One of the many interesting exhibits at the Phoenix Musical Instruments Museum. Opened in 2010,it is the largest museum of its kind in the world. The vast collection of both intricate and primitive instruments includes most countries and every area of the world. What makes it special is not only the vastness of the collection, but the great videos of these instruments being played that accompanies each display...
Even if you are not musical or have a real interest in instruments (like myself!),you will find this museum fascinating!

Si quelqu'un connait le nom de ce xylophone (ou métallophone, car les lames étaient a priori en acier) je suis preneur.
Instrument à la fois portatif et vertical, de vague ressemblance avec un glockenspiel, mais qui se joue sans short en cuir ni ridicule chapeau à plumes, et préférablement en uniforme militaire indonésien fraîchement repassé.
The First Nashunal Kid's Bank of Paprihaven was founded by young entrepreneurs.
Casey Minder who franchised his "Life Gives You Lemons" lemonade stands and now boasts six locations across his neighborhood.
Or Mani Phithak, the dog washing phenom whose Pampered Paws now has bookings scheduled weeks in advance.
And Goorlok Brin who replicated the plant massages from his home planet, now has his entire suburban vegescape in bloom to the great delight of his neighbors.
First Nashunal Kid's Bank is not government insured, (They had no idea how to figure all that out.), so they needed to protect their money. And, we're talking serious assets. Casey alone had over forty bucks!
Enter the World Famous Watchdog, Snoopy. For all the root beer and pizza he wants, Snoopy lounges around in the bank all day and leaps up with a Snoopy "ARF!" anytime someone opens the door.
The youngsters are happy they can rest easy with this prime protection, and Snoopy is... getting a bit fat.
A win-win!

In our toy collecting, plush is not a strong point and that remains true for our Peanuts collection. The 2001 'Many Lives of Snoopy' series from McDonald's Japan is a plush series that we featured from 2020-2021. Because each plush figure was themed, it was easy to create specific scenes.

Also, in Japan we did pick up a nice series of small plush, about 16mm. These plush seem to have the same origin though there are different tags. The Law Label (The label that is sewn to plush toys containing copyright and materials information.) always has 'Peanuts' and a copyright for United Feature Syndicate. The cardboard tag labels vary with many carrying the 'RM' label. All of the plush were manufactured in Hong Kong. So, we think a Japanese company (Perhaps Nakajima Corporation) manufactured these and released them to various distributors.
Most of these plush have no distinguishing themes or names but rather standard figures released in a variety of colors.

Southside Shuffle is a Blues Festival, but one jazz band is tolerated there. 'Dinny & the All Stars' are playing 22 years at the Port Credit town. Silver Elvis appears at many street festivals in and around Toronto. First time I've seen Big Brothers (sign of the times?) who are actually tall Blues Brothers. Abbey plays with many bands and is actually bass player in great demand. The band was leading a parade and Abbey switched to drum on wheels. Abbey Sholzberg has not only played with Elvis, but as a teenager he attended Woodstock. His mother forgave him eventually.

Mammoth Hot Springs is different than all the other areas at Yellowstone with its pale and orange travertine pools and formations. This area is constantly changing also. There were some pools I photographed three years ago that are now dry. This section reminded me an orchestral percussion set up. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA, July 2017

Early morning in the back roads of rural Paprihaven. The Dew Drop Inn is a favorite place to quench particular thirsts.
Here we find a police cruiser out front. Interestingly, there's dew on the car. So, it hasn't just arrived.
It hasn't been sitting here all night, has it?

I've been going through so many changes creatively. I've slowed down my workflow, been building in my studio, and I've let go of the expectations I put on myself. I'm entirely free. It feels amazing.

One year ago today, as I upload this. The fireman of 'JS' 2-8-2 No.8081 of the Sandaoling Mining Railway was attempting to plug a steam leak in the cylinder gland of his ailing locomotive at Xuanmeichang Washery on 20th January 2016. It really did seem like a 'make do and mend' operation, with no back-up heavy maintenance facilities to call upon, rather akin to the final days of steam on BR. The long journey back home after this day's photographic session had a great bearing on my calling it a day on photographing steam in China, even though sights such as this I imagine are still just possible as I write this.The thought of making a long return journey to north west China, only to find the steam railway operation no longer in operation is just too much of a risk to contemplate!

"Coopers Town may have been too expensive. A round trip was 1 million internationalias. No one knew what the exchange rate with Internationalia is, but a million sounded like a lot."
Oh, sure.
"And Happy Wondersland wanted to be paid in hugs and smiles. And... it seems that no one in Bijou Planks management hugs or smiles."**
That sounds about right.
"And King Kong 21 apparently doesn't have an airport. Or a port. Or a train station. Or even parking."
Wow. Must be a poo issue.
"And so, West Clampett is $5,000 round trip by air. Expensive because they only have one plane, the Big Jim Sky Commander. But only $19.95 round trip via their Vikings ship! So, Mom and Roma are sailing to West Clampett."
With the Vikings??
"Yeah."
Isn't that... dangerous?
"Yeah, sounds like it. So! Who wants to PLAY!?"

Percussion Extraordinaire.
This gentleman sets up his homemade drum kit in Armenia Street, George Town, every day. Well he was there every time I visited the street. He is collecting monies for the St. Joseph Home which I’m sure is a very worthy cause. He is a very accomplished drummer, playing these various utensils and also a very good guitar player. Oh, by the way, his guitar is made from a modified tennis racket.
