This week, Flynn got a new buggy! After several years of frequent use by 2 different dogs, the old one had started to break. I was worried if Flynn would be OK with a different design (the old buggy was wider & only unzipped at the front... in the new one, he gets in at the back, then out at the front, so there's no need to turn around once inside but it is narrower).

First time we used this buggy, Flynn baulked slightly at the sight of the smaller opening at the back but once he was assured this wasn't some spooky collie-swallowing monster, he hopped inside willingly enough & well... he quickly decided he approves, phew! As you can see, the front does fully unzip (& has tethers so you can cross-tie the dog in safely). I wouldn't push Flynn anywhere busy with the buggy fully open like this because I'd worry he'd not like being approached by dogs/children etc while he was exposed & effectively "trapped" but in quiet places & when we get back to the garden it's nice. Flynn likes the buggy so much it's sometimes hard to get him *out*. I took this while waiting for His Majesty to decide to step down & come in the house! It took a while.

(Thanks for the well-wishes for Flynn last week... He had a much better week this week. I asked to extend his antibiotic course & I think that was the right choice - Flynn improved day by day & although not 100%, he's looking better now than I've seen him for a while. May end up asking if he can have some more antibiotics next week too! It's not ideal & we'd been trying to avoid a really long course of meds but sometimes it's just necessary!).

At 16 my little guy isn't able to cover the same amount of territory as before so I got a pet stroller with inflatable tires that allows us to go offroad.

It has netting, a rain fly, and a tire pump, plenty of room in a bottom storage tray to haul packages from the post office, a towel for the river, a jacket, leash etc. It even has a coffee cup holder!

In his youth Starley was known to jump up on tables and consume a cup of coffee when I wasn't looking. Now he's enjoying the ride.

Insist your breeder test parents for the DM gene. It is a inexpensive test. A parent with the DM gene can pass an active form of the disease to their pups.

A breeder that loves these dogs more than they love making money off them will not breed parents with the DM gene.

My elderly Yorkie is no longer able to do long walks and so I bought this.

She is happy to sit in it, but we haven't made a proper trial yet.

Midori licks her lips as she lusts after Oliver's pet stroller.

Met these two adorable Italian greyhounds at the dealership while waiting for my car to be serviced. They had the sweetest personalities, and I loved the way they snuggled each other...always think it's so nice when people get a pair of dogs to keep each other company.

Despite the no pets allowed sign on the dealership doors, staff members were sneaking into the waiting room to see "the babies." :)

I did a little shopping today. I decided to buy a pet stroller and use Maltzu as an excuse to do so. He's a great candidate because he's a senior dog who's just getting used to walks again after almost 7 months of no walks (his elderly owner broke his hip). I don't want to rush Maltzu but I also need to maintain a decent pace in order for the other dogs to get enough exercise--with the stroller I can put him into it when he's tired and keep moving with the other dogs. When he's rested up I'll put him back on the grass to walk (more like "amble" at the moment) some more, and then back in the stroller when he's tired. It worked pretty well today although it does make the walk a bit harder.

Yep. A dog stroller. I know, I know. But wait. Before you write me off as some stupid L.A. girl who wants her little dog to look "cute" and "like a baby," let me explain.

Little Guy is nearly 14 and has arthritis. Pretty bad arthritis and some residual weakness from a knee surgery. He can walk, but not very far and not for very long at one time. We would hate to leave him behind when taking Rusty and Honey on a really long walk, like we did in Cambria, so I got him this stroller. Gently used from someone on Craig's List.
