As Tasmania’s only theme park, Penny Royal Adventure Park located onsite the hotel grounds is a must-do for families, thrill-seekers and culture enthusiasts alike. There are plenty of activities on offer for kids, as well as attractions for adults including a barge ride, which takes passengers through the venue’s history, a gondola-style chairlift and ten different rope walks suspended over towering cliffs.
jokers turn kings
and diamonds to dust i
tried to beat the house
but every end was a bust
another day in
another begins
another night sleeping
on needles and pins
i keep a-rolling where the battle wind blows
i keep a-running when the trouble follows
ain’t no telling where i’m gonna end up
this lucky’s penny’s been nothing but bad luck
bad luck
bad luck
bad luck
my rusty old dreams are coming undone
fraying at the seams every mile that i run
another bad move
another dead stop
another wrong turn
on the way to the top
i keep a-rolling where the battle wind blows
i keep a-running when the trouble follows
ain’t no telling where i’m gonna end up
this lucky’s penny’s been nothing but bad luck
bad luck
bad luck
i’ve been playing to loose
an dying to win
a comp-ssionate heart
without a dollar to lend
deep in the red between the white lines
it’s a long road ahead and a long road behind
i keep a-rolling where the battle wind blows
i keep a-running when the sorrow follows
ain’t no telling where i’m gonna end up
this lucky’s penny’s been nothing but bad luck
bad luck
bad luck
bad luck
Macro Mondays theme "Contained"
Pennies spilling out of a small glass jar.
Canada stopped making pennies in 2013 because even though they had not contained any copper in a long time, there was still a cost of 1.6 cents to make each 1 cent coin. Even though they are still legal tender officially, businesses have no legal obligation to accept them. And so they don't. And so I have a jar of them.

Ha'penny Bridge, Dublin. Originally called the Wellington Bridge (after the Dublin-born Duke of Wellington), the name of the bridge changed to Liffey Bridge. The Liffey Bridge (Irish: Droichead na Life)[1] remains the bridge's official name to this day, although it is most commonly referred to as the Ha'penny Bridge.
The Ha’penny Bridge is the best known of Dublin’s bridges. It was built in 1816 and was the first iron bridge in Ireland. It is a single span structure with cast iron railings and decorative lamps. It was originally named the Liffey Bridge but is now called the Ha’penny because until 1919 to cross it there was a half-penny charge.
Accepted as the symbol of Dublin, the Ha’penny Bridge (officially Wellington Bridge after the ‘Iron Duke’) was opened in 1816. Cast at Coalbrookdale in Shropshire in England, the bridge acquired its unofficial moniker from the toll paid to cross the river – one old half penny. The bridge was the only pedestrian bridge on the Liffey until the Millennium bridge further up was opened in 2000.
According to the micrometer, the penny is not shrinking, it still measures 750/1000 inches or 3/4 of an inch.

When the clouds lingered on the distant horizon, it was time to grab my camera and tripod, then make for the rocks at Snickett Park. Upon arrival, I clambered about eventually finding a crevasse for the foreground. While I was awkwardly perched, a man stammered up on my left. I thought, "oh, here we go". He leaned in showing me an iPhone shot he had taken of me. "The wild taking photos of the wild", he blustered. And, considering the strong smell of alcohol, it was good a lit match was not present.
Then a family came close and a young lady introduced herself as Penny, and asked a few questions. The show of colors had begun so I remained but answered. They were visiting from England and were enjoying a holiday. I offered my site as reference so she could find spots of interest along the Sunshine Coast.
Nice to meet you Penny.

The Ha'penny Bridge (Irish: Droichead na Leathphingine, or Droichead na Life), known later for a time as the Penny Ha'penny Bridge, and officially the Liffey Bridge, is a pedestrian bridge built in May 1816 over the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. Made of cast iron, the bridge was cast in Shropshire, England.
Penny came with us for our weekly breakfast at the "Marché Maisonneuve". Unlike most girls in the house, she loves to be outside, wheter it's rainy or sunny!

Canadian Penny
1876 - 2013
R.I.P.
For this week's FlickrFriday theme of "Made No More" I chose the penny as a subject. The life (and death) of the Canadian Penny is so full of fun facts that they cannot all be listed here. But here are a few:
*** For the first 32 years of its life, 1876 - 1908, the penny was minted in Britain and shipped over.
*** Nicknamed a "copper", the penny was not actually made of copper from 1997 on. It was copper-plated zinc or steel.
*** Even with the reduced copper content, pennies in their final years were costing 1.6 cents to make.
*** The Canadian federal government has saved millions of dollars by discontinuing the minting of pennies.

A little more subdued in this pose but still remarkably calm and accommodating compared to how she used to sneak away whenever I brought out my camera before.
