I finally finished my cockroach illustration off today, yey.
I started it last year but half way in I took a brake hehehe. The pencil work was intense…
Here is the photograph I used for reference - www.flickr.com/photos/jodilynn/272936838/
I only used coloured pencils for my cockroach, which I think worked out well for the textures. And I think it’s best if you view on white and larger to see all the detail : )
I’m really proud of this illustration. Maybe because I spent so many hours on it and it’s always great to see hard work pay off. And I like how it is ‘scientifically correct’ hehehe.
Here is some info on these cockroaches - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madagascar_hissing_cockroach
Ps./ I think it looks better on paper…and I couldn’t wait to show you guys and took a quick photograph of it. Woo!!
Please, let me know what you think.

This a favourite picture in my living room of Marilyn (Norma Jean) a mysterious and sexy woman most of us loved and adored, but lost much too soon... It was an unnecessary tragedy for this popular star figure.
Cuando te miro

tus movimientos
me dan este sitio.
Este silencio

cuando consigo
a tu lado, percibo
los diferentes caminos
para llegar a tus ojos.

Pencil drawing is one of my most favorite mediums which I've been doing for many years. Here I sit producing a detailed rendition of the Cape Cod island ferry NAUSHON before she ended service in 1987.
Many of my drawings are in private collections worldwide. Seldom do I have them on hand.

Since I only lived a block from the park, I would frequent this area during the early morning hours -particularly late spring and early summer.
I was always fascinated with the park's beauty and what one could find there if the mind would just vacate the world's calamities. We all encounter these trials of living. No one escapes. However, there's a greater spirit in us that guides us daily to the things we take for granted. And of the larger things, we try to grasp -not realizing the smaller, easier, more fulfilling experiences are all around us. Ready to be swooped up in a heartbeat. LIFE!!!
This scene reflects the beauty that so many pass by each morning and seldom see. A mistful morning and a small fowl gliding silently across the lake. But the real message are the ripples this bird is causing and the reflection of the images mirrored on the surface.
We are mirrors; in essence, a reflection of what we push out to others -whether good or bad. As an artist I have always made the attempt to bring out the best in people through my works. Many times it was "easy as pie" ...and there were times when my character would want to -EXPLODE.
However, composure is a great thing and it's through my art that I can find balance in an uncertain world.
In truth, we all need it. That silent time to watch life from life and know that we all are one in the "Morning Mist" -the message.
