El Pont des Barris, o Pont Neuf, es un puente de mampostería ubicado en Périgueux, en el departamento francés de Dordoña. Reemplazó al puente Tournepiche (codo), también conocido como Vieux Pont o Vieux Pont.
Las primeras referencias a un puente en el actual emplazamiento del Pont des Barris se remontan a los siglos XII y XIV: durante estos períodos, el puente Tournepiche1 fue reconstruido y restaurado en varias ocasiones, el sexto y último puente sobre la isla aguas arriba, en el extremo este-noreste de Puy-Saint-Front. Separa el Faubourg des Barris del resto de la ciudad. En la Edad Media, tres de las treinta torres de la ciudad estaban sobre y en los extremos del puente: “La 25 [torre] estaba a la entrada del Puente Viejo. El 26 ocupaba la plaza de este mismo puente, y el 27 se adelantaba ”. En el lado de la ciudad se encontraba la torre Mosnier, en el puente se encontraba la torre Mitan du Pont y en el lado Faubourg des Barris, estaba la torre Notre-Dame du Pont, coronada por una capilla5. Uno de los arcos del puente fue reconstruido en 1434, luego se desvió el curso de la Isla durante las obras, y su calzada fue pavimentada en 14645. The Pont des Barris, or Pont Neuf, is a masonry bridge located in Périgueux, in the French department of Dordogne. It replaced the Tournepiche (elbow) bridge, also known as the Vieux Pont or Vieux Pont.
The first references to a bridge on the current site of the Pont des Barris date back to the 12th and 14th centuries: during these periods, the Tournepiche1 bridge was rebuilt and restored on several occasions, the sixth and last bridge over the Isle upstream, at the east-northeast end of Puy-Saint-Front. It separates the Faubourg des Barris from the rest of the city. In the Middle Ages, three of the city's thirty towers stood on and at the ends of the bridge: “The 25th [tower] was at the entrance to the Old Bridge. The 26th occupied the square of this same bridge, and the 27th was ahead ”. On the town side stood the Mosnier tower, on the bridge stood the Mitan du Pont tower and on the Faubourg des Barris side, it was the Notre-Dame du Pont tower, surmounted by a chapel5. One of the arches of the bridge was rebuilt in 1434, the course of the Isle being then diverted during the works, and its roadway was paved in 14645. The towers of the bridge were covered in 1660 and one of them was rebuilt. in 1681.

The buildings are located in the centre of Périgueux and Saint Front Cathedral has been classed as a French Historical Monument (monument historique) since 1840. The Saint Front Cathedral was rebuilt by architect Paul Abadie from 1852 to 1895. Only the bell tower and the crypts, both from the 12th century, were left from the previous structures.
The cathedral is part of the World Heritage Sites of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France since 1998.

Périgueux, with its impressive Saint-Front cathedral, has a long history. On the hills south of the Isle there was already a site here in the 1st century BC. the Gallic place of Vésone, a fortified city with thousands of inhabitants of the tribe of the Petrocorii. Once conquered by Caesar, it became the Gallo-Roman city of Vesunna, which flourished in the 1st-2nd century and numbered 15,000 to 20,000 inhabitants. This is how the first core of Périgueux was created.
They are the ruins of the Barriere castle built in the 12th century and of which I do not know more history nor have I looked for it.
From Bordeaux where I had my accommodation, one of the excursions went to Perigueux but between getting up late and returning early, I had no choice but to take the small tourist train to see the entire city.
As you can understand, this train does not have shock absorbers, so the photographic subject is very difficult due to jumps, brakes, turns, etc. When you think you have the image focused, the driver starts and you eat the camera or you are sitting two rows back.
If I made 50 photos, only 4 or 5 are usable. The rest, or are crooked, out of focus or moved.
I have the photo edited in color. Quite decent for the case, but I preferred to do a trial and try this edition in monochrome and semi-drawn. I do not pretend to achieve a great acceptance, it is simply that I like it and sometimes I think that this should be enough.

Son las ruinas del castillo de Barriere construido en el siglo XII y del cual no sé mas historia ni la he buscado.
Desde Burdeos donde tenía mi alojamiento, una de las excursiones fue a Perigueux pero entre que me levanto tarde y vuelvo temprano, no tuve más remedio que tomar el pequeño tren turístico para ver la ciudad entera.
Como puedes entender, este tren no lleva amortiguadores, por lo que el tema fotográfico resulta dificilísimo debido a los saltos, frenazos, giros etc. Cuando te parece que tienes la imagen enfocada, el conductor arranca y te comes la cámara o te encuentras sentado dos filas más atrás.
Si hice 50 fotos, solo 4 0 5 son aprovechables. El resto, o están torcidas, desenfocadas o movidas.
Tengo la foto editada en color. Bastante digna para el caso, pero he preferido hacer una ensayo y probar con esta edición en monocromo y semidibujada. No pretendo lograr una gran aceptación, simplemente es que a mí me gusta y a veces pienso que con esto debería bastar.

Perigueux. River L' Isle
The Isle (Occitan: Eila) is a 255-kilometre (158 mi) long river in south-western France, right tributary of the Dordogne. Its source is in the north-western Massif Central, near the town Nexon (south of Limoges). It flows south-west through the following départements and towns:
Haute-Vienne: Le Chalard
Dordogne: Périgueux, Mussidan
Gironde: Libourne
It flows into the Dordogne in Libourne. Among the tributaries of the Isle are the Auvézère, the Loue, the Beauronne and the Dronne.
Die Nord-Süd-Nebenstrecke, die von Périgueux über Niversac, Le Buisson und Siorac-en-Périgord nach Agen - Präfektur des Départements Lot-et-Garonne und überregional für seine in unterschiedlichsten Formen dargebotenen Pflaumen bekannt - führt, kann mit einigen sehenswerten Motiven aufwarten.
Zusätzlich verzaubert Mitte September der nahende Herbst auch scheinbar belanglose Stellen in lohnenswerte Fotostandpunkte, wenn der Nebel im Hintergrund wabert und die tief stehende Spätsommer-Sonne Gleise und Telegrafenleitungen gleichermaßen zum Leuchten bringt.
Dazu zählt auch diese Kurve unweit von Bajamont, die X 73717 als TER 865865 (Monsempron-Libos - Agen) am 11. September 2015 in flotter Fahrt passierte.
P.S.: Einen weißen Lieferwagen im Hintergrund habe ich nachträglich aus dem Bild verbannt...;)
Périgueux ist ein hübsches, kleines Städtchen im Département Dordogne. Touristische Hauptattraktion ist die römisch-katholische Kathedrale Saint-Front mit ihren zahlreichen Kuppeln und Schautürmchen. Die Kathedrale ist seit 1998 Teil des UNESCO Weltkulturerbes "Jakobsweg in Frankreich".

Perigueux. Cathedral of Saint-Front.
The name Périgueux comes from Petrocorii, a Latinization of Celtic words meaning "the four tribes" – the Gallic people that held the area before the Roman conquest. Périgueux was their capital city. In 200 BC, the Petrocorii came from the north and settled at Périgueux and established an encampment at La Boissière. After the Roman invasion, they left this post and established themselves on the plain of L'Isle, and the town of Vesunna was created. This Roman city was eventually embellished with amenities such as temples, baths, amphitheatres, and a forum. At the end of the third century AD, the Roman city was surrounded by ramparts, and the town took the name of Civitas Petrocoriorum.
In the 10th century, Le Puy-Saint-Front was constructed around an abbey next to the old Gallo-Roman city. It was organised into a municipality around 1182.
