Hier seht ihr, wie die Architekten (sehr gelungen, wie ich finde) die fehlenden Teile der Ruine ersetzt haben.
Dieses Dachgeschoss ist umlaufend und endet in dem Metallturm, den ich euch gestern zeigte - auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite.
Begeisternd, wie man alles, was möglich war, im ursprünglichen Baustil erhalten hat - die Steinmauern stammen aus dem frühen 15. Jahrhundert - und dennoch ganz eigenständig ein neues Gebäude aufsetzte -
da ich bisher nicht in den Innenräumen war, kann ich nur ahnen, wie diese modernen Geschosse quasi in die alte Ruine "eingehängt" wurden.
In jedem Fall möchte ich demnächst dem Museum einen Besuch abstatten, wenn seine Türen geöffnet sind. :))

A Northern Hawk Owl seems to seek a high perch for it's hunting. This was atop a Spruce tree. We saw one other perched atop an old dead tree even higher than this. It seemed to be above the nearby tree heights. Got to have the penthouse view!
This location was in my bucket list for a long time.
Located in the middle of Antwerp, it is not really abandoned, although it has been uninhabited for a long time, waiting for the right buyer.
Surrounded by modern skyscrapers, it is an anomaly that catches your eye when you see it from the street.
I knew there was a guy living in the penthouse, watching out for intruders, so I didn't think that traspassing was an option on this one.
I took it for impossible to visit it for many years, until recently I got the number of the guard. I took my chances and gave him a call.
He turned up to be a really cool guy, and paying him a small tip, he lets you get inside and take all pictures you want.

A family of Kelp Gulls (Spanish: Gaviota Dominicana, Latin: Larus dominicanus) nesting on the roof of a residential building. This species is found along the coasts of southern South America, and is Chile's largest gull species. Possibly it's noisiest too.

Down within this White Stork's huge nest, built over many years is a breeding Spotless Starling.
Unlike the Common Starling,
Unlike the highly migratory Common Starling, the Spotless Starling is largely resident, staying in its range (Iberia, North Africa, and Mediterranean islands) year-round.which has white speckles year-round, the Spotless Starling is uniformly glossy black during the breeding season. In winter, it may develop very tiny pale spots, but remains much darker and more uniform than its cousin.
They are exceptional vocalists capable of imitating at least 15 other bird species, as well as man-made sounds like car alarms and whistles. Their songs are generally louder and more musical than those of the Common Starling.

On this particular day, the Avila owlets decided to move up a few branches to a bigger and higher nest. They are obviously well fed as they seem to grow bigger as each day passes. Avila Beach, CA
