those little white ear plugs... blissing out in their own little worlds... it makes me a bit uncomfortable. It reminds me of my highschool graduation night party, which was out in a big field somewhere. As I made my way from Point A to Point B in the latenight dark... I tripped on something. And it was a boy I'd never seen before... masturbating.
It was pretty dark, and he was pretty out of it. Plus, he had his eyes closed. And I - stumbling onto such a thing unexpectedly, and never having seen a boy masturbate before - was stuck somewhere between shock and prurient fascination. And that's the scene that comes to mind every time I see someone lost in their own little iPod-assisted quasi-erotic, eyesclosed mindbodymusic meld.
I have, of course, grooved publicly at rawk shows. But that's different. It is akin, I think, to the gay bath house scenario. We're all engaged in our own little worlds, and expressing ourselves physically... and there is a sense of kinship... but it's dark, and anonymous. None of us can really see (or wants to see) each other... and we're all there for the same reason, engaged in the same... er, passion. It's when this kind of thing is engaged in out of context... in public, where most of us keep our passions hidden... that I find it just a little bit uncomfortable.
So... yeah. When Mike handed down his old, first generation i-Pod to me... it sat and gathered dust. I tried it in the garden, but when I'm outside, I'd much rather listen to the sounds of the natural world. I tried it on the bus once, travelling to the mainland.... but found the conflict too unnerving.
You want to get lost in the music. You want to let it take you over. You want to get to that dreamy place where you almost leave your body.
But... omigod - in public??? GAH!!! No way.
I prefer to indulge in private, where I can be free and completely unselfconscious. And if I want to close my eyes and twirl and swing my skirt... so be it. Ain't nobody's business if I do.
Sunny days wouldn't be special, if it wasn't for rain
Joy wouldn't feel so good, if it wasn't for pain
Death gotta be easy, 'cause life is hard
It'll leave you physically, mentally and emotionally scarred- 50 Cent
What to do with old books…….?
Happy Wall Wednesday ;-))
This artwork by Anouk Kruithof (1981) is part of the exhibition 'One and One is Three (Eén en Eén is Drie)' in the museum Voorlinden (Wassenaar, The Netherlands.) The collection shows the magic that arises from the sum.

ENCLOSED CONTENT CHATTING AWAY IN THE COLOUR INVISIBILITY
""2009–ongoing | 410 cm x 230 cm installation out of approximately 3500 so found coloured books + video loop + photograph
Enclosed content chatting away in the colour invisibility is a work consisting of an installation of approximately 3500 found colored books, a video loop with sound, and a photograph depicting the respective books. Throughout the year of 2008, Kruithof collected these 3500 books, most of which are from the early 20th century. Some were acquired from Eastern Europe, but had been written in the DDR and consequently dismissed after the state had collapsed. In today’s Germany, these books are usually sold in ‘1Euro Bookshops” or end up at the ’Papierbank,’ a recycling dump for paper, where they are destroyed or attending their slow decay. Kruithof revitalizes these books by using them as objects or building materials to construct a wall.
Color and size determine the rhythm of this haptic installation that is always presented a different order. Seen from a closer distance, these books might evoke abstract landscapes. Yet, these piles of old books can also trigger the idea of pixels and thereby allude to the continuous progress of digitalization (e.g. e-books) within our 21st century society. In doing so, Kruithof plays with not only physically, but also conceptually with the notions of stability and precariousness. It is particularly this notion of instability that sets the main theme of Kruithof’s video, in which she features one version of her book installation. Projected 1:1, the viewer witnesses the sudden collapse of the wall, which is accompanied by the sound of a crash, to see it then being re-built by an invisible hand. With this unexpected, unpredictable cycle of transformation, Kruithof examines the status of physical objects in our digital age, and also redirects our attention to the immaterial value of enclosed, forgotten or disregarded cultural goods.""
There are times in our lives that are harder than others. Physically, emotionally, what have you, we each have our times where everything isn't as great as we would like them to be.
However, like my tattoo says "Focus on the good and the good will come into focus"
I would like to thank call me Kiss for inspiring me to take a new Emotions in Black & White photo.
I met Kiss as I was cleaning out my exhibit at the Focus Gallery. We had a wonderful conversation. One that inspired me to get to taking a pic with emotions. It helped me center during a time where my confidence was waning, and my direction was veering off course.
I asked Kiss to give this photo a title. I love, “Turns out, I sometimes care more than I'd like.”
Sometimes you touch someone without even knowing it. Thank you Kiss.

I'm not a fan of the triple 6 number and yet, this is my triple 6 photo. Some say it's just a number, others give a lot of meaning to it. I'm in the latter camp. I'm a devotee to numerology. At times, numbers speak more than words. So what am I supposed to do with this triple 6 upload? I'm going to deconstruct it.
-Number 6 is the symbol of luck, the highest number of the dice.
-The number 6 is a reminder that you should never forget your spirituality in pursuit of material gain.
-The number 6 often deals with balance, both physically and spiritually. It’s a reminder that we should strive for balance in our lives, and not let our material pursuits overshadow our spiritual ones.
It is also the birth day of two extremely special people in my life. L3L4.
May all of you find your balance.
I can't show any beautiful autumn colour as we're down-under upside-down people. And I don't have any Halloween-like stuff, so I took a photo of my next door. It's literally and physically my "next door" but I am not living in the jungle or bush. The owner is mostly away. (There is a super old boat on the right bottom corner, too.)
Happy Halloween ! 🎃👻💀

Istanbul is Turkey's most populous city as well as its cultural and financial hub. Located on both sides of the Bosphorus, the narrow strait between the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea, Istanbul bridges Asia and Europe both physically and culturally. Istanbul's population is estimated to be between 12 and 19 million people, making it also one of the largest cities in Europe and the world.
💕This picture and songs is dedicated to anyone who is either physically or mentally or even both, but in one way or another fighting a battle we know nothing about. My thoughts and heart 💕 goes out to them.
There is a saying or quote that I always try to live by, it goes as follows.
REMEMBER TO:
Always be kind
For everyone you
Meet is fighting a
Battle you know
Nothing about
A kind word, a friendly smile can mean the world to someone and change more than we think. It costs nothing to be empathetic, friendly, kind or caring. But for the one who receives your kindness and smile, it could mean or make all the difference. Therefore my friends, remember to always be kind. 💕
"Cover Me In Sunshine"
I've been dreaming of friendly faces
I've got so much time to kill
Just imagine people laughing
I know some day we will
And even if it's far away
Get me through another day
Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine
From a distance all these mountains
Are just some tiny hills
Wildflowers, they keep living
While they're just standing still
I've been missing yesterday
But what if there's a better place
Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine
La la la la
La la la la
Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

"Recortes" is an incredibly dangerous tradition of non-violent dodging where local people ("recortadores") compete at dodging completely unrestrained fighting bulls for the ultimate adrenaline rush. The barehanded, unprotected participants are all the time on the verge or being gored or rammed by the bulls, which aren't physically hurt at all.
"Recortes" es una tradición increiblemente peligrosa donde las gentes de una localidad ("recortadores") compiten en esquivar de forma no violenta a toros bravos sueltos. Los participantes, a manos limpias y sin protección alguna, están contínuamente a punto de ser corneados o embestidos por los toros, los cuales no reciben daño físico alguno.
Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily, however the theme at Smile on Saturday is too important to skip, it is: blue for you - ME 2021.
This is the second year I add my contribution to this theme. And what is it about ?
« On May 12 it's ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day.
M.E. Awareness Week was established by patient advocates and is focused on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who was believed to have suffered with M.E.
From 1857 Nightingale found herself often disabled by poor health, which some suggest may well have been Chronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS).
As a result, Nightingale now has been adopted as a kind of patron saint for this under-studied disease.
CFS sufferers commemorate her birthday as a kind of rallying point; their own lamp in the dark. ».
So this theme is about mental support for people suffering physically or mentally. Because sickness can turn your life upside down in a blink of an eye but also the life of your loved ones, we all need some mental support. So here is my picture for this theme.
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day and see you later!! Stay safe and healthy !
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
This species tends to be the favored bird to be used in advertisements geared toward conserving wetlands and promoting wildlife.
They nest in tree cavities where they are physically adept to perch in trees given the sharp claws they have on their feet. Man-made nesting boxes are readily accepted by these birds as well. This is the only species of duck that raises two broods in one breeding season.
Most often we find this member of the "Dabbling Duck" family feeding on the surface of the water gleaning seeds or tipping up to feed on aquatic plants.
This male is quietly enjoying a short rest between feeding times and has a female nearby.
I think if I had been high, chemically, not physically,, I would have wanted to be out there rolling around in all that "fluffiness"!!

Photographing these "ice caves" is physically demanding, technically challenging, and sometimes dangerous. Some of the caves I've explored extended for thousands of feet into total darkness. The resulting images are often quite surreal in these ephemeral natural wonders.
Being mindful means being aware of your thoughts, emotions, and how you're feeling (physically and mentally). ... It means being aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Remember there is no “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in any moment.
💖💖In advance I want to thank you all for your always kindness, support, beautiful awards favs, and messages. You all mean a lot to me, you all truly make Flickr a lovely place to be. Huge, huge hugs and lots of love to you all💖💖
The hike through the dunes and woods in Saugatuck State Park will challenge you physically and reward you spiritually!
*Touch grass is used on the Internet to tell someone to go outside. The phrase also implies that the person the insult is directed to spends too much time online, and they physically need to get outside and “touch some grass” to reconnect with the real world.

This is a very old photo that for some reason had been labeled as private in my photostream, all I did was change its status, I have not re-released it, my apologies if it has appeared as a "new" post, I would not have done it if I'd known as this is some really early work that does not represent my current output. Sorry for the inconvenience.
location: North America, Europe
edibility: Deadly
fungus colour: Red or redish or pink
normal size: 5-15cm
cap type: Convex to shield shaped
stem type: Ring on stem, Volva on stem
spore colour: White, cream or yellowish
habitat: Grows in woods, Grows on the ground
Amanita muscaria (L. ex Fr.) Hooker Fly Agaric, Amanite tue-mouches, Fausse Oronge Roter Fliegenpilz Cap 8–20cm across, globose or hemispherical at first then flattening, bright scarlet covered with distinctive white pyramidal warts which may be washed off by rain leaving the cap almost smooth and the colour fades. Stem 80–180×10–20mm, white, often covered in shaggy volval remnants as is the bulbous base, the white membranous ring attached to the stem apex sometimes becoming flushed yellow from the pigment washed off the cap. Flesh white, tinged red or yellow below the cap cuticle, Taste pleasant, smell faint. Gills free, white. Spore print white. Spores broadly ovate, nonamyloid, 9.5–10.5×7–8µ. Habitat usually with birch trees, Season late summer to late autumn. Common. Deadly poisonous. It contains many different toxins see below. Distribution, America and Europe.
This is one of the easiest species to recognize and describe, and consequently its properties have been well documented for centuries. The common name Fly Agaric comes from the practice of breaking the cap into platefuls of milk, used since medieval times to stupefy flies. It is a strong hallucinogen and intoxicant and was used as such by the Lapps. In such cases the cap is dried and swallowed without chewing. The symptoms begin twenty minutes to two hours after ingestion. The central nervous system is affected and the muscles of the intoxicated person start to pull and twitch convulsively, followed by dizzines and a death-like sleep. During this stage the mushrooms are often vomited but nevertheless the drunkenness and stupor continue. While in this state of stupor, the person experiences vivid visions and on waking is usually filled with elation and is physically very active. This is due to the nerves being highly stimulated, the slightest effort of will producing exaggerated physical effects, e.g. the intoxicated person will make a gigantic leap to clear the smallest obstacle. The Lapps may have picked up the habit of eating the Fly Agaric through observing the effects of the fungus on reindeer, which are similarly affected. Indeed, they like it so much that all one has to do to round up a wandering herd is to scatter pieces of Fly Agaric on the ground. Another observation the Lapps made from the reindeer was that the intoxicating compounds in the fungus can be recycled by consuming the urine of an intoxicated person. The effects of consuming this species are exceedingly unpredictable; some people remain unaffected while others have similar, or different, symptoms to those above, and at least one death is attributed to A. muscaria. This unpredictability is due to the fungus containing different amounts of the toxins ibotenic acid and muscimol according to season, method of cooking and ingestion, as well as the subject’s state of mind. Ibotenic acid is mostly concentrated in the coloured skin of the cap. This very unstable compound rapidly degrades on drying to form muscimol which is five to ten times more potent. Traditionally, where A. muscaria is used as an inebriant, it is the dried cap which is taken.

Reason, Season, Lifetime Poem
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Sarrail Ridge is a 11.3-kilometer trail located near Kananaskis, Alberta. It is rated as difficult. The trail starts from the Upper Kananaskis Lake parking lot.
Scramble to Sarrail Ridge was tough, lots of people returned after enjoying the beauty of Rawson Lake from the bottom.
From Rawson Lake to Sarrail Ridge, still quite people at the first 2/3 scrambling, reaching to the steepest part, needed rope to climb, another portion of people gave up, returned… This final third is both physically and mentally challenging but entirely worth it for the view at the ridge! The view on top of the ridge was spectacular!

A beautiful and uncommon bulbul endemic to Southern India. They are found in scrub habitats around rocky hills and currently classified as "Vulnerable" in the IUCN list due to their habitats being constantly threatened. These birds are found only maybe in a dozen places across the country - all of them in South India. Many of the habitats are under "development" or damaged due to grazing or quarrying. Further, the distribution is highly fragmented making conservation a challenge.
The bird's behaviour is quite similar to the other bulbuls and physically sometimes confused with the white-browed bulbul -- especially the female - which is also found in the same habitat.
I had visited this temple on the edge of a hill that overlooks a forest. In this hot summer where temperatures are already at a record high, birds come to the water drip to grab a few drops of water. We waited there and were fortunate to see some action of these birds - catching insects and drinking water.
Thank you so much in advance for your views, feedback and faves.

Portrait of a shepherd physically incapacitated to continue working with sheep. He's thinking about his uncertain future ... waiting for a paltry retirement pension.
My parents' cat Loch Ness Monster doesn't love any other kind of treat except for catnip. After emerging from the deep, Loch Ness is finally in a place (both mentally and physically) where she feels like she won't be persecuted by any tourists who happen to want to spend all their vacation stalking. (It's hard to be a gorgeous female!) Anyway, now that Loch Ness (Nessy for short) has gotten comfortable, her current hobbies are hiding out in suitcases, rolling around in catnip, and sticking her head into any spiderwebs she can find. We like to call her "Messy Nessy."
Happy Purrsday everyone!

Mantis religiosa is the only member of the Mantidae family occurring in Central Europe. They are listed as "endangered" in Germany's Red List of Endangered Species and are under special protection! Females can reach a length of 80 mm, males can reach a length of 60 mm. Females are heavier and physically stronger, whereas males are more active and able to fly. They feed on grasshoppers, crickets and other insects.

My attempt at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "BLUE FOR YOU - ME 2023"
On May 12 it's ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day.
Therefore we will have the theme "Blue for You - ME 2023", on Saturday May 6, in the group Smile on Saturday! :-).
With this topic we would like to encourage not only the people here who suffer from that disease, but anyone who is in pain, physically or mentally.
Shot with an Agfa "M.3421 6/2" lens on a Canon EOS R5.
This is just another snapshot, taken against far too bright sunlight and I was too close to my photo subjects, but I have decided to post it because it's such a typical scene.
Sethi visited Tofu on his roof terrace today and immediately claimed Tofu's catnip leaves for himself. Tofu hadn't been very interested in the leaves but that changed when he saw that Sethi wanted them. And yes, Tofu was sulking, but he would never challenge Sethi physically as he knows that he doesn't stand a chance against an experienced street fighter. Instead he hopes that his mere presence will annoy Sethi to an extent that he decides to leave voluntarily. Usually that works very well ...

Comments still set to off 100% definitely and ‘saved’ as default till I am in a WiFi are as so slow. It is of course rewarding to see people be so encouraging but it shouldn’t be physically possible. Just in case anyone is actually wondering how the renovations are progressing in our home - they appear to be well behind and unable to finish the job now for we know not how long. The builder had this one week in his diary before Christmas but cannot finish our job in the time he had allotted…………..

One day this owl was found in my Green Leaf Thrashing Plant. She was injured badly. My pet-loving heart was broken to see her condition that's why I just adopted her quickly & brought to my flat to treat her medically, physically and above all emotionally. After few weeks she became stronger & healthy. Although I was pretty upset when I released her in a Central graveyard, Kushtia-7000. However, she finally got freedom. Now, my all-colorful vibrant memories with her are zipped in this photograph.
. As the clouds broke, a beautiful streak of sunlight rolled over this farmstead, moving from foreground to background. I was physically able to witness it's movement and capture this brilliant band of luminance just at the right moment when it pasted over this farm in the dale. 518. Town of Glen, New York. Pentax.
Gusts of wind were almost blowing me over every now and then. And while the sun began to set, most people were leaving the beach. I couldn’t blame them, as the light slowly disappeared and the sand was literally hurting my skin. But I decided to stay a little longer, because I saw some potential in the sky that was changing rapidly. And man, did I get rewarded! The clouds started catching the last light and were lit up beautifully. Setting up a tripod was never an option, so I started running around like a headless chicken, as the landscape was really changing before my eyes, with all that sand getting picked up by the wind. Therefore, finding compositions was a bit trail and error, as I also was trying to protect my lens the best I could. I shot many and most of them turned out to be not any good. But this one turned out just the way I had hoped. By the end of the shoot, I felt physically and mentally, well… blown away, by the island that always finds its way to excite me!
