…it is not what you might think,.. of Stump puffballs in impressive numbers.
Stump puffballs (previously Lycoperdon pyriforme, but recently, mycologists moved it to separate genus Apioperdon; with A. pyriforme being a proud single species in this new genus). These fungi colonise rotten stumps or fallen branches in large swarms. They are common and widespread, though this is the first time I saw them. They are more pear-shaped that other Lycoperdon species hence also called the Pear-shaped puffball signified by the Latin word “pyriforme”. The genus name, Lycoperdum in Greek means “ wolf’s flatulence”. Interestingly, these puffballs do have an unpleasant gaseous odour while other Lycoperdon species do not smell much. May be this is where the genus name came from originally. I didn’t try to smell this lot to tell the tale; may be next time. If one not put away by the smell, these fungi as many other puffballs (not to be confused with earthball fungi from genus Scleroderma that may look similar) are edible when young and have white flesh throughout when cut in half. These pretty little pear-shaped puffballs look like lightly-toasted marshmallows here. In fact, you can actually eat these delightful little mushrooms when they are still as white as a normal marshmallow. Soon you will be able to squeeze one and a puff of smoke (spores) will shoot out.
~ thank you Karen McQuilkin for the name title 'tommytoes'
makes me smile every time is say it :)))
~ these are a heirloom variety
called Pear tomato or teardrop tomato (indeterminate tomatoes).
There are yellow, orange, and red varieties of this tomato; the yellow variety being most common. They are generally sweet :)

Explore No. 383, 30 November 2021. Strangely, this is the second time I've been Explored for a photo showing this pear-shaped dish. Perhaps it's a lucky charm!
It's hard to believe that this girl has lost more than 3 lbs within the last 12 months. Now that hibernation is over we will try to resume her training although Cleo isn't convinced that this is a great idea. It will all be a question of willpower, mine against hers ….
Still life of three pears with textures... I had my share of a pear after the photo shoot and it was yummy too...
Catch up soon (enough). Take care flickr-land and thanks for looking ... :-)
My sweet little barbapapa is going to the vet again tomorrow. Nothing serious but maybe some surgery is needed. I hope she won't be in too much pain and will benefit from it.
update: Kedi is back, the surgery went succesfully. She basically got a labia correction because it kept getting infected. She's now on my lap and I hope she will recover quickly.
Pestle Puffball / lycoperdon excipuliforme. Derbyshire. 31/10/16.
I hope I am right in my identification!
The Pestle Puffball has a number of close lookalikes, so I stand to be corrected if I've made a mistake. Please let me know.
These fungi remind me of inverted pears sticking up from the ground!
Growing alone in a woodland clearing, this one had developed a nice rich umber tone and still retained its outer, velvety layer. Eventually this flakes off to reveal a papery under-layer, the peridium. When it splits the powdery brown spores are released into the air. The process is aided by wind and raindrops striking the puffball. The spores come out in puffs, hence the name.
Eventually, Lara Croft decided to give up tomb raiding and stuck to merely raiding the fridge instead.

It wasn't just that Ashley liked shopping for new clothes -- her steadily expanding ass and beer belly made it a necessity
Rachel's iBook may not have been easily expandable, but with the help of ice cream sandwiches, her waistline certainly was.
When ordering delivery, the bill goes straight to her credit card, and the food goes straight to her gut
If you have a pear shaped body, you should not wear pear colored clothes, or act juicy.
(Demetri Martin)
I honestly don't mind being slightly pear shaped; and I love wearing coloured clothes...! About acting 'juicy'.... no idea!!! But since English is not my 1st language, I simply pretend I have no idea what this bit means.... :)
I don't mind being occasionally looked down at or laughed at either, as long I can make those unhappy people who look down at others, smile or laugh.
I don't even mind being blemished - as are those pears.... - because it's still better to be a blemished pear-shaped goddess than a perfectly unwrinkled and unblemished hollow 'crap' :) apple....
Presently, I am more colourful, battered and blemished than ever! Back from a small surgery op, I am all black, blue, green, brown - and more than just a little blemished.... Which made me think of my pears in the veranda (You see, the circle is closing....) - I bought those fruits in perfect yellow and red on Wednesday and by Thursday the skin of at least half of them had already turned to a vivid brown....
Eeeeekh - I thought, but going to hospital, this wasn't my first worry!
Yesterday, back from hospital, I took a closer look and started cutting them in slices for a pear-compote with cinnamon and anise seeds. And guess what: THEY WERE absolutely PERFECT under the brown skin and the compote was HEAVENLY!!!!
And so I assume that under my multi-coloured-not-very-pretty-skin I can still be - well - not perfect, surely not, but - let's say - pretty OK-ish!
Happy SCARLET SUNDAY in any colour of the rainbow to all of you!

Barbapapa is waiting to welcome you.
Just trying out my new studio (Barbapapa almost melted in the double 500w lights).
Barbapapa is both the title character, and name of the "species" of said character, of a series of children's books written in the 1970s by Annette Tison and Talus Taylor.Barbapapa himself is a generally pear-shaped, pink shapeshifting blob-like creature who stumbles upon the human world and tries to fit in.
The shapeshifting is usually accompanied by the saying "Clickety Click—Barba Trick" (in the French version "Hup Hup Hup, Barbatruc", in Turkish version "Değiş Tonton" means "Transform Barba!" in english, and "Resta di stucco, e' un barbatrucco" in the Italian version). After various amusing adventures, he comes across a female of his species (more shapely, and black-coloured), named Barbamama. They produce seven children, known as the Barbababies, each a different colour.
