This was taken in the evening and I could see that cyclist and his dog coming into view so I only had one go at this and the dog did merge into the wheels a bit but never mind, b/w film scanned into PS and toned !

Pedal cars of the 1940s–1950s were sturdy, metal-bodied miniature automobiles that reflected real postwar car styling and were often built with remarkable craftsmanship. They became iconic children’s toys of the era, blending mobility, realism, and the optimism of post WWII manufacturing.
The classic pressed steel pedal car—heavy, chrome trimmed, styled like real cars—peaked in the mid 1950s. By the late 1950s, several forces pushed the industry away from the traditional designs caused by:
•Rising manufacturing costs for steel and chrome
•Cheaper plastic toys entering the market
•Shift in children’s tastes toward battery powered or TV licensed toys
•Automakers changing styles too quickly for toy makers to keep up
By 1962–1965, many American makers had either switched to simpler, cheaper stamped metal toys or moved toward plastic ride ons.

We can see the power arriving by the pylons and some being used by an all electric bus. Leave the car and pedal into town or just catch the bus. As seen on the outskirts of Oxford.

i framed the bench like a small island on the portixol/molinar promenade, letting the bicycles sit like parentheses around two people who have nowhere else to be. the sky went blank and generous, the sea turned into a thin line, and suddenly every small thing mattered: the angle of a shoulder, the quiet gap between them, the way waiting can look like resting. out at the edge of the frame a couple and a tiny dog drift past, like the day reminding the stillness that it can move again whenever it wants.
