PHX is the airport symbol and mail shorthand for Phoenix, Arizona, where I live. Well I don't live there... and I don't work there... but it is where I tell people I'm from because that's what they know. For those who don't know, Phoenix is located in the south-central portion of Arizona, about 350 miles east of Los Angeles, California.

Fun fact: Phoenix is at almost the same longitude as Easter Island.

Why do I like this shot, or, how does my photo brain work? The vignette caused by Viv's ultra wide angle gives a round shape to the middle, but the upper left has a bit of color. The image splits in half with the red and black; the bottom splits in half with the letters on top and the lights pointing down; the lights point orthogonal. The light seems to be coming from below which is impossible during midday and also contradicts the shadows. The letters have strong shadows, and break the image into thirds. The bricks make an interesting pattern and have some texture. Only two of the three letters have a window above them. The two windows are the same, but different.

I have not properly introduced H's current touring bicycle.

Right before we'd leave for for Anjou, I noticed the headset on the Goeland she was going to ride wasn't sitting properly. The steering tube seems slightly bent. Not willing to risk a bearing failure, I had one week to clean and service a mixte from the "projects" stable.

This 1954 PHX 55, Peugeot's then top-of-the-line ladies' tourer, hadn't seen the road in decades. The headset and bottom bracket felt fine. Apart from chain, cables, housing and brake shoes, I replaced the saddle, the handlebar setup, the pedals and the lights. There was no time to service the original wheels so lucky H. got to try my "special reserve" set from the 1950s; Maxi Cars laced to Mavic Competition rims. Grand Bois Hetre tires, Gilles Berthoud decaleur and bags, a TA bottle cage and a quick home made leather mudflap and we were good to go.

This is 600 kilometers later. The rear fenderline still needs a little tweak but H. is not complaining.

Been fixing to get one of these for awhile. Getting closer to the keeper.

Explored.

I dug deep in the crates for this dress.

Like most women, when they're about to go out, they try on 10 different outfits because the one they originally wanted to wear didn't "feel" right, so they're forced to tear up the closet until they find the one that does.

This dress is very vintage (I shall never use the word "old" again). It's so vintage that I don't even have it hanging in my closet anymore. I found it tucked away in one of my drawers. I purchased this dress 11 years ago. Eleven! It makes me smile to know I can still fit it. :-) Shirley, do you remember this dress???
