This is one of my favourite photos, ever! My brother-in-law John rolling the dice in Phase 10 (such a great game!) - oh, and I won the game. ;) Biggest score they'd ever seen!
Sunday of my vacation in Atlanta we all went up to Callaway Gardens to hang out at the beach and see the FSU circus perform. They were fabulous, as always :-P and the beach was great fun! It's really obvious that my cousins are such pool kids and Heather and I are beach kids. At Callaway they have this "floating playground" that has a trampoline with inflatable "logs" between them that you try to run across and huge inflatable iceberg with a climbing wall on one side and a "slide" on the other (it was more like cliff-diving then sliding, and I would know). They were all wicked fun! We all went home sunburnt and after wolfing down dinner (ribs barbecued by my older cousin, delicious!) we played a card game called Phase 10. We always play it with our two younger cousins, and apparently they play it everyday at home. I remember last time we saw each other I was teaching the older sister how to shuffle a deck of cards, and she can totally do it now! I was very proud ;)

-Bobbert didn't even mind that we forgot to bring in his chair. He's such a trooper.
Bobbert fact #4:
Bobbert has no sense of the fact that he is a different species, that there are in fact different species. It's refreshing to see things from his point of view, we are all the same underneath. He showers with me, he cooks with me, he sleeps with me. I nap with him. He's in the room for TV watching, game playing, book reading, homework doing, or entertaining. 10 min don't go by that you don't see Bobbert moseying about, *except for nap times at the odd hours of the day - 1, 3, 5, etc.).
So we pretty much have learned to do things around, over, and beside the cats. It's a lot easier and less stressful than trying to change them. We often share a dinner chair, a bed pillow, a game table with a furry friend :)
UMSL mathematics and computer science students (from left) Kevin Shee, Rygin Jireh Liceralde and Michael Nguyen blow off steam by playing their regular post-class Phase 10 card game. “Oftentimes I spy a moment while I’m running from one event to another,” said August Jennewein, UMSL campus photographer. “This image is such a moment that I captured with literally only a second or two to shoot through the glass window of the Fireside Lounge in the Millennium Student Center.” (Photo by August Jennewein)
I snacked from this table for about 8 hours!
People brought so many tasty items! After brunch we settled down to play an epic game of Phase 10. (As if there is any other way to play P10.)
We started brunch around Noon and kept on eating and drinking throughout the day and into the night. I think we started Phase 10 around 3:30p and finished around 9:30. A player new to the game (who was far behind in the early rounds) won the game on her first try!
As it turned into night, we ordered a pizza and watched the Sunday night shows while finishing the game. Great day with friends!

Today consisted of assembling the new Ikea furniture, after which family came over for dinner and to play cards. Here Jennifer, Doris, Anna, and Ted are playing Phase10, while Dan and I lounged on the couch. This was my view of the game.
our stay in the dorms happened to occur during "intensive quiet hours," so phase 10 was the tamest game we could think of...
So, on Sunday's, our goal is to play games with the three older kids - no electronics. We ended up playing Phase 10 from 3-10, I KID YOU NOT! Oy. It was still fun though. And I won. :)
A ridiculous Phase 10 hard of cards. I was dealt 7 wild cards and 1 skip card, along with 2 numbered cards. The odds of getting dealt one wild card out of the 108 card deck is about 7.4%. The odds of getting 6 more dealt after that? Quite a bit lower.
Cards, beer, and Crystal hot sauce - how life should be. This is my bro Billy, about to make phase and beat my ass.
We couldn't find the details to all the phases in Phase 10, one of our standby camping card games. Bill looked them up on his phone and Jenni wrote them down. And then we played Phase 10 until our butts broke.
Our newest craze, the card game Phase 10. It has certainly kept us entertained this week. These are Gracie's hands. She was Madelyn's helper and got to hold the cards that were planned for the discard pile. She took her job very seriously.
The hand I've been dealt is quite a few cards from my goal of a run of seven. Though luck was not on my side, I enjoyed game night with Jen.
Today was a bit of a lazy day. I wasn’t able to find any crunchy crisps (someone had eaten them all!!), so I decided to play a game instead and try to see how many cards I could flip into a hat. It’s not as easy as it sounds but the worst part is to collect them all after you’ve made it through the pile. I would have gotten quite good if I had kept practising, but suddenly there was the smell of spaghetti in the air and I decided that it would be way more interesting to see how many of those I could fit in my tummy :-)

So, I'm one of those 'people' that dresses up for any kind of Harry Potter release--book or movie. And now that all the books have been release, my friends and I just go all out for the movies. These photos are the results...hope you enjoy the nerdiness! R.I.P. Dumbledore!
I knew this was going to be tricky. Looking at this photo I can see the loco storage link needs to be changed.
Three whole days and not a single cuss word, but it was close???
This was shot prior to Platform 7 taken out and a Down through line where the train is now at Platform 5.
With as many people as we had, almost all games were tediously long. We played Loaded Questions for 4+ hours, at the end, there...
Today is the 100th day of the year, and the 100th 'This is Today' for me in 2008!
I was searching around for something to represent '100' and ended up finding our old Phase 10 cards. You can even see the little bits of dirt and/or mold from when they got damp camping. The cards will complete Phase 10 and also happen to add up to 100 :) [edit: they add up to 101; i suck, hahaha; there should only be 10 cards not 11; i get in such a rush sometimes]
Thank you everyone for your comments! ILU! 266 more days to go!! Does anyone else out there play Phase 10? :)
Progress so far on my phase 10 piece. This piece is used for students of JEC to graduate from student to teacher. Once it is complete it will be assessed and hopefully I will ge given teacher status. The piece contains all the different techniques used in traditional Japanese embroidery.
